Prepare for a chilling psychological journey as Daniele Campea’s award-winning Italian horror, Mother Nocturna, arrives on VOD and digital platforms across the US, Canada, Italy, and the UK on September 27th. This atmospheric thriller, blending psychological tension with supernatural elements, promises to captivate audiences as they follow one woman’s eerie descent into madness.
Inspired by Euripides’ The Bacchae, Mother Nocturna explores the fragile mental state of Agnese, a wolf biologist recently released from a mental institution. As she attempts to reconnect with her estranged family in their remote woodland home, Agnese is plagued by mysterious visions and an overpowering connection to the moon. Her sense of reality begins to fracture as supernatural forces, including the haunting presence of the “God of the woods,” tighten their grip on her mind and body. With the oppressive sound of the wind as her constant companion, Agnese spirals deeper into her isolation,...

Angelina Jolie said she was “terribly nervous” before singing as Maria Callas in Pablo Larrain’s Maria, training for seven months and using recordings of the late opera singer’s teaching.
“When you work with Pablo you can’t do anything by half. He demands in a most wonderful way that you really do the work, and you learn and train,” said Jolie. “My first time singing, I remember being so nervous. My sons were there, and they helped to block the door so that nobody else was coming in. I was shaky, and Pablo in his decency started me in a small room,...

Sally Field has returned to social media, thanks to Kamala Harris’ presidential bid.
The Oscar-winning actress posted two separate posts on her Instagram, sharing that she is back on the platform as a result of Harris running for president alongside Tim Walz as her vice president nominee.
“I’ve not been on social media. Not since it became public toilet paper for our former crook of a President. But ‘hope is making a comeback.’ So here I am,” she captioned a carousel of her with her dog, Dash, on Thursday.
She posted a second photo on Friday of her in front of the TV playing the Democratic National Convention. “Hope is here. Right in the room with me and my 18-year-old newly registered to vote grandson,” she wrote. “I’m, screaming from the highest mountain top I can find.”

The rising star on transitioning from man to beast for Kingdom Of The Planet Of The Apes.
When Owen Teague was four years old, he saw Disney’s Beauty And The Beast and wanted to be in it. Not do a voice in it — actually be in it. “My mum was like, ‘Um, okay, sure, but that’s an animation. There are community theatres you can audition for?’” So he started doing community theatre, mostly musicals. Then, in 2005, Peter Jackson’s King Kong arrived. Seven-year-old Owen was bewitched. When his mum explained that King Kong was played by an actual guy in a performance- capture suit, Teague saw his future.
Almost 20 years later, he is that guy. In Kingdom Of The Planet Of The Apes, Teague plays the lead, Noa, a young chimpanzee born nearly 300 years after the events of the last film in the franchise. After a successful audition...

Ricky Martin is the star of Apple TV+’s Palm Royale and has come a long way in the acting field, not forgetting his beginnings in Mexico.
While appearing on Bravo’s Watch What Happens Live, host Andy Cohen asked Martin if General Hospital is where he cut his teeth acting.
“I did a lot of theater in Mexico before, and I did TV series’ in Mexico, and even film in Mexico,” he said. “So I would give Mexico a lot of credit for my preparation.”
After leaving the boyband Menudo, Martin got an opportunity to star in the musical comedy Mamá Ama el Rock in Mexico City. The singer would then be offered a role in the TelevisaUnivision telenovela Alcanzar Una Estrella II, where he played a member of a pop band. Following the success of the series, Martin would also star in a film based on the show.

The champagne may be flowing at the kickoff for the 27th Annual Sonoma International Film Festival – for more reasons than one.
This year’s event in California’s wine country will open with the U.S. premiere of Widow Clicquot, directed by Thomas Napper, a narrative feature about the Grande Dame of Champagne. Actress Haley Bennett stars in the titular role of Barbe-Nicole Ponsardin Clicquot, “who against all odds advanced her late husband’s techniques to create the recipe for modern-day champagne.”

Maya Hawke in ‘Wildcat’
The festival’s Centerpiece Film is Wildcat, directed by Ethan Hawke and starring his daughter Maya Hawke as renowned Southern Gothic author Flannery O’Connor. The Closing Night Film is Luc Besson’s crime drama Dogman, starring Caleb Landry Jones. A Closing Night...

Pet Sematary has been sequelized, rebooted, and now with the arrival of Pet Sematary: Bloodlines it has a prequel. Adapting Stephen King’s works for the screen is a risky enough proposition, creating new stories based on them even more so as anyone whose seen a few Children of the Corn sequels or reboots can attest. King himself however seems to be happy with this film and tweeted:
“In the book, this is the story Jud Crandall tells Louis Creed to try and dissuade him from using the Pet Sematary,” wrote King. “The screenplay takes a few liberties, but it’s a fine story. David Duchovny is excellent. The secret, as always, is caring about the characters.”

Norma, directed by Santiago Giralt, is a movie about an aging woman who finds herself having a midlife crisis. But the most important part of this film, which is based on a novella titled Senales de Humo, is its emphasis on the origins of her midlife crisis. It begins when Norma, wife of Gustavo and mother of Ines, realizes that her maid is quitting her job. This simple revelation shatters her, and Norma begins a journey of self-discovery after having spent a lifetime as a wife and a mother. Norma might also be for those who are interested in good films that pass the Bechdel test and not just for the sake of it. Her life is surrounded mostly by women, and even though her husband impacts her life in a major way, the movie becomes a slice-of-life dramedy that might help someone reclaim the power in their lives, as Norma does in the film.
