There was almost a movie here, but it's failed, probably due to it being pretty much made for nothing and having some of the worst actors possible to play the roles.
The opening of the film has the worst of the worst actors, playing two couples who have a boring storyline of wanting to buy a gas station in Forrest Green, the town that used to be Crystal Lake. The whole intro of this scene is too long, boring, yet does tie into the finale of the film, only it's rammed in, and pointless. It should be cut completely, as it serves no satisfying pay-off, or even an "oh, I see" moment. It's pointless. Cut it out of the film and get on with it, so that the opening credits of the film don't feel like they pop up 30 mins into the movie.
Not only was the acting terrible and plot pointless, but the editing was horrible, too. Cutting camera angles to each "actors" lines in the car had audio shifts that were too distracting from taking this as a serios movie.
Once that garbage intro is done, it cuts to 20 years later and a bunch of people are going to go camping hoping to meet up with a podcast group that's going to exume Jason's body and investigate the myths and legends. They meet. They camp. They meet other pointless characters, Jason arrives, does his shtick, and its a typical run, Forrest, run situation.
The acting gets a little better, but still, pretty bad. The kills are stupid and look rushed, probably due to no budget, but no creativity either. Scenes lighting is God awful in places where it's splicing scenes shot at night, to scenes shot in daylight they're trying to filter to look like it's night.
Jason himself looks really amatuer. Even switching between 3 different masks. You don't feel for any of the characters and just don't care if they live or die.
Overall, I wasn't bored and felt like turning it off, but it was more like being entertained by how bad it is. I'll certainly never watch it again, tho, and I don't recommend it one bit. There's no cool kills or anything interesting to suggest it's cannon worthy in some way. You'll never kick yourself for not seeing it.
It's a film that needs a lot of scenes cut out and a better editing job to make it reach a half decent film state... oh, and better actors.
