Not exactly known for its filmmaking competence, fetish outfit W. A. V. E. Productions has nevertheless built a name for itself outside the kink community by featuring goofy plots, low-rent special effects, and baffling directorial choices guaranteed to provoke extreme cognitive dissonance in any normal viewer. Fairly rote by the company's standards, SCHOOLGIRL SACRIFICE is almost remarkable for how mundane it is. It still has a bit of the W. A. V. E. charm, but it's largely boring.
Ghost of a plot concerns Debbie D as a schoolgirl who gets kidnapped by Satanist Dean Paul to use in a virgin sacrifice. Not exactly jump-starting the non-narrative, the film opens with an 8-minute scene of Debbie in the shower, before she pulls on a skirt and long socks and camps out on the couch reading what looks like a dictionary. Dean breaks in and tries chloroforming her, but she escapes and he ends up chasing her through the woods before bringing her back to his lair. There she is tied up, whipped, and held in a cage before being sacrificed, all while Dean rants about her death granting him immortality as a disciple of Satan.
At one point released on DVD with SORORITY SADISTS, SCHOOLGIRL SACRIFICE at least demonstrates what makes W. A. V. E.'s fetish films worth watching even if you're not into their bizarre sublimated sexuality: while SADISTS features endless, awful ad-libbing and shoddy, off-the-cuff handheld videography, it is nothing *more* than a fetish video, with no stylistic or narrative elements to keep you entertained if you're not into the content. SACRIFICE, by contrast, has an aura of perversion that's harder to shake: there's something extremely peevish about the way the camera ogles its female stars, as well as the bleak scenarios into which it drops them. Still, as W. A. V. E. outings go, SACRIFICE is pretty straightforward: no random plot digressions, no 10-minute car-washing scenes, no home desktop CGI monsters. It's just a straightforward, down-'n'-dirty 44 minutes of women getting tied up, whipped and sliced and diced by a maniacal killer. Certainly not the W. A. V. E. title to pop in to win over any converts, it's nevertheless *just* creepy enough (like most of the company's output) to at least merit a watch.
