First, this is a high quality production and the scenery is beaitiful. Even the actors are very good. The problem is with the story. The writers failed miserably in adapting the book.
After awhile, you begin to realize that they are rushing through the story line way too fast, missing details and cutting much of the essential sub plots and story lines that would have made this a truly great series. Six episodes was not enough to do justice to the book.
The big picture of who the Weerters are and the various factions within in them is missing. The story looses context. Yet, for all those failings, it is still an interesting story about a young man who has inherited the biggest fortune in history and the prophecy future he is asked to change.
The way the series ends leads to the possibilty that they might make a second series. I hope they do and use that opportunity to tell the part of the story from the book they left out. Hopefully they will use better writers. Anyway, buy the book this is based on and get the whole story. It's worth it.

Although I didn't read the novel, you realize that there is a great story idea behind that TV show. But the execution in the Mini-series is just sad and shallow. Although they had more time over these 6 episodes than in just one movie, they rushed through the story and moved away from the origianl. The screenplay writing lacks coherence, leaving viewers bewildered rather than intrigued. Not better than a mediocre Dan Brown movie (and those were better in terms of actors and budget). German productions have the potential to be great, but this was not a good example! I actually stopped after the second episode.
I've not seen such a good German movie for a long time- very good actors, especially the main character is really great but also all the other characters are brilliant. I've not seen such a good German movie for a very long time, Realistic dialogues and not overacted... Was really fun watching! Even in comparison to American TVs series, it's still very good. Everything looks very expensive and more like a movie. No cheap filters, as in some Netflix productions. No cheap visual computer effects... even the story is really interesting until the end. Never boring, sometimes, surprising. I can definitely recommend this series.

I usuannly dont care much if series are not quite like the books, as of course written storytelling is different. But this is a total miss, one of the best books ever, and could have been a fantastic series. Already in the first ep it rushes over significant and memorable scenes.
The acting is also not superb, and some parts are dubbed, some not, so some post production decisions that really pull the series down. Didnt make it through all episodes, we gave up after 2.
I disliked the way the main character was portrayed, and not impressed by the casted actor, and the series is too short to show how he changed from a superficial immature moneywaster who didnt think once extra but went on impulsing his way through, and becoming a thoughtful leader who listened and learned.
