After finishing their yearly harvest, a small Midwestern town prepares to celebrate their annual festival with their celebrated corn stock, but when they start to turn into ravenous flesh-eating zombies realize it's due to a new chemical preserve put on the corn that's the cause and must stop it from spreading.
This was a generally pretty solid genre outing. Among its better aspects is the solid and quite likable setup that has some fun aspects to it. Getting a nice bit about the history of the town and how they're all dealing with the various interlocking storylines about the lives of the members with their personal lives getting a fine glancing over before the zombie invasion starts, this all comes off rather nicely to get a brief look at the victims and then launching into the zombie attacks. This is a great touch that allows the rest of the film to pretty much be focused exclusively on zombie confrontations where it deals with the ragtag group of survivors wandering through town on either supply gathering trips, informational scouting, rescue missions or escape attempts, and running into the creatures throughout the town. This allows for plenty of cheesy action with the use of fine special effects for the zombies and the aftermath of their gory encounters with the wild encounters bringing about a lot to like. The creative use of employing the corn stalks within the body as a means of tying together the cause of everything is creative enough and lets this get a bit more enjoyment out of this one with the way of bringing it up, while the massive swarming scenes are usually rather fun. The only minor drawback to this one is the way it splits up its focus on so many different characters in various parts of the town as it remains somewhat more difficult to keep track of the characters when they're all separated by the zombies but it's hard to know where everyone is. It's not a major issue to this one and does bring it down slightly being the main drawback to be had here.
