Filmmaker Thomas Lilti initially conceived of the concept as a TV series, which he eventually made as a spin-off, Interns (2018), after the success of the film.
Film-maker Lilti practiced as a doctor for more than twelve years before becoming a full time movie director. He made sure that actors performed the exact and appropriate medical acts with the patients in the movie.
The nurses in the movie are real life nurses who were asked to perform in the movie.
