A sweet romantic ballad by Christopher Cross that went under the radar of most audiences and listeners except for his and Frances Ruffelle fans.
At the time of "Back of My Mind" Cross fame was fading away a little, which makes of this track one of his most amazing final efforts that got some notice here and there. And a pity that despite having a music video for it, it's so obscure that it never got the chance of getting a re-release with a better image quality. But at least, for the time being, the version available is still here with us and available.
Cross and Ruffelle perform the duet though they're apart from each other, with the man playing his guitar on a small clear set and the woman appears near ballet dancers making their amazing and expressive act on the background; and there's some brief moments of Ruffelle strolling a pier on a sunny day.
Main appeal comes from the powerful lyrics, followed by a great melody that conquers you very easily. Some will say it's too corny but what can I do, I'm a hopeless romantic fan who feel very enthusiastic when the whole set is well put together forming a great combination that goes through the heart. Also enjoy great duets with well balanced voices that make it a positive unique, loving experience. Definitely taking this song with me forever (sorry for the pun, I had to). I don't care if the video is so-and-so, I'm all in for the music. 8/10.
