Sandra Bullock has made a name as one of the finest actresses of this era. With her acting skills and popularity, she not only earned an Academy Award but also became the world’s highest-paid actress in 2010 and 2014. Only a few actresses can dream of having such a celebrated career as hers. However, in this journey, Bullock has also maintained certain boundaries.

One of the most notable rules that Sandra Bullock always tries to follow heartily is her refusal to perform intimate scenes. Doing steamy scenes has been very common. Most of the popular actresses in the industry have been seen in such scenes. However, Bullock has openly stated her distaste for filming intimate scenes, unlike most of her peers.

The world has ended, or so says Momma, played by Halle Berry. She lives with her two sons Samuel (Anthony B. Jenkins) and Nolan (Percy Daggs IV) and their dog in big wooden house the middle of the woods.
The details of this apocalyptic event are hazy, however Momma repetitively tells her boys that there is an evil out there that can posses you and make you kill your loved ones. This is what had happened to their grandparents and their father and now the trio live in constant fear of the outside world.
The only thing that keeps them safe is the house itself so the only way they can leave is while tied to its foundations on long pieces of rope. If bound to the building they are safe but should that rope break or they stray beyond it, who know what terrible things will happen. That’s...

Sandra Bullock is a name that immediately takes us back to one of the greatest action films ever made, Speed (1994). Over the years, the 60-year-old actress starred in many box office hits, and it wasn’t just her role as Annie Porter that brought her a lot of recognition in the world of entertainment. Bullock had to work extremely hard before landing major roles in the industry.
The Gravity actress was born on July 26, 1964, to John W. Bullock and Helga Mathilde Meyer in Arlington, Virginia. While both her parents were vocal experts, Bullock loved acting and cheerleading while growing up.

Another fact about the A-lister is that she spent a little over a decade in Germany since her father was stationed as the Army’s Military Postal Service in charge. It was during his time in Nuremberg that he met Meyer.

“Never Let Go” isn’t interested in reinventing familiar formulas when it comes to its unsettling spin on sinister spirits visiting a secluded cabin in the woods. With its inclusion of a protective mother and her two young kids attempting to escape an evil entity plaguing their world, it’s also unafraid to invite minor comparisons to “Bird Box.” Still, director Alexandre Aja’s psychologically taut feature blazes its own trail, dropping us into the middle of one family’s ghastly, worsening crisis, craftily drawing its scares from their interpersonal and intrapersonal strife. Though not all of its clever ideas come together efficiently in the finale, its thematic ruminations on grief, sanity, rebellion and redemption are intrinsically intertwined to harrowing, claustrophobic effect, heightening the hallucinatory horrors and dread-soaked atmospheric pull.

Hey TV fans! Do you like murder mysteries, Nicole Kidman wearing a really bad wig, and Liev Schreiber smoking lots of pot? Then you gotta check out "The Perfect Couple," now streaming on Netflix. Trust me: this is one of the best trash TV shows in recent memory. "The Perfect Couple" is not really good — you'll probably forget most of it after you binge through the six episodes. But the show is so unapologetically trashy, so silly, so over-the-top, that you're bound to have a good old time. It's a glossy, easy-to-digest series that drops a bunch of beautiful people in an equally beautiful location, and then puts them all in the midst of a murder mystery.
Comparisons to Rian Johnson's "Knives Out" movies and the HBO series "The White Lotus" are bound to arise, but "The Perfect Couple" isn't even close to being as good as those things.

Based on the novel by Elin Hilderbrand and adapted for the screen by Jenna Lamia, the six-episode series watches a luxurious weekend of wedding festivities spiral out of control when a dead body is found on the shores of its Nantucket setting. Nicole Kidman stars as mother of the groom Greer Garrison-Winbury, and Liev Schreiber plays her husband Tag. Rounding out the cast is Eve Hewson as bride-to-be Amelia Sacks, Billy Howel as groom-to-be Benji Winbury, Meghann Fahy as Amelia’’s maid of honor, Jack Reynor as Benji’s older brother Thomas and Dakota Fanning as Thomas’ wife Abby among others. There are many players in the guessing game, and everyone has a secret that gives them motive.

A choreographed beachside dance is hardly the opening credit sequence one would expect from a glossy Nicole Kidman murder mystery. But for director Susanne Bier (“Bird Box”), there was no other way to open “The Perfect Couple,” the six-part limited adaptation of Elin Hilderbrand’s novel.
“I’ve gotten so bored with title sequences,” Bier told IndieWire. “There was, at some point in the script, a nightmare sequence where there was a dance. I was like, ‘No, I don’t want to do that.’ But there was something about the word ‘dance’ that stayed with me, and I was like, ‘We are going to do the title sequence as a dance with everybody.’ First of all, it’s going to be really joyful and fun, but it’s also going to suggest to the audience, ‘Hey, you are allowed to laugh here. Set in Nantucket, “The Perfect Couple” portrays a rarefied, 1% version of America in which people have staff and use “summer” as a verb. Which is precisely why director Susanne Bier turned down the offer to direct Netflix’s adapt tion of Elin Hilderbrand’s novel when producer Gail Berman first approached her.
“It’s not my world,” says Bier, the Danish director whose films “After the Wedding” and “In a Better World” were nominated for Oscars, and who won a directing Emmy for the 2016 Tom Hiddleston spy thriller “The Night Manager.”
Berman and screenwriter Jenna Lamia persuaded Bier to change her mind. With the show set to start shooting in a few months and no cast attached, the director wasted no time reaching out to Nicole Kidman. They’d worked together on the HBO limited series “The Undoing,” and now she offered her the role of moneyed matriarch Greer Garrison Winbury.

The opening credits for The Perfect Couple are fun and cute. As Meghan Trainor’s “Criminals” plays, the cast of Netflix’s new limited series – from the police officers to the housekeeper to Nicole Kidman herself – perform a coordinated wedding dance on the beach. It’s the kind of clichéd bit one expects to see at a real wedding, and there’s something gleeful about watching this deep bench of stars and character actors shimmy and point their way through the routine.
It’s also tonally off-putting, though. The Perfect Couple is a soapy melodrama, but it’s also a murder mystery. By the end of the first episode one of these characters is dead, so while it makes perfect sense to open the series with this extravagant display of wealth, in subsequent episodes, including the killer-revealing sixth episode, the cute opening feels like it belongs on another show.

Pure Fiction: The Black List Offers New Novelists A New Avenue To Publication, TV & Film Adaptations
Over three months before the 20th edition of The Black List hits inboxes all over town, the Franklin Leonard founded platform is broadening its horizon into novels.
“The Black List’s core mission has always been discovering, supporting, and amplifying exceptional writing–providing it with the platform and visibility that it deserves based on its merit,” said Leonard today of the move into fiction with manuscript submissions and connections to the world of adaptation for TV and film. “Expanding into fiction is a natural progression.
“Right now, there are brilliant writers around the world who don’t have access to high-quality, accountable feedback, and whose work goes unseen for reasons entirely unrelated to how good it is,” the Black List CEO adds. “That’s a massive market failure, and it changes today. How much of yourself would you compromise to live in the lap of luxury? Would you take the plunge if the path to Easy Street was as simple to walk as marrying into a seemingly ordinary but twisted collective of Stepford-like siblings led by a deranged matriarch and her equally disturbed husband? As Netflix‘s The Perfect Couple trailer unfolds, Amelia Sacks (Eve Hewson) is about to find out.
Here’s the official synopsis for The Perfect Couple courtesy of Netflix:
Amelia Sacks is about to marry into one of the wealthiest families in Nantucket. Her disapproving future mother-in-law, famous novelist Greer Garrison Winbury, has spared no expense in planning what promises to be the premiere wedding of the season — until a body turns up on the beach. As secrets come to light, the stage is set for a real-life investigation that feels plucked from the pages of one of Greer’s novels.

Legendary Entertainment is looking to dip back into the prequel well after giving Dune a prequel series with Max’s Dune: Prophecy. Deadline reports that an origin story for Guillermo del Toro’s Pacific Rim is in the works at the indie studio from Eric Heisserer (Shadow and Bone, Bird Box).
The prequel is part of a first-look deal with Heisserer and Chronology, his recently launched production company with Carmen Lewis, who has signed with Legendary to work on IP and related projects.
Pacific Rim was originally released in theaters here in the United States on July 12, 2013 in 3D and IMAX 3D, stomping its way to $411 million at the worldwide box office.
In the film, “As a war between humankind and monstrous sea creatures wages on, a former pilot and a trainee are paired up to drive a seemingly obsolete special weapon in a desperate effort to save the world from the apocalypse.

Sandra Bullock has been a major fan-favorite in Hollywood for a long, long time now, widely loved for all the powerful women she has embodied to date; be they quirky or confident. But lately, she hasn’t quite been taking up all as many roles as she did back in the day, with her most recent part being her more or less cameo role as Maria in 2022’s Bullet Train.

When The Night Manager’s second season arrives, probably around the middle of next year, its previous award-winning director will not have her name on the credits.
Oscar winner Susanne Bier helmed the first season into a hit that debuted on the BBC and was sold to more than 180 countries. Stars Olivia Colman and Tom Hiddleston are set to reprise their roles but the director will be Georgi Banks-Davies.
Bier told The Sunday Times newspaper that, although she enjoys the challenge of making TV series (she also directed The Undoing and the forthcoming Netflix drama The Perfect Couple), she did not want to sign up for season two of adaptation of the John le Carre novel. She said:
“I’ve never done the second season of anything. I guess I’d feel, ‘How do I do this differently,’ which is what I’d be scared of — but not in a good way.

TV and film writer earnings fell $603 million last year, or about 32%, as the end of “Peak TV” coincided with a 148-day strike by the Writers of Guild of America.
Writer earnings, reported for dues purposes, dropped to $1.29 billion in 2023. Adjusted for inflation, that is the lowest level since the writers strike in 2007-08.
Employment also fell by 19.5%, to 5,501 working writers, the lowest number since 2014.
In the first “double strike” since 1960, the WGA and SAG-AFTRA shut down most scripted production for half the year, seeking higher wages and protection from artificial intelligence. At the same time, the TV business shrank 14%, from 600 shows in 2022 to 516 in 2023.

[Editor’s note: The following story contains some spoilers for Elin Hilderbrand’s novel “The Perfect Couple”]
It’s a beach read starring all of our favorite murder mystery staple actors — and it doesn’t get much better than that.

Since “Big Little Lies,” Emmy and Oscar winner Nicole Kidman has become the undisputed queen of limited series adaptations of best-selling beach reads. Now, she’s back in the genre with “The Perfect Couple,” her first limited series for Netflix — and her first adaptation of a novel by the queen of beach reads, Elin Hilderbrand. Netflix released a teaser trailer for the six-episode limited series on Thursday, along with a link to a thematically appropriate Zola-esque wedding website.
Based on Hilderbrand’s 2018 murder mystery, “The Perfect Couple” is a story about wealth, power, and family. Here’s how Netflix describes it: “Amelia Sacks (Eve Hewson) is about to marry into one of the wealthiest families on Nantucket. Her disapproving future mother-in-law, famous novelist Greer Garrison Winbury (Kidman), has spared no expense in planning what promises to be the premiere wedding of the season — until a body turns up on the beach.

What could go wrong in one of the wealthiest perfect families on Nantucket? Netflix has dropped the trailer for “The Perfect Couple,” an adaptation of Elin Hilderbrand’s eponymous murder mystery book.
Set to Franki Valli’s “Can’t Take My Eyes Off of You,” the trailer sees novelist Greer Garrison Winbury (Nicole Kidman) and her husband Tag Winbury (Liev Schrieber), the heads of a seemingly perfect family. Amelia Sacks (Eve Hewson) is set to marry into their wealthy clan.
Greer (Kidman) is the mom of Amelia’s fiancée Benji Winbury (Billy Howle) and has expensed their wedding, set to be the toast of the season. But, it seems like the family has some secrets buried.
“The key to this family is just stay on the periphery,” Abby Winbury (Dakota Fanning), Benji’s sister, tells Amelia. “Where it’s safe.”
But, before the pair’s nuptials, a body turns up on the beach.

The Writers Guild of America West has negotiated a settlement with CBS over work that occurred after writers rooms were shut down on several shows that has awarded $3.05 million to 24 writers, union leaders informed members on Wednesday.
According to a member message, the settlement resulted from an arbitration claim that the union filed for writers on MacGyver, Seal Team and Hawaii 5-0. “Guild members providing writing services on these series were required to continue working even though the studio had declared the [writers] rooms closed and stopped making weekly compensation and benefit contribution payments to the impacted writers,” WGA West president Meredith Stiehm, vp Michele Mulroney and secretary-treasurer Betsy Thomas wrote. The WGA West contended that this practice violated its minimum basic agreement and that staff writers and so-called “Article 14 writers” (scribes who have a “story editor” title or higher) should have been paid weekly and received benefit contributions for that working period.

Originally announced last year under the title Mother Land, the next film from director Alexandre Aja (High Tension, The Hills Have Eyes, Piranha 3D, Crawl) is now titled Never Let Go, and Lionsgate has released the official trailer this morning. Watch it below.
Never Let Go arrives in theaters on September 27, 2024. The premise for this one looks to be similar to films including A Quiet Place and Bird Box, centered on a small family unit’s struggle to survive within a world gone to hell. There’s a whole lot of snake-like imagery in this first look trailer – jump to 1:44 for a blink-and-miss-it little tease… or check out our screen-grab below – but the threat outside their door is still very much a mystery at this point in time.
All we know is… one touch is all it takes…
Academy Award winner Halle Berry is leading the film’s cast.

Jan de Bont’s action thriller Speed is considered to be one of the best in the genre. Moreover, the chemistry between Sandra Bullock and Keanu Reeves was the equivalent of a cherry on top. The romance is a slow burn as the characters keep the audience waiting for something to happen between the two but it isn’t until the very end that Annie and Jack share a passionate kiss.
Jan de Bont’s Speed (1994).
However, this didn’t mean that there wasn’t a spark between the two as they held on to their dear lives in the speeding bus. They do share a few moments of eye contact here and there and as per Sandra Bullock, this really helped the two to build a connection before their big kiss; something which she hilariously dubbed as “foreplay.”
