Refugio, a romantic dreamer whose years long quest to find true love takes him from the circus life in Mexico to the nightlife of New Orleans, where he unexpectedly falls for a beautiful exotic dancer with a complicated past and a dangerous ex-lover who refuses to let her go.

Refugio doesn't know that Juan, the man who saves his life, is in fact his own father. The vagaries of fate have put them face to face thirty years after tearing them apart, when Juan abandoned their circus carrying a terrible secret. Refugio has grown up in this circus but in search of his lost love he embarks upon an emotional journey from boyhood to maturity, from his home town in Mexico to the streets of New Orleans. This is a tale about the possibility of love, redemption and fate.
