Stumbling upon the 2024 movie "The Vampire Next Door" by random luck here in 2024, and never having heard about it, I opted to sit down and watch it, given the fact that it is a new vampire-themed horror movie that I hadn't already seen. And I was sort of hoping that given the movie's title and synopsis, then maybe it would be a movie somewhat akin to "Fright Night".
I have to say that the movie's cover/poster was cheesy, so very, very cheesy, and it felt like the movie might have belonged in the "True Blood" universe, or that kind of teenage girl vampire fantasy setting.
The narrative in "The Vampire Next Door" was rather slow paced and uneventful, and that made sitting through the movie somewhat of a struggle and an ordeal. And I have to say that I was close to giving up on watching it more than once throughout the course of the 110 minutes that the movie ran for. So writer and director Sean King didn't exactly impress me with his 2024 horror movie "The Vampire Next Door".
And I am not fully sure of what genre of movie Sean King was aiming for here. Was it supposed to be an actual horror movie, or perhaps a horror comedy? Either way, the attempt wasn't particularly successful, especially since the movie was light in the horror department and rather lacking in the comedy department.
I wasn't familiar with the cast ensemble in the movie, but it should be noted that the actors and actresses on the cast list actually put on good performances and brought the characters and story to life on the screen in a good way.
The movie could have benefitted tremendously for a more upscaled narrative and also a more effective trim in the editing room, because running at nearly two hours and with so precious little happening in the narrative, just didn't exactly make for a grand viewing experience.
There was a little bit of blood and violence in the movie, which sort of did help to keep the movie somewhat afloat. But it just wasn't nowhere enough to sustain nearly two hours of virtually nothing happening and all of the movie's shortcomings.
My rating of "The Vampire Next Door" lands on a four out of ten stars.

It feels like someone's fantasy wrapped with a story, just to make it a movie. Or maybe a creepypasta story that someone liked so much, they wanted to film it.
-The acting is decent, needs improvement.
-Visually, there's nothing wrong it.
-There's some repetitive moments, like when the main character is looking through the window. The two or three times he is seeing the same thing- a hot girl, with variations of what she is doing. Or the moment when he is sitting in his car and witnessing the vampire killing someone. It happens two times. This is a lack of creativity and ideas. Thos could have been done better.
-The suspenseful soundtrack doesn't do it's job. It isn't scary, or mysterious. Everything feels unreal, so it can't scare us.
The most positive thig about this movie?... Well, If the filmmakers can put emphasis on the two hot girls, so can I. But I'm not going for the vampires. They are like video game characters. They can't impess me with overly sexual stuff. Liz is my girl. The actress is gorgeous. I really hope she will appear in more movies.

You should not go in this expecting a masterpiece. Its low budget, plot is nothing revolutionary. Camera work is decent, acting is not bad, the main actor Cameron was sorta ok. I think the girls are newish in the acting business, so they do look a little bit off.
Its a story of a girl living next door to him, that happens to be a vampire on a mission. I will not give too much details, but when she does kill the old man that is supposed to be a vampire, you never actually see anything that would make him a vampire. Strange decision by the director.
I did chuckle and laugh few times at the jokes, mostly at his workplace. I did not really see much chemistry between the characters, and the last scene when the blonde was explaining the brunette the past was rushed. Funny thing that only the kiss between the two girls was pretty darn good, its like that is the only chemistry that really stood out. Its like they are dating in real life haha.
Overall a decent horror vampire comedy. Nothing spectacular, but not really that bad.

The special effects budget was about £2.50, most of which was spent on red corn syrup and eyeliner to draw squiggly lines on Victoria's face. Victoria's costumes came from the SHEIN Halloween sale. Cameron was as likeable as Covid on your birthday and at least then you still get presents. Why Diane was vaguely interested in Cameron was the greatest mystery as she was a beautiful woman and he looked like a McDonald's employee. For the entire film the ice cream shop didn't have a single customer to save on the cost of extras. All of this terribleness was why I couldn't stop watching this movie until the end. At one point it seemed like it was going to turn into a porno but alas no as this did seem to be the director's true calling. All the actors gave it their best shots with what little they had to work with. Gold stars to you all and to the director and writer I will leave you with the comment my sister's teacher gave her in a school report "Jessica always likes to contribute in class however the relevance of her contributions are not always apparent".

I love comedy horror. It's a tradition between my husband & I to enjoy these movies together for a laugh. The cheesier the better. I never like to be critical of anyone's work. No matter what, I like to consider peoples art. The storyline was predictable & would've been fun but due to the vapid & preposterous behavior of the male characters it became a bit hard to take. I understand wanting to make strong female characters but do we have to make the males in the film downright silly & buffoonish? It didn't/ doesn't come off as comedic because every male character in the film lacks intellect...
After reading the reviews, I really wasn't expecting a lot... It is a bit 'B' movie'ish but it certainly wasn't the worst film I've seen...
It wasted and hour and a half while I was waiting for the washing to tumble... Girls were attractive even if the story wasn't the most original...
Think a low budget Fright Night... Maybe withba bigger budget it may have been better but I thought it was fine as it was - Not every film can be a massive blockbuster... Sure there aren't going to be any 'Oscars' won in this film... But it is quite engaging...
Go on - Give it a go on a dull Sunday afternoon.... You won't be disappointed... Just don't set your expectations too high...

Flat is the best way i can think of to describe it and the ending was stupid . A six your old would have written a better script it definitely would have been more imaginative and entertaining. It was like they were deliberately trying to make a boring movie by excluding any tension , mystery , humour , or an real excitement. A few little tweaks to the scenes would have been enough and of course the stupid twist , that they tried to explain with an even more pathetic backstoy. The twist just didn't work because , they just didn't it set up right .It felt forced and wasn't really a shock at all . Pathetic. I gave it 3/10 originally but as im writnig i realise thats too genorous, but I can't change the rating . And as beautiful as the female leads are ,the blonde lady was far to old for the role .Still beautiful and young looking but just to old for that role and it showed especially next to the male lead
. It could of been good even great but its not even so bad its good level , pretty sure the writer or director is a fan of Clerks and the Original Buffy the Vampire Slayer movie.

I started watching this and couldn't believe it was filmed in 2024. It felt like a cheap low budget movie from the 80s. The actors are so bland and monotone. Nothing about this film is creative or funny. It's just a bunch of nonsense that a child could have written. The main actor seemed like he was smirking the whole time and being playful. I wouldnt recommend this movie even it was free. One a lighter note the girls are pretty and one of them looks just like Kim Kardashian. It's her replica! Don't waste your time. Don't bother if you're into cool vampire shows. I just wish they would come out with some thing smart and worth watching!
1. OVERVIEW - My ratings for the movie is a solid 8 out of 10. Highlighting that the movie is a low-budget kind of movie, it does a really good job at being entertaining and fun as well as being interesting! The actors were good. The lead did a fantastic job at keeping that teenager, light hearted-messing around, kind of vibe alive and I loved that! The story was really good, it was interesting, and not too involving which fits the movie so well. The production, it's not like a ridiculously well-budget Hollywood movie with absolutely perfect screenplay and stuff, rather it is a simple-budget, straight-forward, casual and fun movie, with a decent production quality. It's kind of like a youtube short-film! Also, the slow pace, kind of adds warmth and a comfy feeling to the movie. Makes it more connecting.
In my opinion, it is a simple, light-hearted vampire movie showcasing the adventurous and twisty (yet hilarious) journey of a confused, not too serious teenager, who tackles the situations and finds ways to work things out, eventually getting on the right track.
2. WHO IS THIS MOVIE FOR? - Dude, if you are a teenager about 18 or 19 who can relate a lot with Cameron (the lead) OR If you are kinda old (maybe 40+) who is looking to get a glimpse of their teenage life once again in a casual and hilarious way, then heck yeah! Watch the movie bro! Also, If you just want to watch a casual entertaining movie, without really getting too involved in the story and stuff, then yeah, watch it! (Btw I am currently 18 at the time of this review, I freaking loved this movie! Cameron is just god-dang relatable man! Enjoyed it a lot)

Yeah, B Movie Vampire with all the chringe you can't handle.. Not much more to really say about this... Came accross it and thought it might be one of those B movies that is so bad, its acctually good, Sharknado, Sharknado2, Sharknado3, Sharknado4, Sharknado (and however much more they squeeze into that series to death), meg (but not a B movie, but made to look like one), etc... Don't go in with high hopes and see it for what it is, pretty bad acting/directing/script/etc...
Plus, anyone see anything suspissious about the cover??? It looks just like the entire TrueBlood Series on HBO posters. Same thing, the white figure/charector with fangs out and blood dripping down and tongue wipping along their lips.

Wow, never would I have thought that paying to rent a movie on Amazon would get me a poor B-movie at the beginning of 2024. I suppose that's what I should have suspected when a brand new movie released in 2024 is already available to rent on Amazon in January 2024. Poor acting, poor storyline, poor location and shooting. I was lured in by the cover. Don't be fooled! Its a terrible movie -- might be ok if didn't pay to see it but you'll regret it either way. Amazon you did me wrong. How do I rate this movie lower? I have seventy five more words to write to be able to post this review and I don't have anything else to say.

It started off better than it ended. Too many coincidences and when it got slow all I could think was if this was a porn the movie would be so much better! Someone needs to find some body doubles (as the actresses seem too uptight to embrace their primal side without along the constraints of social programming to control their choices) I'm sure all the male actors would say hell yea so body doubles needed and splice this the way it should play out! Each one of the love interest kind of blends especially what he sees through his window two thirds of the way in, that had some potential. Either way if it is on sale and you've literally watched at least half of what is on the internet go for it you've already seen worse.
This movie was really good. But if you're expecting a horror, it ain't really that.
It's not really a coming of age movie either. It's something kind of in between.
The lead character has a crush on the 'girl next door' character. But he's (like all of us were) a bit too awkward to push it.
Meanwhile, a new girl moves in next door. And she's really something else.
She orders him around. And he takes a liking to her. And from there things get interesting. Turns out, the girl he's had a crush on, and the new girl have something in common.
Meanwhile, one of his coworkers has an interest in him, and he just totally doesn't notice because of all the other stuff going on.
Overall, I liked it because it touched on that stage of life when we had no idea what we were doing, but were quick to latch onto whatever. And threw a nice supernatural spin on it around the edges.
If you couldn't tell by the title, there are Vampires involved. As portrayed in the movie, helps make us think about ourselves as humans.

I watched this and got totally engrossed in it. Who doesn't miss the 1980s and doesn't just love a hot sexy femme fatale vampire? This film reminded me of a time (2000s) when life was simpler, innocent, and fun. It made me feel like a teen again and very nostalgic. Which hot blooded teenage boy doesn't fantasize about being caught up in a love triangle with a succubus and a high school sweet heart?
The lead trio are very good actors: the vampire, the teen and the high school crush. The story was good, pacing was good and was a fun watch with good supportive cast. I have saved this movie, and will likely watch it again.
I will now be binge watching as many vampire flicks as I can for the rest of May!

The team behind this film clearly are fans of 80s B-grade classics like Once Bitten and its ilk. The film was clearly modelled on such fare, trying for the same sassy 1980s style with a few peripheral updates to pull the film into the 21st century. With tighter production it might almost have hit the mark. Unfortunately, the film as delivered falls short. Maybe 80s chatty comedy horror just doesn't work in the modern meilleau. Maybe a tighter package would have gotten it over the line...
The film is intermittently in possession of most of the key elements of its more successful predecessors (down to its synth-heavy soundtrack), but tends toward being loose and uneven, and prone to meander. Its cast is sufficiently attractive and adequately skilled, and most of them have moments of on-point delivery, but somehow their performances get lost in the folds of the films excesses. And in terms of excesses, I'm not talking about gore - the film virtually has none. In fact, it really could have gone far harder on the horror aspect, which might have acted as an elevating counterpoint to its more syrupy heart.
All in all, it has enough charm to keep you watching to the end, but could have been so much more than the parts it scatters around liberally.

So I see the average score and people talking about it and i decided to watch it and see what it was about. Now, at first, I didn't really see a problem with this movie. The acting was good enough, and the storyline was decent enough but you could tell the budget was kind of low, and the reason is because of where the movie is shot. There aren't any crazy scenes that are super cool. A lot of the movie is shot in like a hallway, bedroom, street corner and so on. My only issue with the movie was it did start to become predictable because of the mission our main characters were on. However, that being said it was still fun while they were on the mission. Now once the elements of the story came together it was very lackluster. I think there is where a lot of people will have issues with it. Our main story vampire and our main character find out what they need to find out and once they do which had all this buildup kind of fell very flat, and then the movie kind of ended and the ending was kind of crappy.
In the end, I wanted more and I kind of wanted to see what happened to the characters after the end and it would have been better if they had wrapped up the characters better. Anyways, give it a shot.

When I hear about a low budget film my expectations usually drop through the floor because film makers tend to 'save' in the wrong areas.
I really enjoyed the feel of this movie. The lead roles are caricatured in a very 'American Pie' kind of way and I enjoyed the humour that came with the way they acted. It seemed less self-conscious than most of the Hollywood offerings.
The story won't have you leaping out of your seat but it was perfect for a fun night in and there were so many plusses that I was surprised by the low rating. There was one indoor fight scene that made me aware it was quite low budget, and that's no great loss compared to the unending yawn factor of the mano-a-mano end fight scenes in nearly every big budget film these days.
Other than that, I loved the fact that the places where the scenes were shot were thanked personally at the end and that all the music was specific for the film. I feel that if they had a limited budget, they really used the money in the right places. Great fun.
