The Honeymoon, starring Minnie Dlamini, Tumi Morake, and Kajal Bagwandeen, falls far short of expectations, leaving audiences with an overwhelming sense of disappointment and frustration. In this review, we will delve into the various aspects of the film that contribute to its lackluster nature.
One of the most glaring issues with The Honeymoon lies in the performances of the cast members, particularly the three lead actresses. Regrettably, their acting skills are not up to par, delivering performances that can only be described as extremely horrible. It is difficult to comprehend how the director, producers, or anyone involved in the background team allowed such lackluster acting to make its way into the final product.
The plot and story line of The Honeymoon suffer from being excessively predictable right from the start. There are no surprises or twists to engage the audience, rendering the viewing experience monotonous and unexciting. The movie fails to capture the essence of humor, and its attempts at comedic moments fall flat. Ultimately, it leaves viewers feeling like they have wasted their time.
Adding to the disappointment is the film's unclear target audience. It is evident that The Honeymoon does not cater to the South African demographic, and its scenes feel like mere reenactments of generic romantic comedy movies from the past. The lack of originality and innovation further contribute to the film's downfall.
One cannot help but feel disheartened by the fact that South Africa boasts exceptional actors, actresses, and directors, yet a movie like The Honeymoon is being presented as a representation of our local film industry to the world. It is an unfortunate misrepresentation that fails to showcase the true talent and creativity that South Africa has to offer.
In conclusion, The Honeymoon is an absolute rubbish movie that should be avoided at all costs. It lacks the necessary elements to captivate and entertain its audience, leaving viewers empty and unsatisfied. As a representative of South Africa's film industry, it fails to meet the mark and ultimately disappoints.

This movie is not worthy of being called a movie. It's the worst thing I've ever suffered. It's unbelievably unfunny, boring, unfunny, amateur, unfunny, slow and oh, did I mention unfunny!! The acting is just awful, the plot is disjointed and there is absolutely no continuity!! It makes me wonder about how the producers and directors didn't see how bad it actually is. Maybe the crew were working on a totally different movie!! All in all its just rubbish. A beautiful setting in Zanzibar and Kwa Zulu Natal gives this movie one star but the best thing about this movie....the end credits!! Rubbish!?

The love and unity amongst the besties is beyond sisterhood despite everything they have been through they were able to still put their friendship first, the ladies are always there for each other and besides this movie being a romcom i really admired their friendship and learned a lot from them.
The holiday to Zanzibar didn't turn out as well as expected but the ladies were able to pull through for each other and were able to enjoy despite everything that happened, this movie was interesting and my favourite was Noks, she was hilarious and Is a fast thinker, I would really watch this again..

Healing through sisterhood
Doubly boubly hilarious, wonderfully wholesome with superb writing & performances.
Kajal gave such a stunning performance. We see so many sides to her here including one that is heart-tuggingly relatable & galvanizing to the story core.
This is laughter beyond compare from many movies I've watched this year even the ones claiming to be comedies. The jokes are so fresh, so bold & so dastardly Dashing, you're never going to see it coming. Tumi Morake is a whole other planet of funny here.
Minnie Dlamini makes a smashing return to acting as the hearted cored to this wonderful trio. It is Mesmerizing.
Asanti Sane! KARIBU!

The Honeymoon is a 21st-century adventure comedy film that takes you on a journey of three best friends as they explore their successes, and downfalls throughout the film. Despite some dragging moments, the hilarious jokes kept me chuckling and jumping around my seat, especially Tumi's "Noks" character. Tumi is a natural and delivers her lines effortlessly that you could barely tell whether she even had a script.
The personal and friendship issues the ladies face are relatable, and the key lesson is that some people come into your life only to use you. The movie does an excellent job of portraying how the girls navigate their struggles and come out stronger. The character development is impressive, and it kept us invested in their journey.
Location plays a significant role in the film's success, with the beautiful tropical beaches and climate of Zanzibar being the key highlight. The stunning scenery perfectly complements the themes of adventure and self-discovery. The well-curated afrobeat soundtrack also adds to the Pan-African aspect of the film. The music elevates the viewing experience and immerses the audience in the vibrant culture of the location.
Overall, The Honeymoon is an enjoyable film that showcases the beauty of Africa while delivering a relatable and engaging story. The film highlights the importance of true friendship and the struggles that come with it. If you're looking for a feel-good movie with relatable characters and beautiful scenery, The Honeymoon is the perfect choice.

I had so much fun watching this movie, it teaches us how important friendships are and how Sisterhood is not only a word. I like how they go through so much but the common ground is how they ride for each other. The support and comfort they have for each other is out of this world. Showing us how you should be there for your squad no matter what time it is. They understand each other and jump on an opportunity to make others feel that they are not alone at all. The love, respect and trust they have is so special. Even as a human being in general you learn a lot from this movie, I enjoyed it...

Am a huge supporter of all things local including local books and movies. It excites me seeing local spots and local celebs on the big screen. Finally got around to watching #TheHoneymoon and boy was I not disappointed.
Written and directored by Bianca Isaac this movie is set in Durban and Zanzibar. The movie starts with the night before Wedding function of Katya and Vivaan but every soon falls apart with Vivaan needing space and going to Italy.
Katya's besties stick by her side and try their best to support their friend.
They turn the honeymoon into a besties getaway to the gorgeous island of Zanzibar. Each friend is fighting their own demons and actually needs this girl time away.
Gorgeous setting as each girl works on their own dramas but add a few hunks to the mix coupled with a party a day and some cops and robbers moves. The girls find themselves back in Durban working out their lives and poof out of no where Vivaan arrives all lovey dovey but something is not right. The girls left Zanzibar not on the greatest of terms but reunite on Katya's wedding day !
Loved this movie so many twists and turns ,funny moments and some home truths on relationships.
Grab your girls and go watch this !

I really enjoyed watching honeymoonmovie. Watched it with my besties at Mall of Africa . What I like the most about this movie is that it tells a story of three besties who jet off on an unexpected island holiday after one of them got dumped by her fiancé the night before her wedding . Crazy right !! Oh yeah I almost cried on that scene. I'm just happy that the island became their playground as they live their best lives away from their reality and responsibilities. They had each other even though they were struggling with their own demons .. they still managed to support Kat . Noks was my favourite character and made me enjoy the movie more .

A feel good chick flick. Love the themes of friendship and the ultimate girl gang. The chemistry between the women onscreen is so authentic and the shots of Durban are beautiful. The different cultural elements are also a bonus. If you're looking for something to watch this weekend, this is a definite go to. You will not regret it. Would also love to see these ladies on screen a bit more. Tons of comedy, love, tears and a little action. A great combo for a Saturday night in. I personally love chick flicks and watch them regularly. This checked all my boxes and I can see myself watching it again.

"The Honeymoon" is a delightful and heartwarming film that takes viewers on a journey of self-discovery, resilience, and the power of friendship. Directed by a talented storyteller, it beautifully captures the essence of personal growth in the face of unexpected challenges.
The story revolves around a woman named Kat, whose life takes an unexpected turn when her fiancé abruptly calls off their wedding. Devastated and unsure of how to move forward, Kat decides to embark on her honeymoon vacation with her closest friends, rather than letting her shattered dreams define her.
The movie beautifully portrays the emotional roller coaster that Kat experiences as she navigates the stages of grief, heartache, and ultimately, healing. Lead actress Kajal Bagwandeen delivers a remarkable performance, portraying Kat's vulnerability, strength, and gradual transformation with a nuanced touch that resonates with the audience.
One of the film's greatest strengths lies in its exploration of the power of friendship. Kat's best friends, portrayed by talented actresses Tumi Morake and Minnie Dlamini, offer unwavering support, laughter, and a shoulder to lean on during this tumultuous period. Their camaraderie is palpable on-screen, creating authentic and relatable moments that tug at the heartstrings.
The picturesque locations chosen for the honeymoon vacation add to the film's allure. From stunning beaches to vibrant cityscapes, the cinematography beautifully captures the essence of each destination, transporting viewers into the world of relaxation and adventure. The visual aesthetics contribute to the overall escapism and make for a visually captivating experience.
The script, although predictable at times, is elevated by its well-rounded and endearing characters. The dialogue strikes a delicate balance between humor and emotional depth, resulting in several poignant and genuinely funny moments. The film's soundtrack complements the story seamlessly, enhancing the emotional resonance of each scene.
However, "The Honeymoon" does have a few minor flaws. The pacing in the middle act feels slightly sluggish, with some scenes meandering longer than necessary. Additionally, certain character arcs, particularly those of Kat's friends, could have been further explored to create a stronger emotional connection.
Overall, "The Honeymoon" is an uplifting and feel-good film that celebrates resilience, friendship, and self-discovery. It reminds us that even when life doesn't go as planned, we can find strength within ourselves and the support of loved ones to overcome obstacles. With its relatable characters, stunning visuals, and heartwarming story, this movie is a delightful choice for those seeking an enjoyable and inspiring cinematic experience.

When they said adventure, comedy chick-flick, I wasn't sure. But this movie is exactly what it means.
Forget about getting a man back, get your friends back. This FRIENDSHIP was the love story we needed. Bianca Isaac script&direction is absolutely beautiful - how did you do it sister. Kajal and Tumi are show stoppers - I believed they were best friends. Minnie was great to see with Nay Maps.
The Production value is beyond excellent, the music is a vibe from beginning to end. These girls take over Durban, then Zanzibar. There's fight clubs, chase sequences, bikinis, parties, laughter and tears through the whole film.
Most importantly I saw myself here - I think I'm Noks - but I pay my bills. I have a friend like Kat. Every year we have to deal with the new guy and the love and the wedding dreams. And then next year, same same. So please ladies - don't marry anyone.
Loved this movie - Congratulations team. And thank you for taking me back to the movies.

Oh it's so real, the chemistry between the ladies as different as they are but are able to hold each other down, the music, the quality of the movie and how relatable is the storyline it's giving typical chick flicks and i love that there's a happy ending. I related to Noks a lot because she is all about fun and making sure the environment is friendly for everyone, yes she's a bit irresponsible but man we all need too loosen up a bit because life forces us to be serious anyway so why not be a Noks and create some bit of memories, a litte getway with the ones we love and breathe new and fresh air away from the noise and everything distracting us. I loved how Kat's brother was her backbone and protector in even though missy was just too naïve to be saved haha. This movie teaches one about the importance of friendships, familyhood and living in the moment I really enjoyed it.

Immediately when I saw those three smart ladies, I just knew this movie was going to be lit. The way they had each other's back was so amazing. It really showed me the meaning of true friendship / besties. All characters played their role very well especial when Kat chose herself over her man who didn't love her at all.
I just hope everyone will learn a thing or two about how important it is to support each other. This is a must watch movie and hope to see more of South African comedy movie like this one.
I enjoyed how funny Noks was throughout.
Bianca is really the best writer and director.

The honeymoon movie is a movie that showcases the beauty if friendship.
It shows us how 3 friends who live separate life's are bounded by love in their friendship, how despite facing pain in their lives they chose to go on a trip and unwind. The trip brought out different characters in them which they were trying so hard to suppress,it made them bold to be able to make decisions that favor them as much as others all this while making beautiful ,crazy and fun memories.
The trip proved that they need each other more than they know as well as that they should be honest towards one another above everything else.

I didn't expect much from it being a local film. But was immediately drawn in when I saw the 3 leads, in trouble I assumed. They looked naughty, sorry and most importantly distant from each other. The music then takes you on another level journey. Following these 3 women, felt like I was peaking into a little of myself. I remember wanting to get married so badly that I would have married a tree trunk:( - I was lucky enough to have my true love instead of a Vivaan (OMG imagine). I did try a few times to seduce my husband and that was unsuccessful just like Lu. But now we do understand each more physically and emotionally and finally I have a friend like Noks. We cannot even go to dinner, we need a picture for the gram. Morning coffee, we need a picture. Everything that happens, we need a picture for social media. But most importantly it's about friendship and made me realize i miss my friends. I have been married for so long with kids and i forgot how important friends are
Love the film, the story, the music the actors (Kat, Noks and Vivaan are my fav), and the beautiful locations. Zanzibar here I come
Highly recommend this film.

From the very beginning, I was drawn into the thrilling narrative that kept me on the edge of my seat. The twists and turns of the plot had me guessing and eagerly anticipating each new development. The love shared between the characters, especially the strong sisterly bond, was truly heartwarming to witness. Their unwavering support for each other in times of adversity and their shared triumphs created a sense of unity and empowerment that was inspiring to see.
I had an incredible time experiencing the captivating storyline, the deep bond of sisterhood, and the exciting adventures that unfolded during the watch party.

What an epic national debut by director Bianca Isaacs! I thoroughly enjoyed "The Honeymoon" with my girlfriends; we even went as far as jokingly likening our throupleship to Katya, Noks and Luh's! Some parts felt cathartic and relatable because arguments and disagreements are byproducts of any relationship / friendship and solving these hiccups tend to make the friendships more fruitful! For the most part, the shots of Zanzibar's picturesque views were beautifully captured, which triggered my wanderlust! This just may be SA's first solid* chick flick and if chick flicks are your cup of tea, The Honeymoon is worth checking out ;) !
The Honeymoon is one of those movies that makes you want to hop on the next flight to your favourite destination to enjoy yourself. We live in a fast paced society where we are all trying to achieve something, others want to be the best in their marriages, careers or trying to mend fragments to their broken personal lives. In one way or the other we are all connected - this movie is a great reminder that we are all connected and it also serves a great reminder that it's possible to make good out of every situation- as Noks, Kat and Lu used the honeymoon experience to rediscover themselves. This was not just a movie but it felt like a travel experience. Cinematography was on point - the cast was perfect but I must say Tumi Morake casting was cherry on top as Noks- it was easy to relate with the especially as we live amongst influencers and a culture that promotes numbers, likes and engagement. Kat who was portrayed by Bagwandeen brought a laid back and emotional feel to the cast and Minnie Dlamini (as Luh) brought amazing balance to the cast members.

I enjoyed this movie. It's an easy to follow slapstick comedy which contains drama, romance and a whole lot of action. It's a movie to watch when you want to unwind, relax and have just have a good laugh😂
The production is also out of this world and the cinematography was outstanding. The beautiful shots of Zanzibar would make you feel like you are on an adventure with the three best friends. The acting chops from the main leads were so convincing, it made me feel like I was their 4th bestie
We truly need more movies like these as South Africans - not everything is about crime, poverty and violence
Give this movie a try...you won't regret it.

I really wanted this movie to be better than it actually was and my 8 rating is generous. The good: Characters are great, and fun and well acted. Production value is as good as any movie. The script and story is good. The bad: The pace is all wrong. The movie is too drawn out and at times feels tedious. Some of the music choices are annoying and there are too many musical interludes that are unnecessary. Verdict: Its a decent movie that could have been much better. I think if the movie was cut down to 90 mins it would have been much more entertaining. The drawn out scenes made the movie less funny. Thoughts: I would have loved to see a 90 minutes version of this movie. It would have been great! Also, please make more movies like this, it's very welcome. Finally, Please Please Please make a Hangover like sequel to this movie. It would be great fun to see these characters again in that kind of movie!

A few minutes into the movie, I felt myself drawn to the authenticity of the characters. Nina Simone's character, Leslie eased us into the emotional roller coaster with her catchy phrase, "don't be kak," which has now taken on a life of it's own. On that note... shout out to Bianca Isaac, Gregory Mthanji and the entire cast and crew of The Honeymoon. You left your hearts on the set of The Honeymoon, and I can't wait for the world to lap up your magic. The synergy shared by the three leading ladies on and off-screen is also worth noting. The scenic island becomes their playground as they live their best lives away from their responsibilities. The ladies try to hold Kat up while battling their own demons, and it seems mayhem is looming in the background. Lies and secrets find their way to the fore, threatening their friendship.
