From the times when I went to school I remember we had for our lektira (obligatory book reading) to read Segrt Hlapic. It was very popular book and even cartoon was made based on that story.
In this film, I was impressed with cinematography and camera moves altogether. It still impresses me how much technology in the film making has improved over the years.
Acting is good especially from the young actors, older ones we know well from the previous years and film they acted in. It is a good opportunity to see creme de la creme of the Croatian acting.
Plot is in the line with the book wit some modern upgrades. It is to be expected.
If you want to see a good Croatian family film this one is for you, they do not produce many films in Croatia these days, lack of money.

This is definitely not a good screening of a great book. The two main characters are simply as bad as actors, impersonal and monotonous. It is a pity that the best actors and legends were given only insignificant supporting roles. Some scenes look ridiculous on screen, and that wasn't their goal, they were just poorly shot. However, I will not give the film too low rating because it is a film for children who may not see some of these things.
