"Casi el paraíso" is a successful dramatic film with comedic and romantic elements. The script based on the novel of the same name written by Luis Spota deals with realistic themes about politics and social classes, managing to maintain interest from beginning to end with the story of the supposed Italian Count Ugo Conti in Mexico. The cast gives good performances, highlighting the protagonists: Andrea Arcangeli and Esmeralda Pimentel who achieve passionate performances and a chemistry that surpasses the screen. Miguel Rodarte plays a fun and very dramatic character at the same time, Karol Sevilla shows that she has matured as an actress showing her versatility on screen, and Katie Barberi is masterful at managing to show many histrionic nuances. Director Edgar San Juan makes a work that hits the point of what he wants to show. The cinematography is good, managing to capture tremendous visuals in both the Mexican and Italian locations. The editing work and the soundtrack make a great duo in each scene. "Casi el paraíso" is a film co-produced between Mexico and Italy, catapulting itself as one of the best of the year for both countries.
