A few weeks ago, reports started surfacing on social media outlets suggesting that Sony was considering a Kadokawa buyout. It was suggested that Kadokawa’s anime business was a major target for Sony, but its handful of gaming studios, including Elden Ring developer FromSoftware, also excited the company.

After intense speculation in the industry, Sony has officially given us some clarity regarding the whole buyout. While the PlayStation maker isn’t the full owner of FromSoft, its position as the largest shareholder will be a nightmare for Hidetaka Miyazaki and his team going forward.

Jonathan Blow, a well-known indie game developer, thinks that Elden Ring does not have a great design language and that it is just a large-scale ambitious project with a huge map and a bunch of bosses with different attack patterns.
Blow feels that mainstream Aaa games are slowly losing their charm. Image Credit: GameSpot Yt
His criticism of the game does not mean to take away from the scope and success; he is just expressing his personal opinion on the matter. However, it is a pretty bold statement against one of the best games to have ever been released.

There is no doubt about the large scope and scale of Elden Ring. It has a huge map that offers each player a unique experience based on the choices they make along the way.

Isn’t it fascinating how skeletons have a way of crawling out of their closets at the most convenient times? Just as Black Myth: Wukong was poised to make history as the first Chinese game to potentially claim Game of the Year at The Game Awards 2024, some very old bones started rattling.
Suddenly, three-year-old allegations against Game Science were front-page news across the Western media.
Everything’s fair in love and game awards. | Image Credit: Game Science
The timing was about as subtle as a boss fight in Dark Souls—which is to say, not subtle at all. Here was a game that had shattered every conceivable record, won hearts across continents, and redefined what Eastern game development could achieve. Yet somehow, certain publications thought August 2024 was the perfect time to dust off screenshots from 2021.

Grace Park and Hawaii Five-0 are practically synonymous for fans of the hit crime drama. Portraying Kono Kalakaua, Grace wasn’t just another character on the team, she was the heart and soul that gave the show its edge.
From the very first season, Kono stood out displaying a rookie cop with killer instincts and fierce loyalty that made her a fan favorite. And let’s not forget her insane surf skills that added to her badass persona. Whether she was chasing down bad guys or navigating personal challenges, Kono brought depth and relatability to the otherwise action-packed procedural.

Well, if Elden Ring Nightreign wishes to dominate players with its difficulty, then who better than one Demon Souls 3 boss who can adapt to strategy in real-time to get the job done? It is high time to pull the curtains on this.

There are very few gaming gaming characters as instantly recognizable across all of popular culture as Mario or Sonic the Hedgehog, but Bandai Namco’s Pac-Man is one of them. The yellow fruit-eating circle’s iconic “waka-waka” eating soundbite is one of the most recognizable sounds in gaming. Debuting in 1980 in arcades (a full year ahead of Mario himself), Pac-Man is celebrating its 45th anniversary in 2025, although he’s sporting a very different look.
To commemorate the occasion, Bandai Namco is taking Pac-Man to uncharted territory, far away from its family-friendly roots.

When Starfield launched in September 2023, it’s a fact that there were a lot of expectations riding on it. The game was alleged to be in production since Fallout 4′s release in 2015 and Bethesda Game Studios made a lot of promises that it had to deliver on.

As Bethesda’s first new IP in decades, the game left a lot to be desired when it first came out. And that’s not to say that our expectations were too high, because even Phil Spencer admitted in 2023 that the goal was that it would last 12 years like The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.

Kevin Feige’s MCU will be bringing back Chris Evans for the upcoming film Avengers: Doomsday and with the return of Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom, it seems like Marvel Studios is grasping at all strings to deliver a blockbuster. Since Avengers: Endgame, the franchise has been stumbling hard and has only had some spikes in its graph.
However, bringing back fan-favorite characters who have had their arcs completed may not be the best idea to improve the MCU. While it may have worked with Hugh Jackman in Deadpool & Wolverine, Feige needs to do something else to make the franchise great again. Author George R.R. Martin may have given the perfect idea years ago.

Elden Ring is FromSoftware and Hidetaka Miyazaki’s greatest success and one of the best games of all time. The game has sold over 25 million copies and Shadow of the Erdtree is the highest-rated Dlc of all time. One of the most noteworthy things about the game is Fromsoft’s collaboration with George R.R. Martin.

The Game of Thrones franchise has a spotty history when it comes to video game adaptations. Telltale made a series of story-based adventure a while back that were pretty good. Beyond that it's mostly been mobile games with light strategy elements.

The Game Awards 2024 showcased the best that the industry had to offer this year and highlighted some of the most notable achievements this year (except Sony’s apparent influence). Shadow of the Erdtree was nominated for six awards while Space Marine 2 was nominated for two, but neither won anything. And while you can forgive the losses for Elden Ring‘s Dlc on the counts that it is, well, a Dlc, the same can’t be said for Space Marine 2.

What are Sony and The Game Awards (Tga) cooking together? Astro Bot just won Game of The Year 2024 but it should’ve been Black Myth: Wukong. The Game Awards 2024 has proven, yet again, that it’s less about celebrating gaming excellence and more about maintaining the status quo. While Black Myth: Wukong shattered records and redefined what’s possible in gaming, the jury was busy polishing their Sony-tinted glasses for another mostly predictable year of PlayStation favoritism.

Black Myth: Wukong didn’t need marketing gimmicks or political pandering to become the most played single-player game in Steam’s history. It just needed to be exactly what gamers have been craving: pure, unadulterated excellence.

Players take on the night together in an all-new experience from the team at FromSoftware. Elden Ring Nightreign will be a multiplayer-focused return to Roundtable Hold, set in a universe parallel to the events of Elden Ring.

He is not someone who would lay down all the pieces in front of you and offer a simple linear experience. He would rather take you on a journey with a lot of missing blocks that are unique to each individual and highly depend on player interpretations.

So, let’s be honest, Malenia’s moveset feels incredibly tailor-made for Sekiro’s combat system, doesn’t it?...

The Elder Scrolls 6 is one of the most anticipated RPG titles in recent history, and Bethesda has a unique opportunity to evolve in one particular area. The foundations laid by Skyrim are legendary, but an area that could use improvement is the inventory and storage system.

In Skyrim, players had to purchase their own house, which is how you can safely store your items and clothes. Todd Howard and Bethesda could take a page from Hidetaka Miyazaki’s book and implement a system similar to Elden Ring where players can store the majority of items in their personal inventory.

Yet, amidst the many challenges the game has to offer, a particular enemy stands out to us as uniquely aggravating, one that some might argue is even worse than those rotten dogs or the Lesser Kindred of Rot in Elden Ring.
