I have indeed watched the 2020 movie "Butchers" from director Adrian Langley, but found it less than mediocre, so I wasn't particularly much in a hurry to sit down and watch the 2024 sequel "Butchers Book Two: Raghorn", also from Adrian Langley.
But I had the opportunity to do so, and nothing pressing on the agenda, so I opted to sit down and watch the sequel. However, I was not really harboring any expectations, so director Adrian Langley had every opportunity to impress me.
Writers Kolin Casagrande and Adrian Langley put together a script and storyline for this 2024 sequel that proved more enjoyable and entertaining than the previous movie. And I have to say that I was actually positively surprised with the outcome of this sequel.
On the plus side, there is a lot of violence throughout the course of the movie. And that was actually something that made the movie all the more enjoyable to watch. Yeah I know, but isn't graphic violence and sheer mayhem the reason why people make these movies and the audience watch them? And some of the mayhem in the movie is extremely visceral and makes you almost cringe; I loved that. There is a lot of killing throughout the course of the movie, and no one is actually safe, which was something I enjoyed. Thumbs up for the gruesomeness that the writers opted to put in "Butcher Book Two: Raghorn".
The effects in the movie are really good, especially the gore. And I have to say that the gory effects really added a lot to the overall enjoyment of the movie.
I found "Butcher Book Two: Raghorn" to be quite a surprise and an enjoyable one at that. It was much better than the 2020 prequel. It is well-worth taking the time to sit down and watch, and it is a movie that I would recommend for fans of movies such as "Wrong Turn", "The Hills Have Eyes", etc.
My rating of "Butcher Book Two: Raghorn" lands on a six out of ten stars.
