It plays off as one in the beginning of the first episode, but however, it isn't a real game show. It is all work of fiction. The contestants are actually actors and actresses and the filming location is in Canada, not Russia. The concept of the show is what if a reality show goes horribly wrong and leaving strangers vulnerable in a uncivilized land.
