I was eating a very soft, creamy cheese kind of like mascapone but it was something I got at the farmers market and I can't remember the name. But I had a mouth full of it and boy it hurt when I laughed so hard it came out my nose. This is one of the most inspired, hilarious sketch comedy shows I've ever seen. Every sketch is wildly different but they're tied together with a common thread of pushing it to the absolute limit. They take huge swings and hit a ton of homers. Check this out if you want something fresh. Check it out if you like dumb ideas executed in hilarous and original ways. Check it out if you like an ensemble cast of diverse actors risking it all and slamming dunks.

If Al Gore was still with us (or is he still with us? Either way) he should do a documentary on this movie because people have to know the truth - that Kid Cactus is amazing. I've never heard of these guys but What is Art is clearly a masterpiece. I've never seen sketch comedy like this before. It has hints of I Think You Should Leave and Tim & Eric, but it's also so different at the same time. I can't get enough and have already watched it twice. The rewatch value is superb.
I can't wait to see what Kid Cactus does in the future. I will definitely watch anything they make. If you're looking for a quick, hilarious, jaw dropingly surprising comedy, watch this film WHAT IS ART!

So much more than a sketch comedy movie, this is clearly a labor of love for friends by friends who are fluent in the language of the artistic odd ball outlier. It's an extremely funny and beautiful showcase of the talent and skill that these filmmakers possess. The crew behind this project is made up of rare precious gems and seeing this movie is your opportunity to see them truly catch light. I watched this movie twice the day it was released. I felt connected to it instantly and it is helping me recommit to my own artistic instincts no matter how unexpected or aesthetically strange they may be. If you love hard laughs and surprising set pieces and avant-garde slapstick brilliance then this is a must watch for you and your buddies.

This is such a great blend of heavily stylized genre parody as well as absurd humor! It reminds me of Tim and Eric Bedtime Stories.
No spoilers, but for anyone curious this is a collection of short comedic films woven together with psychedelic animation.
Not only was I laughing throughout the entire film, but there are also beautifully shot moments that are so captivating. It's so refreshing to see this kind of absurd comedy in 2023.
The film also showcases a large diverse cast of amazing performers that I have never seen before. Kid Cactus is now on my radar for sure! Looking forward to what they have in the works next.

I didn't know what to expect from this movie, but BOY was I pleasantly surprised! I'm a big fan of Tim and Eric and I Think You Should Leave with Tim Robinson, and the sketches in this movie are all just as bizarre, surreal, and laugh-out-loud funny as any of my favorite sketches in either of those shows. Something that usually bums me out about sketch comedy movies is that if even one sketch or premise is off, it brings down the whole movie, but What is Art manages to serve up constant laughs, original, funny premises, and noteworthy performances that all kept me invested throughout the whole film. I'm excited to see what these filmmakers come up with next!

Wow. What a ride. I was completely taken off guard and not ready for what I was about to watch, but I am so happy I did! What is Art is insanely funny, weird, and does not hold back from being silly and over the top in the best way. I was skeptical at first because I had never heard of Kid Cactus, but they have made something here worth watching, if not more than once. They play with genre in such a fresh and unique way, making fun of it but paying homage to it at the same time. It's absurd, but also smart and self aware. If you like I Think You Should Leave or Monty Python, you have to check this out!

Fans of original, off-beat comedy rejoice!
This movie was a wild ride that I won't soon forget. It's absurd, side-splittingly hilarious, and even weirdly beautiful, cinematic and profound at times. These guys clearly give no Fs. It's so refreshing and makes for a truly unique viewing experience.
Trying to avoid spoiling... But here are some highlights for me: The performances, the special effects, the animation, THE ENDING!!!
I laughed, I cried (from laughing so hard) and I questioned the meaning of my existence and the entire Universe. I LOVE this movie and can't wait for what else these guys come up with.

This was such a fun ride! I was cackling the whole way through, except when I was going "Oooooooo" at the crazy, hypnotic animation or falling silent as I contemplated life's biggest questions. Loved all the physical comedy bits especially and how unhinged the sketches got. I will be thinking about The Mattchelor for a long time and reflecting on how truly so many people in our society are named Matt. If you watch this movie, you WILL feel stoned and that WILL feel good and okay. Some very weird minds behind this project. It's really just inspiring to see people in their element pushing the boundaries of their art, and it made me want to do more of that! Recommend!

Want to watch something quick but engaging? Check out WHAT IS ART. This indie film is a wild and wacky mix of comedic shorts that all feed back into an animated through line of what is art, as dictated by a German narrator . It reminds me of Monty python in that blend of animation and live action.
Very funny and unexpected film with a lot of twists and turns. This is the type of movie that would be at home on adult swim or similar "trippy" adult comedy movies. This movie was very different than most comedy these days while also not being too out there. A good balance of funny and wild. I would recommend this to anyone who likes alternative comedy.

Kid cactus has been sweeping the nation for the past couple of years and boy did they deliver once again with "What is Art". You'll be laughing one minute and crying another, maybe even pooping yourself! The animation, music, and quality of sketches are all TOP class. The characters and situations are both absurd and absolutely hilarious. The sketches always seem to take a turn that your weren't expecting. I didn't realize I could laugh for an hour straight until I watched this! If you haven't watched it yet stop what you are doing immediately and get to it! It will be the best money you ever spent!
What is Art a side-splitting comedy skit that had me in stitches from start to finish. The actors' comedic prowess shines through as they effortlessly deliver their lines and engage in slapstick humor. Their facial expressions and physical antics add an extra layer of humor to the already clever script. The skit's pacing is spot-on, maintaining a rapid-fire rhythm that keeps the audience engaged throughout.
You can tell the creativity and time spent making this. Definitely recommend taking the time to watch and share with friends and family! You will not regret it! I cannot wait to seem more from these guys.

Mamma Mia! This bad boy is a spicy meat-a-ball and I mean that from the bottom of my Italian heart! I dabble in sketch comedy, but this did something to me, deep in my loins. The absurdity, the commentary, the intellectual humor mixed with the potty humor - I've never seen anything like this!
The acting was incredible. Every part was perfectly played. The writing was superb. So funny and poignant. Weird to the point of uncomfortable at times. The direction was tight, concise. Editing was spot on. Must I say it again? This was a spicy meat-a-ball indeed!
For fans of comedy - you must check out this hidden bad boy!

This special is criminally limited in its release and needs to be made available to the world on every streaming platform!!! I think it's ridiculously top tier as far as sketch comedy specials go for so many reasons. First and foremost it's chock full of such a diverse array of sketches for fans of all types of comedy. But also it's incredibly well shot! The animated segments woven throughout the sketches help tie it all together in such a fun and silly way. It's genre-defying as it spans the genres, parodying them all expertly. It's clear these guys know their stuff. And of course the humor itself is so wild, zany, and out there that I belly-laughed on many occasions. And who doesn't need a good belly laugh? I know I do. And I know you do too.

Kid Cactus is the comedy troupe for the Millennial generation the way Monty Python was for the Boomers. 'What is Art' is a compilation of comedy sketches by a funny and talented group of artists and I was blown away by their creativity. The sketches themselves are a mix of both absurdist humor and more traditional observational comedy. There are some truly laugh-out-loud moments, and the film never feels like it's dragging. It's funny, clever, and self-aware. If you're a fan of sketch comedy, then you'll definitely want to check this film out. If you are easily offended don't bother, but I can not wait until the next production!

A bizarre sense of humor combined with beautiful cinematography and editing leads to a uniquely hilarious train ride, as if your brain was the tracks and this film was the train running wild all over it, speeding through, ripping around your synapses, and with each turn you're not sure if it's going to derail, but you can't look away, and then you want to watch it again to make sure it wasn't all just an amazing fever dream.
Unique skits sewn together with hilariously weird animation that is so damn cool and unique. The acting was great, and the skits well executed, and the editing clean. I wish that my name was Matt so I had a chance of meeting them on the Mattchelor.

What a journey this was... So many perfect twists and turns at unexpected moments, I spit my water out on multiple occasions and there wasn't a cup in sight. These guys flaunted their original humor and cinematography with different animations, jokes and flat out absurdities. They don't seem to shy away from any avenue of how to director/produce/act comedically and really show you what the sketch world should look like with all the unique elements. This is a great watch when you want to be put in a good and enjoy many belly laughs with friends. Looking forward to the next one, I can't recommend it enough!

'What Is Art' is an absolute gem of a comedy that had me in stitches from start to finish. Directed by brilliant minds, this film effortlessly weaves together humor, wit, and thought-provoking commentary on the nature of creativity. The cast's performances were top-notch, with each actor bringing their A-game and delivering impeccable comedic timing. The writing was sharp and clever, filled with hilarious one-liners and memorable moments. The entire production team deserves applause for their exceptional work in creating a visually stunning and aesthetically pleasing film. 'What Is Art' is an absolute delight, a must-watch for any comedy lover.
Time flies when you're having fun and this film is the most fun.
I didn't want the fun to stop! Although at no point was I given an answer to what art is, I'm left with joy and wonder after watching this film.
The animation is like what Disney should've done in the Antman and Dr Strange films. The acting in this movie is what Paul Rudd and Benedict Cumberbatch should've done on the Antman and Dr Strange films.
Honestly if George Lucas gets ahold of these rising stars, the world will be better for our children and children's children.
Can't wait to see what is next from this group! Hopefully something just as fun.
