I am a big fan of horror films. So I love to support independent horror movies. So, consequently I noticed this one could be interesting as very similar movies like the great Terrifier. But I was wrong. This can not be categorized as a cheap copy of Terrifier.
First, The Jester as a villain is great. I mean for a b-horror is acceptable. I've watched tons of worst things, including Zombie's strippers. Yes, it's a movíe. So, the big letdown here is the script. It's only interesting 15 minutes. Then it becomes incoherent and impossible to believe if your brain still works. A lot of plot holes, bad acting and the ending is ridiculous.
Second, overall the whole thing is a mess. A wasted opportunity to create something at least decent. So, much potential wasted. C'mon.
Last, I do not recommend this one, even for people that need to choose between washing dishes or watch this abomination.

Boooooooooo!
Not in the the Halloween way either..I give it a generous 3 for the Jester and costume. The movie lacked substance. Towards the end of the film it just got worse. I was hoping the reviews were wrong. The low reviews were pretty much spot on. It wasn't comical it wasn't funny so it's like what was it? It is not worth a second look I can say that much. It was kind of what I expected but a little worse. I didn't think he was going to try to pull pranks into murders though. It could of been so much better if it went slasher route. It was a wannabe be Black Book and just fell flat. As I said 3 for the Jester.

Watched in 3 trys. Movie is boring.
Downloaded, watched for 1 hour, stopped. Another day another 10 min, stopped and decided to finish watching the rest.
Not scary, acting a bit poor by some actors. Actor on pretending to be Jester did a good job comparing to other actors and they picked wrong actress as supporting actress for Jester.
Don't really know what else to say because it's literally boring movie for most people. I watched over 1k movies and I do like a good horror movies but this is far away from a good horror movie. I think as well huge mistake was on making all deaths slow because made feel movie as even more slower...

It's not scary; It's not funny; It's just bad...beyond bad
Buckle up, my fellow horror fans, because I've just stumbled upon a film that left me in a state of speechlessness - and not in a good way, mind you. Now, I'm not one to write reviews, but this cinematic atrocity has pushed me to do so.
I was feeling generous, so I'm giving a single star towards its well-executed special effects, but in a world where 2023 has raised the bar to sky-high standards, this film barely scrapes the term 'special.' Plus, there's a creepy-looking villain who could easily be mistaken for Art the clown's less intimidating cousin from Terrifier.
Let's talk plot, or should I say, the lack of it. This movie's storyline is so nonsensical that it doesn't deserve the dignified title of a plot. It's a baffling puzzle where every piece is missing, and trying to make sense of it will give you a headache.
To make matters worse, the entire cast of characters in this disaster is a parade of annoyance and unlikability. I'm convinced these actors are the remnants of a bargain-basement, last-resort acting class, and their performances are more cringe-inducing than a middle school talent show.
The dialogue is an absolute chore. It's not the kind of bad that'll have you in stitches like Tommy Wiseau's "The Room," but it's the bad that leaves you scratching your head, wondering how in the world this film ever got the green light.
And let's not forget the most essential part of a horror flick - the scare factor. In this case, there isn't one. It's as if the film-makers tried to conjure terror from a hat (literally), but all they pulled out were a few rabbits that looked more bored than frightening.
To sum it up, "Do Not Waste Your Time" should have been the official tagline of this cinematic disaster. This movie isn't scary, it isn't funny, and it makes as much sense as trying to solve a Rubik's Cube with oven mittson. Save yourself the agony and find something else to watch - anything else.

Pale immitation of Terrfier
This movie is very obviously a sad attempt at recreating Art the Clown from Terrifier. The first 5 mins of the movie there are 3 not so terrifying deaths. Nothing original about this movie. If you want to see a movie like this that's actually good I suggest to sticking with All Hallows Eve franchise. The absolute boring overtone of this movie is clearly evident the longer you watch. The mask should have been a dead give a away that this movie was going to be as dull and uneventful as The Black Phone. There was a lot they could have done to make this movie a success. Sadly it seems they put little to no effort into creating a new concept. Like all other scary movies that have come out post covid, this is surely a flop.

I just watched this for free and I still feel scammed
Honestly what in the ever loving flip was that? Whoever wrote this film should never ever ever and I can't express this enough EVER step foot in a writers room again. It was terrible. I mean it was so bad I can't even give it extra stars for the kills that were somewhat good because the rest of the film was just bad. It's a cheap knock off Terrifier and that's pushing it because it couldn't touch it with a 1000ft barge pole. Honestly don't waste your time
Don't even get me started on the acting either. They literally killed off the only person who can actually act in the first five minutes.
I didn't pay a penny to watch this film but I feel absolutely scammed. I honestly would have rather spent my time staring at a wall doing absolutely nothing than wasting my time with this absolute rubbish. I'd give it a 0 if I could.

Should never have been made into a feature length film.
I remember watching a 10 minute short of this on YouTube around 6 or 7 years ago. It was clever, punchy and to the point. It worked as a short film, but just doesn't cut it as a 90 minute horror film.
There's not enough material to pad this out to a feature length film unfortunately. The 'Jester' doesn't seem as charming in this, that was one of the great things about the short version, he was a quirky, seemingly harmless fun and somewhat charming character who would ultimately do bad things and that worked. Here, right from the off, he's seen as some obviously sinister threat with absolutely no charm whatsoever.
Unfortunately the short on YouTube was so well received that many commenters were crying out for a feature length film. Well, they got their wish, and i hope they're happy, because this, is sadly very poor in many ways.

Creepy, Halloween movie
The movie is good until 3/4 the way through and then, it gets confusing. It lost me. I got bored. The Jester guy is a great villain. I wish the rest of the movie was better. I can't put my finger on what it needs. Something is missing. Maybe better music would have given it more momentum? They could have added more Jester scenes and lost some of the boring conversations. The actors were good. The special effects were great. There was some really creepy stuff. It is a great movie for Halloween. I enjoyed the atmosphere. I couldn't tell what was real and what was here imagination and then, I didn't care. It's too bad. I really wanted to like it.

WTF???????
WTF have I just sat through for 90mins. I mean the low rating this had I thought couldn't be that bad, how wrong was I. Like others had said the acting was very poor, along with the special effects sooooo low budget. I mean the part at the beginning where the dad gets hung, you can see the rope is attached to a harness and not around the actors neck. The knife in the Jester again didn't look real in anyway. How these sort of movies get funded and passed is beyond me. The hole script, to acting, props etc etc is a total let down. These backers must have money to throw away. I was going to give up 40mins in, but persevered and wish I hadn't now, will want and need the 90mins back one day. Don't waste your time on this crap, spend it on something more useful. Would have given a zero star, but that option isn't there. One of the worse movies I have ever sat through, please please please STOP making crap like this. I only watched this because the trailer looked good, how wrong was that. The trailer was the only decent part of the movie and that was 90 seconds long.

What are people rating??
A malevolent being known as The Jester terrorizes the inhabitants of a small town on Halloween night, including two estranged sisters who must come together to find a way to defeat this evil entity.
Its fun and entertaining, grab a beer and some popcorn and have fun. Do people rate a horror film just on stupidity as many have given this less than a 3? Obviously they do not know what a horror movie is...I suppose now you have to have a modern day version of the exorcist that scared people to actually commit suicide to be rated a decent horror flick. "It's not scary" "total waste of time" nothing but a bunch of trolls that spend their time in a basement.

Not as bad as everyone is saying.
Idk what everyone has been going on about. It's a good B starting and C ending right before Halloween movie. The Villian is great. Great costume and the character is creepy and well thought out. Obviously a small
Budget, but overall I think they did pretty good with what they had to work with. A little gore here and there. Some humour. Nothing too unexpected. If anything it was a little unexplained towards the end or lost it's luster a bit. There are way worse movies out here that just have a kid screaming "Babadook"
Annoyingly for over an hour that got better ratings. That one I wish I had a heads up it was that annoying. Good B flick 👍

The Jester's Debacle - A Movie Mess of Unparalleled Frustration
"The Jester" is an absolute travesty. The plot made no sense, and I'm adamant about wanting my money back. The acting was beyond terrible, and the entire film looked painfully cheap - a bootleg version of "Terrifier." The makeup was horrendous, and the story was an incomprehensible mess. I'd never subject myself to such a colossal waste of money again. Trying to decipher the plot felt like a mind-numbing exercise; I genuinely lost brain cells, and it's still a mystery and I'm left wondering how on earth it made it to the cinema.
To add insult to injury, my boyfriend and I were the sole occupants of the cinema, a telling sign we foolishly overlooked. I regret not checking reviews sooner; it might have spared us from this cinematic nightmare. Discovering that the positive reviews are likely crafted by the actors themselves is disheartening and sad. It spreads misinformation about a movie that is undeniably awful, and I wish potential viewers were spared from falling into the same trap.

Jester's Blunder: A movie mess
I can't express my frustration enough with "The Jester." The plot was an absolute disaster, and I feel like I lost brain cells trying to make sense of it. Terrible acting, it looked like it was shot on an iPhone 12 - cheap and amateurish. A bootleg version of "Terrifier" with awful makeup. The story was incomprehensible; I want a refund. It's like a failed school project somehow made it to the cinema. My husband and I, along with a couple behind us, couldn't bear it and literally shouted, "This is actual trash!" We left, and I'd never subject myself to such a waste of money again. It honestly was the worst movie I've ever watched!!

Just bad. I want my time back.
The character of the jester has some potential I think, but it's wasted on every other part of this movie. I can look past the bad effects, what I can't look past is how boring the plot is. I had to sit down 3 separate times to get through this. Every scene was just pointless dialog punctuated by acting that seemed like they weren't even trying. Most of the time the main actress can only show apathy as an emotion and the side characters were so boring and flat I found myself just waiting for them to die. The ending is abrupt and confusing to say the least and I found myself happy it was just finally over. Like I said before it's just bad, and trust me it's not in a "this movie is bad but I'm enjoying it regardless" kind of way. You'll be bored senseless and looking at your phone or any other distraction more than the tv. If you're considering watching this, don't.

WTF did I just watch???
I'm still watching this movie as I'm typing this review. It's so dumb I don't even want to continue watching it but I paid $5 for this movie so I'm going to watch until the end to see how it ends. I've been sitting here the whole time rolling my eyes at how dumb it is. The acting is horrible, the storyline is horrible. Everything about this movie is horrible. It's a hour and a half I'm never going to get back. Do yourself a favour and don't watch this movie. It's not even scary, if you're looking for a horror clown movie watch Terrifier instead. But honestly I would rather get a root canal than watch this movie.

The Jester himself works, NOTHING else does!
If you're looking for a well written, and directed movie, this ain't it! Could easily contain some of the worst writing and direction ever. You've got girls, boys, and men crying minus a single tear...what!? It's called an eye dropper and water guys, it's practically FREE!!
The Jester himself admittedly puts on a talented performance, and you can tell it's ALL down to the actor themself. My guess is that this person is a preforming mime magician, and if they're not, they'd make a very good one. There is simply not a single shred of support from the writer and director to found in the entirety of this movie. Because of this fact it seems like the movie will NEVER end, and believe me when I tell you, that IS the scariest thing about this movie.
The story line is a rambling, confused, and an ill contrived mess. I dunno, maybe this is why the Jester is POed, cause goodness knows that there is no other motive or justification made clear.
For those critics (the movie's crew without a doubt) crying about how because this film wasn't a high budget project no one should be complaining, but rather should be drinking beer and eating popcorn...What!? Really? I got news for you thick-skull and inebriated, movies, despite their budget, are either a) Good, or b) Bad. This movie takes option b) to a whole new and unquestionably TRAGIC level.
Writing, 1 star Directing 1 star (and I'm being generous!) Acting .5 star Originality 0 star Fright 0 star Total, an exceptionally generous 2.5 stars.

Terrifer Without the Talent
By any measurement, this is a horrible movie. From the very first frame you know you are i for ninety minutes of shlock garbage that will put you to sleep instead of scare you.
The main character is a Terrifier knock-off called the Jester, who is basically a dude in a loud orange suit and a bad hard plastic mask.
I'm pretty sure we are not supposed to think it's a mask, but the fake-ness is painfully obvious.
The writing is really bad. And the guy who wrote/directed this should never work again. He has no clue how to keep the action moving.
The movie is staffed with a bunch of third rate "actors" who are probably the local wait staff at a dive bar. They cannot act in the slightest.
The entire production is truly a rip off of the Terrifier series with no talent whatsoever.

The worst this move made no sense it was awful
I very rarely make reviews, but I have to warn people against this movie. I love cheesy horror movies. This movie is bad. John is the best character in this movie and then he's not this movie sucks. Do not watch it. Do not waste your time. I felt like this movie and get it. I thought this movie was offensive to my intelligence I understand plot lines I know how things work yes they spend money in the costume and I get that that's meat but that's not what the reviews about. It was apparently about nothing this movie sucked. Do you not watch it I promise you you will be offended and be upset. Do you know watch this movie?

Clever Story and Great Character!
I have been a fan of The Jester short films since the first one appeared on YouTube in 2016. The Jester himself has always been mysterious which allows the viewer to untangle the character in their own way.
Now, seven years later, that character gets his own full length film written by the original creators of the YouTube shorts. I was lucky enough to be one of the first people to see the movie on the big screen, and I am extremely grateful for that opportunity.
Sitting in the theater, I didn't know what to expect. I know that the short movies are very watchable, no slasher moments where I would have to close my eyes. As I watched The Jester movie, I realized that this is a story with meaningful characters. You get involved in the storyline and hope the main characters end the story better than how they began it. Of course, the character of the Jester is great to watch. Mike's portrayal of the character is spot on.
The good news is that this is not a movie about a continuous killing spree of characters with no names. This is a movie about characters who need to come to terms with what life has given them. And who is this mysterious Jester who appears? That is for you to decide!

Better than Terrifer.
As malevolent , mute men in costumes and masks go this is far better than the nasty, mean spirited Terrifer films, which it clearly emulates.
It's begins with an atmospheric, strong opener with the dependable Matt Servitto (Agent Harris from The Sopranos) and an imaginative credit scene.
Like the previous film I saw before this ' The Puppetman' it contains decent, effective photography that capture a small US town at Halloween ( the only film today I've seen set on Halloween) that elevate it from the usual shoddy looking cheapness of some recent horrors.
The story and script are sub standard at best- the killing of the gravediggers and police and Liam are tacked on to provide gore, This addition never makes sense. The Jester would have been better suited as a unseen entity or at least a more quieter version like Michael Myers; just stalking his victims from behind corners or in the shadows.
The friends are poorly sketched especially when compared to the friends in 'The Puppetmaster' who were better scripted and more sympathetic.
The story really is just a couple of vignettes thrown together to provide chills, however on this Halloween day I succumbed to this low key chiller.

"The Jester" vaguely delivers, the film's potential is entirely wasted.
"The Jester" is a film with potential but fails to fully exploit it. The script is simple, in some scenes effective and in others it becomes ridiculous, but the final explanation of the relationship between the titular character The Jester with the protagonist and her father is interesting. The performances are accomplished but not excellent, for his part Michael Sheffield gives a good performance as The Jester, although it is inevitable not to relate him to Art the Clown who came out first, since they share the same body language and the character seems to be a carbon copy of the already mentioned clown. The cinematography delivers in the night scenes, mainly those filmed outdoors, giving a good Halloween atmosphere and highlighting the orange and purple colors, but in some scenes it looks amateurish. The special makeup effects are gore and done in old school style giving a touch of realism to the film. The director's work was decent but he did not fully exploit his artistic capabilities. "The Jester" vaguely delivers, the film's potential is entirely wasted.
A ten-dollar nap
This is not one of those movies that is so bad that is actually good. This is so bad it is not worth watching.
The plotline is completely inconsistent, and the writing and acting are no gem. People at the movie theater were falling asleep left and right, and that ow definitely a bad sign if you are watching a "horror film".
More than a film, this movie seems to be below the caliber of an amateur college-level project. I don't understand how movies like this get made.
Honest to God, not even worth watching at home on movie night.
As much as I hate to admit this was the first time in a movie theater where I considered taking a nap.
