Mechamato movie was promised to us fans, in 2020 but due to Covid-19, the movie was delayed twice. Question is, did this movie deliver after the grueling two (2) years wait? The answer is: Absolutely yes.
Monsta had a story to tell and they chose to tell it in the most stunning setting possible. Set in a fictional town of Kota Hilir, they managed not to just captivate the audience with beautiful sceneries and rich culture but also the story and amazing cast.
While the plot can be simple (its an animation for mainly kids) but the brilliant cast of characters definitely heighten the overall experience. We had characters like Amato and MechaBot whom is probably the best duo tp be put in Malaysian cinema, we saw Maskama who made all the scene he's in infinitely better with the amazing action sequences and mind blowing twist with other diverse and fascinating side characters plus a super ruthless villain Grakakus who I'm sure will give you chills.
The script was written well enough to had everyone laughing when they need to and to have everyone at the edge of their seats any given time. The unique modern and tradition blend was refreshing to see and the vibrance can be felt all the time.. Such a good time in the cinema.
No movie is perfect. I feel like the 2 hours runtime can feel a bit long. There is time where the movie felt draggy and long but once the third act starts, all of that problem is gone. The villain was yes, very scary but there's this one time I felt like he was, I'd say a bit soft. He could've done more. This, was all nitpicks by the way. It definitely still is an amazing movie.
All in all, Mechamato movie was such a joyride from start to finish. The action, humor, heart that this movie had was one of a kind. I'm so proud of to be a fan of this since the beggining. I'm definitely waiting for Monsta's next big project.
