Exclusive: The Office Movers are back in business.

Canadian streamer Crave has ordered a second season of the comedy series from Jae and Trey Richards, with Justin Stockman, Vice President, Content Development and Programming at Crave parent Bell Media calling it a “hit.” Note: Minor spoilers ahead.

The new season is set to go into production in 2025, and will pick up on the conclusion of season one, which saw the Saunders brothers, played by the Richards brothers, making a big decision regarding an offer from moving company giant Zenithon.

Counterfeit Pictures, known for shows such as CBC’s One More Time and CTV’s Shelved, produces in association with Crave.

Created by the Richards brothers, the show follows siblings who navigate the chaotic world of Toronto’s commercial office moving industry. Season 1 starred the Richards alongside an ensemble cast also including Jack Innanen, Lucas Lopez, Noel Miller, Hassan Phills, Jesse Sebastian and content creator WatswithAndy.

In 2003 came out what can only be described as an unidentifiable grooving object from another music galaxy, the fascinating outcome of the collaboration between French electro duo Daft Punk and manga and anime master Leiji Matsumoto. The resulting musical science fiction anime, “Interstella 5555: The 5tory of the 5ecret 5tar 5ystem”, is now primed for rediscovery by a new generation of electro and anime fans in a new 4K remastering.

The film, directed mainly by Kazuhisa Takenouchi for Toei Animation but supervised by Matsumoto, is essentially a visual companion piece to Daft Punk’s 2001 album, “Discovery”, with no dialogues and few sound effects. Essentially an anime visual album of Daft Punk’s seminal sophomore record Discovery, Interstella 5555 follows the abduction of an alien music band by an evil human character with some dark plans. It was created by Daft Punk and Cédric Hervet in collaboration with Leiji Matsumoto (who passed away in early 2023) and Toei Animation, and was originally cut as individual music videos — now, fans will finally have the chance to view the film in its entirety.

Interstellar 5555 will be screened in over 800 cinemas in 40 countries on December 12th. A list of participating theaters and on-sale ticket info can be found here.

In one of the most exciting new ventures coming out of Scandinavia, the former Flx CEO Pontus Edgren, Breakable Films’ VP Eleonor Sager (Netflix’s “One More Time”), writer and best-selling novelist Ulf Kvensler have joined forces to deliver prime scripted content for streamers and cinemas, Variety has learned exclusively.

With storytelling at its core, Stockholm-based Ivy Prodco will develop and produce scripted series and films for the Nordic and global markets, tapping into the founding partners’ own materials and the best ideas and content from up-and-coming talents.

All three partners boast impressive track records in film and TV.

As CEO for Jarowskij (2009-2012) and then CEO/managing partner for Sf Studios’ banner Flx (2013-2023), Edgren has more than 40 productions to his credit, including the mega comedy hits “The 100-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out the Window and Disappeared,” “Solsidan,” “The Bonus Family” and Netflix originals “Quicksand” and “Love & Anarchy.

Blink-182’s One More Time… era is not over yet. On Monday, the band announced that they’ll release an expanded version of their 2023 reunion album, featuring eight more songs, on Sept. 6.

Cuddly Kung Fu master Po the Panda returns to the big screen for a fourth instalment of the animated action comedy franchise, eight years after Kung Fu Panda 3. Unfortunately, it’s fair to say that the law of diminishing returns has very much kicked in, because while the film is entirely amiable, it doesn’t quite deliver the same punch, and frequently feels like it’s going through the motions.

Exclusive: Two-time Canadian Olympic medallist Elvis Stojko is to guest star in CBC’s comedy One More Time.

We’ve got a first look at the popular figure skater, who will appear in the seventh episode of the Counterfeit Pictures series. The ep, titled ‘Lazer Blade,’ will air on Tuesday February 20 and also on streamer CBC Gem.

Stojko will play himself opposite star D.J. Demers (The Tonight Show) in the workplace comedy, in which hard-of-hearing second-hand sporting goods store manager Demers leads a team of ‘enthusiastic’ employees.

The figure skater won back-to-back Olympic silver medals at Lillehammer in 1994 and Nagano 1998 along with three world titles and seven national titles. He was inducted to Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame in 2006 and the Canadian Olympic Hall of Fame in 2011.

An animated science-fiction musical without dialogue, “Interstella 5555” pairs the music of Gallic electronic duo Daft Punk with the intergalactic manga designs of Leiji Matsumoto. The elementary story seems purely a preteen confection: Musicians from another galaxy are abducted by a sinister corporation chief and reprogrammed to become the most popular supergroup on earth. But the film’s psychedelic visuals and pulsing soundtrack are a tight fit, and the triple demographic of Japanimation aficionados, sci-fi geeks and, most of all, dance-music fans should make this medium-length feature a steady seller to MTV-style youth webs and specialty video/DVD labels.
