Netflix is reportedly working on a sequel series of One Tree Hill, the popular coming-of-age teen drama series that aired for nine seasons between 2003 and 2012. According to Variety, the streamer plans to reboot the series with original stars Sophia Bush and Hilarie Burton reprising their roles as Brooke Davis and Peyton Sawyer, respectively. Bush and Burton are also said to be on board to executive produce the series alongside fellow Og star Danneel Ackles, who will produce under her Chaos Machine banner along with her husband, Jensen Ackles. Sources also tell the outlet that Danneel is currently in talks to reprise her role as Rachel Gatina. There is no word yet on whether any other original series stars plan to return for the sequel. A sequel series of “One Tree Hill” is currently in the works at Netflix, Variety has learned from sources.

Sources say that original series stars Sophia Bush, Hilarie Burton, and Daneel Ackles are executive producing the reboot. Ackles will executive produce under her Chaos Machine banner along with her husband, Jensen Ackles. Becky Hartman-Edwards is attached to write and executive produce. Warner Bros. Television, which produced the original series, would also produce the followup.

Bush and Burton would reprise their roles from the show with Ackles also in talks to return. No word yet on if other original series stars would also return at this time.

Netflix and Wbtv declined to comment.

As the release date for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 gets even closer, Activision has started unveiling teasers for the much-anticipated Zombies mode. They are using a unique method to release these teasers, making them exciting and mysterious for fans.

Chile’s most prominent film event, the Santiago Int’l Film Festival (Sanfic) celebrates its 20th edition with 10 Chilean titles in competition, chosen from a record 40 submissions this year.

“We usually receive an annual average of 25 entries of which we select eight to nine titles,” said festival director Carlos Nuñez who co-founded the festival with Gabriela Sandoval who runs the industry section.

He attributes the proliferation of films this year, in part, to the urge of young, upcoming filmmakers to make their mark in the world of cinema. “Most of the directors in our selection are young and only making their first or second films,” Nuñez pointed out, adding that most of the titles are debut features. This year’s crop has only one female director but many of the producers behind them are predominantly women, he noted.

Exclusive: TCLtv+, the streaming service of the Chinese electronics group, is launching a new, AI-focused accelerator for film and television creatives.

The shorts program, called Tcl Film Machine, offers development, financial and production support to working creatives, looking to enhance and elevate their films using AI tools. In an opening Meet the Distributors session featuring French firms Newen Studios, Studiocanal, Mediawan Rights and Oble, Austria’s Orf Enterprises and Germany’s Bavaria Media here at Seriencamp in Cologne, the topic of how content is priced internationally a key theme.

Charles Toubout, Head of Content at Mediawan Rights, said he had been approached about a European project whose first season was financed through an all-rights deal with a global streamer. Newen’s investment was sought to fill gaps in the budget and get a second season into production, with the streamer keen to keep the show in some territories, but also unwilling to fully finance it. “It is more an adjustment of value,” he said.

Ostensibly a big-screen reboot of the 1980s television series of the same name, “The Fall Guy” is actually director and former stunt performer David Leitch’s love letter to both his wife, producer Kelly McCormick, and the undersung art of stunt work — only not always in that order.

Working closely with screenwriter and executive producer Drew Pearce, who previously scripted his “Fast and the Furious” spinoff “Hobbs & Shaw,” Leitch creates a clearinghouse of gobsmacking stunts (some truly record-breaking) while chronicling the tumultuous relationship between veteran stunt man Colt Seavers (Ryan Gosling) and first-time director Jody Moreno (Emily Blunt). It’s quick-witted (and quick-footed) fun that bridges multiple generations of Hollywood moviemaking, melding together rom-coms and bombastic action into one blockbuster package.

Since making his screenwriting debut on Shane Black’s “Iron Man 3,” Pearce has developed an aptitude for conceiving stories that maintain a singular yet cohesive tonal balance.

Marvel Studios has several projects in the making bound to be released over the course of the next few years. Despite Iger’s recent comments that the studio should focus on quality over quantity and ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ being the only movie to release in 2024, they see no signs of stopping.

Now that the strike has cleared up, there are some projects that have been stuck in development hell for quite some time now, and some projects that need to be rushed in order for the MCU timeline to make sense without too many edits. It’s time for these projects to move on with the production.

Florence + The Machine have announced a special performance of their debut album, Lungs, in celebration of its 15th anniversary. Entitled “Symphony of Lungs,” the concert is set to go down on September 11th at the Royal Albert Hall in London as part of the BBC Proms classical music festival. It will be aired live on BBC Radio 3.

The concert will see Florence Welch perform the album in full with backing from Jules Buckley and his Orchestra. In addition to its live airing, the performance will be recorded for future broadcast on BBC Radio 1, BBC Two, and BBC iPlayer.
