The scenes set at Noah's synagogue were filmed at Sinai Temple in Los Angeles. For the purposes of the movie the congregation is called Temple Chai instead ("chai" being the Hebrew word for "life") but when Joanne says the building is on Wilshire Boulevard, that is accurate; the real Sinai Temple building is also on Wishire Boulevard in the Westwood area.
Ryan Hansen plays a character named Kyle and wears a t shirt with the fictional band Karma Rocket from the show Party Down where he plays a character named Kyle.
