Andrew Santino — the comedian, actor and host of podcasts “Whiskey Ginger” and “Bad Friends” with Bobby Lee — has set his next stand-up special at Hulu.

The comedy hour will be executive produced by Peyton Manning’s Omaha Productions banner. The special joins the streamer’s “Hularious” lineup, which boasts a roster that includes Bill Burr, Chris Distefano, Jim Gaffigan, Ilana Glazer, Jessica Kirson, Matteo Lane, Sebastian Maniscalco, Atsuko Okatsuka and Roy Wood Jr.

While a release date for Santino’s special was not announced, “Hularious” kicks off on Nov. 22. It also features a curated collection of previously released stand-up specials licensed from smaller distributors like 800 Pound Gorilla, Comedy Dynamics, and Don’t Tell Comedy, among others.

In 2015, Santino released a Comedy Central half-hour stand-up special alongside his debut album “Say No More.” He made his stand-up debut on Adam DeVine’s “House Party” and has since performed on “Conan” and “The Meltdown.

The actor who previously starred in Station 19 has a recurring role as Agent Tyler Booth in season 4 of FBI: International.

After a prolonged battle with appendiceal cancer, Adan Canto, the Mexican-American actor who turned his music career in Mexico into a Hollywood leading man, passed away on January 8. His age was 42.

Canto most recently portrayed the male lead for the first two seasons of Fox’s drama series The Cleaning Lady. Canto hoped to return to the cast later in the season, even though his health prevented him from filming when the next Season 3 concluded in December 2023 after the SAG-AFTRA strikes ended. “It seems lately I have had to make too many posts like this one, but I am heartbroken by the loss of Adan Canto,” Sutherland lamented on Instagram on Tuesday. “He was such a wonderful spirit. As an actor, his desire to do well, to be great, and then do better was truly impressive and he will be greatly missed. I am also heartbroken for his wife, Steph and his two young children. “Actor Adan Canto died on Jan. 8, 2024, of appendiceal cancer,” Canto’s publicist, Jennifer Allen, confirmed in a statement to TVLine. “Adan had a depth of spirit that few truly knew. Those who glimpsed it were changed forever. He leaves behind his wife, best friend and creative partner Stephanie Ann Canto as well as his two greatest works of art, Roman Alder, three-and-a-half years of age, and Eve Josephine, one-and-a-half years of age. He will be greatly missed by so many.

Exclusive: Dan Ahdoot, who has starred in series such as Cobrai Kai, and Vali Chandrasekaran, an exec producer on Modern Family are behind a new Muslim-American comedy that is in development at ABC.

The Disney-owned broadcast network is working up the untitled comedy from 20th Television.

It is centered around Mohammad “Mo” Al-Hayati, a young Muslim-American doctor in rural red state America, who struggles to become a trusted pillar of his community despite not knowing anything about how real life works there. Or anywhere.

The series is loosely based on a chapter in Ahdoot’s upcoming book of essays – Undercooked: How I Let Food Become My Life Navigator and How Maybe That’s A Dumb Way To Live, which is being released by Crown Publishing early next year.

Ginger Gonzaga has joined Marvel Studios’ “She-Hulk” in a main role, an individual with knowledge of the project told TheWrap.

Gonzaga will portray the best friend of Tatiana Maslany’s Jennifer Walters/She-Hulk on the Disney+ series. In the comics, Walters is close friends with Pasty Walker, who has been played by Rachael Taylor on Netflix’s “Jessica Jones.” Though the Netflix show was produced by Marvel Television rather than Marvel Studios, it supposedly exists inside the Marvel Cinematic Universe — meaning Gonzaga will likely be playing a different character than Walker.

Marvel Studios declined to comment.

Gonzaga recurred on Showtime’s “Kidding” and “I’m Dying Up Here,” and was a series regular on ABC’s short-lived “Mixology.”

She-Hulk is a legal comedy that centers on the eponymous heroine (Maslany), aka Jennifer Walters, an attorney who has similar powers to her cousin, Bruce Banner/The Hulk.

Gonzaga plays Walters’ best friend. As announced at Disney Investor Day, Avengers star Mark Ruffalo will reprise his role as The Hulk and Tim Roth is reprising his Hulk character of The Abomination on She-Hulk.

The series is directed by Kat Coiro and Anu Valia, with Jessica Gao serving as head writer.

Book your blowout at Christophe and pop your luxury tents — Sony Pictures has ordered a sequel to the 1989 comedy “Troop Beverly Hills.”

The film, about a pampered Los Angeles housewife (Shelley Long) who roughs it as Wilderness Girls scout to bond with her daughter, is getting an update from director Oran Zegman, Variety has learned.

The Los Angeles-based Israeli director will mark her feature debut with the untitled sequel, set to release under Sony’s TriStar Pictures banner. “The Greatest Showman” producer Laurence Mark is on board to produce.

“Troop Beverly Hills” is perhaps Long’s most memorable movie turn, scoring laughs as a precious fish out of water who applies her Rodeo Drive street skills to the great outdoors. Tri-Star has set a sequel to the 1989 Shelley Long feature Troop Beverly Hills with AFI Conservatory grad Oran Zegman making her feature directorial debut.

Oscar nominated Laurence Mark will produce the film off a screenplay by Aeysha Carr with a rewrite by Tamara Chestna, who will also have a producerial role.

The original movie was based on the life events of Ava Fries. Long played a pampered Beverly Hills housewife trying to prove to her daughter that she can rough it as a Wilderness Girls leader. Fries produced the original movie and wrote the story which had a screenplay by Pamela Norris and Margaret Oberman and was directed by Jeff Kanew, produced by Weintraub Entertainment. Fries is returning with Charles W. Fries to executive produce. Nicole Brown and Shary Shirazi will oversee for the studio.

Zegman is an Israeli filmmaker based in Los Angeles.

Paramount is developing a remake of the classic ’80s comedy “Planes, Trains and Automobiles” that will star Kevin Hart and Will Smith, an individual with knowledge of the project told TheWrap.

Hart and Smith will also produce the remake of the 1987 film that starred Steve Martin and John Candy, and Aeysha Carr, who has worked on “Brooklyn Nine Nine” and the upcoming Hulu series “Woke,” will write the screenplay as her debut feature film.

John Hughes directed the original film that was the story of two men fighting the elements and each other in order to get home for the holidays. The new film will be a modern update of the original that will star Smith and Hart as the oil-and-water duo. The original film is famous for the late John Candy’s performance as a wholesome but irritating shower curtain ring salesman and a legendarily profane tirade from Martin.

Exclusive: Showrunner Lara Olsen has signed with Apa. Olsen served as showrunner on Netflix’s drama Spinning Out, starring Kaya Scodelario and January Jones as a daughter and mother struggling with the pressures of competitive figure skating and mental illness.

Olsen got her start writing for many years in half-hour comedy before transitioning into one-hour television. Her first show-running job was on 90210, helming the show for its final two seasons. From there, she pursued development opportunities and served as co-showrunner on CW’s Reign for its final season.

More recently, Olsen served as showrunner on the Netflix series Free Rein, and as co-executive producer on the CBS swashbuckling adventure Blood & Treasure. Her background includes work on Mixology, Life Unexpected, and Shondaland’s Private Practice, among other series.

With her former writing partner, Olsen also wrote and produced the CBS pilot NY-lon, based on the original series which aired on U.

ICM Partners on Friday filed a motion in its legal battle with the Writers Guild of America to have the guild and its writers’ complaints against the agency thrown out.

Modern Family executive producer Vali Chandrasekaran has signed a new overall deal with 20th Century Fox Television, the studio behind the Emmy-winning ABC comedy.

You know how they say when a stand-up comedian is failing miserably, he’s “dying”? Well, Showtime’s new dramedy I’m Dying Up Here knows all about that feeling.

Set to the groovy tune of “Blinded by the Light,” the first trailer for the upcoming series, set in the stand-up comedy scene of 1970s L.A., delivers just as much angst as it does laughter. And it comes courtesy of a guy who lived through it: Mega-star Jim Carrey, a stand-up veteran himself, is an executive producer.

Some sound like familiar shows, others like mutant Frankenstein hybrids of familiar shows. At its 2014 Digital Content Newfronts presentation, Yahoo announced Sin City Saints, a TV-length series from Arli$$ creator Mike Tollin. Sin City Saints still doesn't have an exact release date, but Yahoo has announced the actors who will make up to show's principal cast, including Andrew Santino, Malin Akerman, and Tom Arnold. Sin City Saints will star Santino (of ABC's Mixology) as the owner of the titular team, a pro basketball franchise based in Las Vegas. A release from Yahoo describes Santino's character as "unpredictable and charismatic," a description reminiscent of Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban. Ackerman, perhaps best known for her role in Watchmen, will play a legal assistant to the NBA Commissioner. Arnold, who has appeared in dozens of productions over the past 20 years, will play a casino host. As you might expect for a show about basketball, Sin City Saints also features several former NBA players among its cast.

A fan-favorite Teen Wolf actor is about to discover the dark — and potentially deadly — side of selfies.

Ian Nelson, who recurs as the younger version of Tyler Hoechlin’s Derek Hale on the MTV drama, will appear in a Season 10 episode of Criminal Minds, TVLine has learned. Nelson will play an emotionally complex teen unnerved by taunts he and his friends receive in the form of morbid selfies posted online.

Criminal Minds returns Oct. 1 at 9/8c on CBS.

Young Ducky is coming to NCIS—and we’ll get to meet him in the swingin’ 70s.

Later this season, Mixology alum Adam Campbell is set to play a younger version of NCIS’ loquaciously charming and universally beloved medical examiner Ducky (David McCallum), and EW has the first look.

In an episode slated for Oct. 7, Special Agent Bishop (Emily Wickersham) and Ducky travel to the U.K. when an estranged friend from his youth is connected to a case. Naturally, flashbacks abound. “To cast a young David McCallum and set it in 1970s London, we had a terrific time,” executive producer Gary Glasberg says.

Coming off of what showrunner Gary Glasberg has called a “tumultuous” Season 11 — during which two casting changes took place, the seeds were planted for a New Orleans spin-off and the passing of Ralph Waite was written in — CBS’ NCIS is back in “classic” form, Sean Murray tells TVLine.

The Season 12 opener (airing Tuesday at 8/7c) thrusts Murray’s McGee into a Russian hot zone with boss man Gibbs (played by Mark Harmon), paving the way for the introduction of a new adversary. Here, Murray previews all that and more.
