When Lorraine says to Deputy Olmsted, "or are you going to sit drinking coffee in the one house in the state where I know that girl ain't at", that is a direct quote from the Coen Brothers' movie Raising Arizona, where Nathan Arizona Sr. says the same thing to the FBI agents about his son who has been kidnapped.
Constitutional sheriffs believe they are the sole arbiter to determine the constitutionality of laws and to refuse to enforce any law they believe is unconstitutional. They may also be called sovereign sheriffs. The constitutional sheriffs movement is a fringe theory that holds that the authority of a county sheriff should supersede the federal government's. Adherents believe that county sheriffs are the ultimate authority in determining the constitutionality of the laws they must enforce. The office of sheriff is a statutory/constitutional office having authority under state law and/or state constitution.
The narration of this episode is voiced by Jason Schwartzman, one of the leads in Season Four.
The DLR 593 license plate on the truck Dot drives at the end is a reference from the Fargo movie, as the car used by Steve Buscemi and Peter Stormare's character had dealer plates which start with DLR.
