"Ártún" is like a dress rehearsal for the director's later "Heartstone", which was a feature-length film whereas "Ártún" is a short. They both feature young male protagonists, belatedly prepubescent, with bullying older sisters who are insensitive about this situation. The focus is also mostly on their relationships with their friends, though there's no homosexual theme here as there was with "Heartstone".
I liked "Ártún" just as I did the director's full length pic. Both are authentic slices of life from a country I know little about. Both are interesting and involving. The director has a new movie out this year that I now really want to watch.
