Onoda Sakamichi is a huge anime fan that dislikes anything that has to do with sports. When he joins Chiba Sohoku High, he learns that their anime club has been shut down and he tries to restore it.

After seeing Onoda climb, Imaizumi challenges him to a race up the school's steep rear gate slope.

Onoda has received a little help from Miki as the race against Imaizumi continues.

As always, Onoda has returned to Akiba to buy some more anime goods. There, he meets a redheaded boy named Naruko Shoukichi.

Onoda is trying to decide between his hopes of restoring anime club and joining his high school bicycle racing team.

Onoda is excited he gets to race with Imaizumi and Naruko but he quickly realizes he stands no chance against them on his mommy bike, yet he refuses to give up.

Onoda has acquired a road racer and is aiming to catch up to Imaizumi and Naruko.

Now that Onoda has reached Imaizumi and Naruko, the battle for the top of the mountain begins.

Race for the title "King of the Mountain" continues as Onoda and Imaizumu are giving it their all to be the first one to reach the top.

Specialized training begin for all first years. Onoda is assigned to train with third-year Makishima also known as "Peak Spider".

One day after the special training has started, the freshman found out that the Inter High Preliminaries have already started. Onoda, Naruko and Imaizumi rush over to see how their team is doing.

Sohoku bicycle club is headed to a special cycling facility in the Mountains for a special four day training.

Everyone is trying to reach 1000 km within the four day time limit. However, Onoda is struggling.

With day 2 over, Onoda has completed only 390 km. Will he be able to complete 610 km in just two days?

Manami has inspired Onoda to compete for his spot on the Inter High team. But the second years Aoyagi and Teshima are not going to give up their spot without a fight.

Battle against second year Teshima continues as Imaizumi and Naruko put their hopes in Onoda on the climb.

Onoda managed to break through Teshima's defense. But Aoyagi has caught up and inspired Teshima to go all out. Onoda's lack of experience might prove fatal here.

An all out battle ensues, to determine who is going to the Inter High.

Sohoku bicycle club has returned from the training camp and Kinjo, team captain, is about to announce who is going to the Inter High.

Sohoku's team has been set. So we focus on Hakone academy's race for their last member. It is a battle of climber between Manani and Kuroda.

The first years are about the learn the truth of what happened at the previous Inter High.

Teams arrive at Enoshima for the start of the race. Interviews are being held when someone from Imaizumi's past makes an appearance.

The Inter High race has begun and when the parade is over it is time to determine who is the fastest sprinter.

Race between top three sprinters is well under way as current leader, Izumida of the Hakone academy, criticizes Naruko and Tadokoro. But they are about to unleash their special moves.

After revealing all their secret moves, top three sprinters are left 700 meter short of the sprint checkpoint as they go all out in a battle to acquire the title of the fastest sprinter.

After taking the sprint checkpoint, Sohoku is able to go to the front of the pack. Everything seems to be going well but then Manami senses that something bad is going to happen.

Accident has left Onoda in last place and Sohoku with only one climber. Rivalry between Hakone's climber Toudou and Sohoku's climber Makishima comes to light as they approach the climb.

Onoda is in last place but he is not giving up. With little help from Teshima, Onoda sets out to pass 100 riders in front of him and catch up to his team.

After realizing Makishima is not going to race him, Toudou begins to lose the spirit to climb as he doesn't have his rival to race against.

After Hakone academy takes the climb, it is up to Arakita and Imaizumi to pull their aces to the finish line.

As Kinjou and Fukutomi are racing towards the finish line, a surprise rider shows up to challenge them for first place.

After day 1 is over, Tadokoro has fallen ill and Imaizumi seems to have lost the will to fight after letting Midosuji pass him so easily. Sohoku has a lot of obstacles to overcome as day 2 begins.

Tadokoro is unable to start as day 2 begins. But after Onoda learns that Tadokoro is ill, he decides to follow the orders he was given by Kinjou.

Midosuji catches up to Hakone academy that is in first place and challenges them for the sprint checkpoint.

Sohoku has slowly started to lose the spirit to fight as they find out that Onoda and Tadokoro are making their way to them. Kinjou takes the lead as he decides no one is going to pass them until all 6 of them are together.

Shinkai and Midosuji continue their fight for the sprint checkpoint as Onoda and Tadokoro reach Kumamoto Daiichi in 4th place.

After losing the sprint checkpoint, Hakone's team seems to be falling apart. Meanwhile, Midosuji decides to leave his sprinters behind and take the mountain checkpoint.

Midosuji thinks he is winning, but Sohoku quickly catches up. However, Onoda seems to have reached his limit.
