First, I should admit that I watched Jiří Trnka's "Cirkus Hurvínek" on YouTube and it didn't have subtitles. I could understand some of the dialog since it was close to Russian (one of the foreign languages that I speak). The scene that really sticks in my mind is when the emcee has the boy ride the motorcycle in the metal sphere. I recall that Ryan Gosling's character in "The Place Beyond the Pines" does that.
It's not any kind of great cartoon, but enjoyable enough, even if you don't speak the language. I understand that Trnka was known as the Walt Disney of Eastern Europe. I'd say that his works were cleverer than anything from Disney. Worth seeing.
