Ram Gopal Varma is back with the third installment of Sarkar. Amitabh Bachchan reprises his role with trademark intensity and fiery anger. Sarkar 3 also features an amazing cast including Manoj Bajpayee, Ronit Roy, Amit Sadh, Yami Gautam, Jackie Shroff and Rohini Hattangadi among others.
Talented actor Amit Sadh was tapped to play the very intense role of Subhash Nagre’s grandson Shivaji and from what we have seen so far in the trailers he has totally immersed himself into the role and the world of Sarkar.
I had an absolutely amazing conversation with Amit about his role in the epic drama Sarkar 3. It was even more special because he opened up about his thoughts and dreams about acting. Check out what he had to say!

In 2009 when Mumbai Film Festival wanted to screen Lars von Trier’s Antichrist, the world sales agent advised the festival to get an Noc from Palador Pictures, an Indian “world cinema” company. Palador had pre-booked its Indian rights that it never exercised for obvious reasons.
In 2008, the festival director had to spend hours convincing the Indian distributor of 4 Months, 3 Weeks, 2 days (the 2007 Palme d’Or winning Romanian film) to allow the film to screen at the Mumbai Film Festival. The distributor, a company called Baba Digital, thought that the film would lose its commercial viability if it was screened at the festival.
Such was the excitement among Indian companies around world cinema from 2007-2009. There were all kinds of “world cinema” distribution companies emerging out of nowhere. There was Palador Pictures claiming to have a library of one thousand films, the best of world cinema. Utv World Movies,...

Shoojit Sircar's next film Piku which already has a formidable cast of the Big B, Irrfan and Deepika Padukone just got more interesting. Piku now stars Bangla heart-throb Jisshu Sengupta in the romantic lead opposite Deepika. Jisshu who made his Bollywood debut opposite Ileana D'Cruz in a guest appearance in Anurag Basu's Barfi would next be seen in Hindi in Pradeep Sarkar's Mardaani where Jisshu plays Rani's husband. Apparently Shoojit was keen to cast Jisshu opposite Deepika as the role suited him to perfection. However the fact that Jisshu was being launched as a leading man by Yashraj put a question mark on Jisshu's presence in Piku. Jisshu showed Shoojit his Bengali film Jatishwar. Only then was Shoojit convinced. Says Jisshu, "It's a big break with a director I really admire and with actors I really love. It has been my dream to work with Mr.

Everything was set for the release of Queen this Friday, and lead actress Kangana Ranaut recently attended a Q&A session to answer some questions about the film and more!
The expectation for the film has been growing since the trailer was released few weeks ago. The reception has been very positive, and stars such as Amitabh Bachchan have voiced their opinion. When asked about it, the actress was astonished. “I am getting amazing reactions. Mr. Amitabh Bachchan has apparently tweeted about the trailer. I also met him at a party recently. Mr. Bachchan, Mr. Aamir Khan and Mr. Salman Khan all told me that they are eagerly waiting to watch the film. What else can one ask for?” She feels flattered by all these reactions, as she also added, “It’s very important to me because I have felt accepted for the first time. I have never received such...

Queen tells the story of Rani, a girl left at the altar. Taking her life and destiny in her own hands, she decides, impromptu, to go for her meticulously pre-planned honeymoon… by herself. Check out some highlights of Kangana Ranaut on all things Queen
How was your experience attending the Burberry show at the recently concluded London Fashion Week?
It was really beautiful. London was great as it didn’t rain that day. We were expecting it to rain and it didn’t.

Irrfan Khan, who turned 47 on January 7, is all set to conquer new peaks in 2014. This year, the incredibly adventurous actor is all set to start new films with super- directors Nishikant Kamath, Vishal Bhardwaj, Sujoy Ghosh and Shoojit Sircar. Most exciting of all is the Shoojit Sircar's film which brings Irrfan face-to-face with Big B for the first time. Says Irrfan "Can you believe it, during all these years in the film industry, I've never worked with Bachchan Saab or with Naseer Saab! Lekin script bhi toh honi chahiye! The screenplay has to justify our coming together. Finally I am working with Bachchan Saab in Shoojit's film." At the moment Irrfan is shooting for a film with the Mumbai Meri Jaan director Nishikant Kamath. Says Irrfan cryptically, "It's a project which we've been mulling over for some time. It's a political thriller about corruption and moral accountability, very topical very relevant to our times.

The late Joy Mukherjee jostles with 20-something year old debutant Akash Chopra in the theatres this week. It looks like a chaos of releases again.
It's the pre-Eid week when Ramzan is at its peak and a sizeable chunk of the audience stays away from movie theatres. Yet we have a very strange spectrum of releases lined up for Friday.
Joy Mukherjee who passed away last year resurfaces in Love In Bombay, a 42-year old project directed by Joy (his second directorial effort after Humsaaya) that has the distinction of every actor and technician being dead except the lovely Waheeda Rehman...God grant her a long life.
The late prolific filmmaker Ramanand Sagar's grandson Akash Chopra makes his screen debut in the wedding comedy Rabba Main Kya Karoon directed by Amrit Sagar who gave us that excellent war film 1971. The film has an interesting lineup of comic actors Arshad Warsi,...

To celebrate the Indian film industry's centenary year, here are 10 essential movies – from a silent film about the life of the Buddha to a violent gangster epic
Prem Sanyas/The Light of Asia (Franz Osten, 1925)

Among the few silent films that remain are three Indo-German co-productions that predate the arrival of the German technicians and directors who worked in the Bombay Talkies studio in the 1930s. The Light of Asia was shot in India but edited and processed in Germany and intertitled in English. The script was adapted from Sir Edwin Arnold's epic poem The Light of Asia (1861) while the opening credits proclaim it was "Shown by Royal Command at Windsor Castle, April 27 1926" and that it benefited greatly from help offered by the Maharaja of Jaipur. The film shows westerners touring India (Mumbai, Delhi, Varanasi) who come to Bodh Gaya, the site of Gautam Buddha's Enlightenment.

The green carpet became a runway for the sexiest stars in Bollywood to strut their stuff into the 14th annual Iifa (International Indian Film) awards ceremony.
Headed by the badshah of Bollywood, “King Khan”, the procession of fashionistas attracted a rambunctious crowd.
Shah Rukh Khan looked dashing as ever, wearing a crisp black suit and a smile that made every female in the vicinity weak at the knees – including Mani’s mum!
Heads turned as Mr. Khan walked down the carpet, not just on account of his slick sense of style, but also because of the smart black leather sling wrapped around his right arm. Only the King of Bollywood could turn an injury into a fashion statement! Insert Picture 1 – Shahrukh Khan
What he didn’t quite manage to pull off however, was the unkempt beard and long hair, which made him resemble an extra from Pirates of the Caribbean.
