This movie is worth watching. I am a big horror fan and I loved this movie. Didn't expect anything and walked away so glad I found it online. Such superb editing and story board! Bravo! Hands down one of the most well thought out and perfectly edited horror films I have ever seen and I've seen everything. I will be looking at any and all movies that this director makes. Love horror and this is literally one of the best ones I've seen in years. If you're having second thoughts I promise just jump in head first. You won't be sorry. Loved the ending too: bittersweet. Can't believe how good this was.
A film inspired by scary true events. A happy little family must be disturbed by the strangeness and terror of a sect that rents their house. The terror continues to befall their little daughter who will become a new host for the desired spirit.
Thai films do provide an interesting, unique and creative treat. Home for Rent is one of the proofs of films that provide a new experience in watching horror films. Home for Rent does not just provide the story of a secret sect that is disguised in it, but in terms of stories that have an interesting plot in it. This film has a runtime of 2 hours which may only feel the excitement of this film after an hour after. How not, at the beginning of this film the intensity of the film is quite slow in introducing the characters and conflicts in it. Only an hour later, the film experienced an improvement in the story and became the beginning of the climax of this film. Home for Rent presents a plot twist in it with a backward plot to see it from a different perspective. Not long after, a plot twist occurs again in it with a new angle. Which then connects into a clear unity. Even at the end of the film and the climax of the film still presents an unexpected plot. The climactic scene gives a different ending. Shocking, moving, unexpected and in the end becomes an ending that gives a sense of sincerity in it.
Home for Rent provides an interesting and unique mystical horror treat. Appearing different from the story in general, Home for Rent is not only centered on how the sect works, but on a sad drama. Nothing but a sad drama wrapped in a mystical horror story. Home for Rent has a good lineup of actors. They are able to provide stories that make us curious and feel suspenseful. A story plot that plays nicely. The continuous plot twist makes us continue to be surprised and not expect. Overall, the movie is good.

Almost gave up good movies on Netflix, but then this pearl showed up , this is a very good horror movie , its walk the walk and talk the talk , a horror all inclusive , close to perfect
The story is very good, its scary actually, make you crawl up in the corner with the shamepillow infront of your face, not many movies can do that , this is asian quality on its edge, what I like most in this movie is the nonstop happenings, its start to be creepy pretty fast and then it just keep going with no breaks , you sit like a burning candle from first minute to the last
Acting is ok , effects aswell , but little bit the week points in this movie and it is little bit to long ,,, but this is anyway a very good horror movie.

Home for Rent is a movie that comes out as fresh from the Asian cinema, one that is saturated with ghost stories. Don't get me wrong, this isn't far off either, but it does manage to provide a good plot, non linear execution and plenty of tension and mystery to it.
It was a nice surprise, I do declare myself a fan of this genre, the Asian market has its strong points, but lately nothing scary or convincing came out. This one isn't scary either but I do think it's intelligent, respects its viewer and is made with passion instead of a cash grab project.
Definitely recommended, it takes its time to build a proper story, to include the viewer, to make him question what's happening on the screen and also offers a good ending. So head to toes, a lovely experience here.
Cheers!

I opened the movie without any high expectations. But it wasn't bad. The gradually increasing tension, the effects, the explanation of the subject by everyone, etc. Were all very good. I also liked the acting. I loved the little girl.
When the family of 3 moves to their new house, they are thinking of renting out their old house. Although the father does not want to rent it at first. We understand the reason for this in the middle. Two strange women keep the house. While interesting events occur in their old home, strange events occur in the family's new home. The father of the family also exhibits mysterious behavior.
There is no sexuality or nudity in the movie.

This story was chock-FULL, let me tell you lol. If an average movie is like a paperback book, this one felt like a novel.
I think it edged on convoluted but never quite teetered over that line... it was just full of detail and extensive storytelling. At its pretty long run time of about 2 hours it somehow never really felt like it was dragging... yet still felt like the 2 hr length that it was.
Nothing about this story felt crazy original, yet they still managed to do it in a certain way that felt fresh and intriguing. The visuals were quite nice here and the acting was a high point for sure. The mom in particular did quite a nice job and I was very impressed with the little girls abilities.
This was a fun ride that was spooky, heartfelt and pretty captivating story wise. 6.5 rounding up to a 7, would recommend.

I watched the movie in a theater and bought the ticket for about 2.5$, not knowing anything about it. I'm impressed with Thai and Indonesian horror movies, this one is not an exception.
I don't want to spoil the plot, so I'd say it has more than a possessed item storyline. The movie also tells the story following the sides of each of the two protagonists, explaining certain things and situations in detail.
It's an amazing movie overall and feels like a blockbuster - great CGI, editing and soundtrack, believable acting, etc.
It feels like the team and director respect the viewer, while I can't say it's something super new for the genre, it's definitely really well made and just feels quaility.

Although the movie tries too hard on the Scare-O-Meter by overly playing spooky music at every scene and typical jump scares, the story, suspense and build-up itself is good and made up for that unnecesity.
Synopsis: Ning, Kwin, and their daughter, Ing, shifted to the condo. Ning started to notice a shift in her husband's behavior. He was a little too attached to a red book that he carried along with him wherever he went. When Ning asked him about it, he stated that it was the factory manual. He had also recently had a symbol tattooed on his chest; he blamed it on a game of dare that he indulged in with his colleagues. Ning very well knew that Kwing was lying, but she couldn't understand the reason behind it. When she went back to the house to collect some items, she was a little surprised by Dr. Nuch's behavior. Dr. Nuch was clearly annoyed by Ning's sudden visit and wanted her to leave the house immediately.

This movie was not good. It wasn't scary at all, the plot wasn't exciting, the movie was an hour longer than it needed to be, and overall, it felt quite basic. We follow the story from three different perspectives which becomes repetitive and redundant. There's no room left for mystery or contemplation. The sound effects are exaggerated, the CGI is unimpressive, and the lack of excitement is compensated with overly dramatic film music.
I'm really surprised that this movie has received such good reviews (6.6) so far. I was excited to watch this movie, as horror films rarely get such high ratings. I had high expectations that slowly but surely faded away as the movie progressed. The only reason I'm not giving it less than three stars is that I've unfortunately seen worse. Now I've wasted two hours of my life that I'll never get back. Don't do as I did, don't waste two hours on your life on this movie. It's not worth it.

This one surprises me a lot. The production overall is just superb. The story grabs the attention of the audience all the way with such a clever and reasonable plot, great editing, talented cast, the sound effects and cg effects are excellent as a horror film. It has double twists and they work well. The main characters are performed by experienced actors and actresses and they all look believable in their roles. The child actresses did good job, too.
I think this is one good thrill ride. It keeps us wanting to know more how the mother would solve this problem with the tenants and her own husband. There are ghosts popping up here and there, and yes, they are scary. The dark ritual also looks strange and frightening.
Usually I don't give 9 rating to a horror film because it doesn't give any meaningful message. However, the sad but surprisingly touching and beautiful ending of the film made me decide to give higher rating. Surely, you won't be able to guess the ending before the climax scene. It shows that the writer of the story is smart and also has a heart.

This is such a creepy film.
And to think it's actually based on true events is wild.
The film is constructed in three parts; woven together to tell a single story; from the perspectives of three different characters.
The first third of the film is told from the perspective of Ning, the mother of Ing, and wife of Kwin.
In this section, we watch them trade their family home for a condo, as they rent out their house to, people they believe are doctors.
Originally, this is Ning's idea...but, for some mysterious reason, Kwin goes along with it.
Though, Ning quickly starts to realize that something nefarious is afoot.
That it has something to do with a cult; her daughter; and that Kwin very well might be involved in it.
An intermediary section then flashes back to how they met.
Followed by a rehashing of events, from the perspective of Kwin.
Through which the mystery is slowly unraveled.
As we learn what Kwin has been up to...and what the cult's plans for young Ing really are.
The intrigue of the mystery- and fact that the whole thing is based on actual events- really manages to keep you hooked throughout.
Before things shift to the perspective of "Mother" Ratree...the matriarchal leader of the cult at work here.
Which is when all the twists and turns start to kick in...and things start to get weird.
As the film gets more intense, as the pace quickens, and things veer in a direction you never would have guessed.
It's actually a pretty bad ass little film...that totally needs a true crime documentary to compliment (as a special feature, or something).
Because I can't help but want to learn more about what sort of insanity this was actually based upon.
7 out of 10.

No pun intended - it is hard to accept certain aspects of life - one in particular, which is death. The finality - something I thought no one was thinking about when I was a kid - because no one was talking about it. But would it make sense driving ourselves crazy about something that we can not avoid? Something that is inevitable? Even stranger or harder when it is for loved ones.
How do you cope with grief, how can you move on? Or can't you? And will someone exploit that? All things that can play a role in a horror movie - and do in really good ones too. This has quite a few twists ready for you - it is about multiple generations ... and it is about more than one perspective ... why would people do what they do? Well you are about to find out ... well told and edited and acted ... I did not expect this to be as good as it actually is ...

I just love this movie it doesn't let you blink from start to end. Unpredictable full of twists and horror scenes are superb better than actual horror movies. I would highly recommend this movie if you are looking for a thriller, horror, and emotional mix-up. From my side it's 10/10 I was shocked that the movie went so well and did not disappoint you. Love this movie!!!!!
I absolutely adore this film; it keeps you engaged from beginning to end. With its unpredictability, abundant twists, and exceptional horror sequences, it surpasses typical horror movies. If you seek a blend of suspense, terror, and emotion, I wholeheartedly suggest this movie. In my opinion, it's a perfect 10/10. I was pleasantly surprised by how flawlessly the movie unfolded without any letdown. This film has my heartfelt admiration!

I found this movie on netflix and i have to say, it's one of the best films i've seen in recent years, especially when compared to the god-awful mess that usually passes for horror/thriller.
Great story, well paced, great cinematography, suspenseful, immersive.
So much so in fact that after a while i stopped noticing that i was reading subtitles (i do hope there is a dub forthcoming)
i haven't seen many thai movies before, but "home for rent" has motivated me to keep an eye on thai cinema in the future.
If you only watch one movie this year, make it "home for rent".
An absolute must-see for any fan of the genre.

One of the best horror movies I've ever seen.
Movie has an excellent story with dense atmosphere, unexpected twists and multi-layered storytelling.
I didn't expect anything at all from this movie, but I got a lot. Great acting (especially from young Thanyaphat Mayuraleela... she was amazing), beautiful musical score, sound design and directing.
I would like to recommend this movie to everyone who likes strong supernatural stories.
This is not just an ordinary supernatural horror with jumpscares (yeah... those are here too). This is maily the story of a family affected by many unfortunate event.
I Hope you'll enjoy the movie like I do.
