Right, well I had never heard about this 2023 horror movie titled "The Devil's Left Hand" prior to stumbling upon it by random chance here in 2023. And with it being a horror movie that I had not heard about nor seen, then of course I opted to sit down and watch it, as I love horror movies.
And I figured that since the movie had scored a 6.3 rating here on IMDb, when I sat down to watch it, then it seemed like I would be in for a fair enough horror movie experience. Little did I know just how wrong I would be proven.
Writer and director Harley Wallen delivered a rather lukewarm horror movie here. The script, storyline and narrative in the movie felt amazingly random, generally lacking a red thread throughout the course of the narrative. It felt and looked like writer and director Harley Wallen was just making things up on the fly as the filming of the movie progressed.
The acting performances in "The Devil's Left Hand" were fair enough. Nothing outstanding or great, though. But the actors and actresses on the cast list did well enough, given the limitations imposed upon them by the script - or lack thereof.
Something that did work in favor of "The Devil's Left Hand" was the special effects. Not that it was mind-blowing special effects that will knock your feet away from under you or anything. But taking into consideration the level of production and the amateurish feel that the movie had to it, then the special effects were actually fair.
For a horror movie then "The Devil's Left Hand" was a swing and a miss. Nothing scary about it throughout the course of the 98 minutes that the movie ran for. Again, things were just too random and inconsistent to have a proper build up for a scare effect.
My rating of "The Devil's Left Hand" lands on a three out of ten stars.
