Without narrative, dialogue, or voice over, 'Pig Roast' offers a visual study in the act of consumption. Shot on 16mm film, we see a string of images evoking the natural and commercial world. Eerie ambient noises are layered to match the tone of the film. Sound and image often contradict one another, creating an uncomfortable dissonance. We see the red shoe of a girl. A curled tail, slowly turning as it cooks to a golden brown. Glowing coals and black smoke. A man's eyes fluttering in the dark. Gradually, a pig roasting on a spit is revealed. The film takes no animal rights stance but rather offers a more subjective gaze in the consumption of animal flesh.
