Yes, we are talking about NBC’s Cheers, which ran successfully from 1982 until its series finale in 1993. Critically acclaimed and loved by many during its original run, the series is one of the best sitcoms.

Cheers is hilarious, intelligent, fast-paced, heartfelt, peopled by unforgettable characters, and consistently good. If you enjoy stand-up comedy, you will love this guy who has been doing this for years and who comes from Australia, after coming from the U.K. and finally, with an American nationality, offers us a variety of international themes, that for us, are very attractive.

He starts his special show with something that lots of us were talking about and which for all of us silently felt: we were fed up with the facemask. Jim Jefferies is back on Netflix next month with his fifth stand-up special for the streamer, “High N’ Dry.” The special premieres globally on Netflix on February 14, just in time for Valentine’s Day. The stand-up follows previous specials “Jim Jefferies: Bare” (2014), “Jim Jefferies: Freedumb” (2016), “Jim Jefferies: This Is Me Now” (2018) and “Jim Jefferies: Intolerant” (2020). Scott Zabielski directed the new special.

“High N’ Dry” is actually Jefferies’ tenth TV standup special all together, which goes back to “Contraband” in 2008. According to the logline, “In the special, newly married and loving life with his wife and kids, Jefferies sounds off on the laziness of koala bears, the injustices of male pattern baldness and the reason why he’ll never drink again.”

Jefferies, Tim Sarkes, Alex Murray, Brian Volk-Weiss and Cisco Henson are executive producers of “High N’ Dry.”

Jefferies is currently on the road for his 2023 “Give’em What They Want Tour.

Exclusive: HBO Max has put in development a single-camera half-hour comedy based on the life of comedian Aida Rodriguez, starring and co-written by Rodriguez, and executive produced by Tiffany Haddish and her She Ready Productions.

Co-written by Rodriguez, Chris Case (Legit) and Nastaran Dibai (Resident Alien), the project examines the struggle of an Afro-Latina comedian (Rodriguez) who is trying to kick start a career while raising two very different teenagers on her own over multiple time zones. It is an uplifting story of survival and triumph in the face of a darkly funny Miami ghetto upbringing, where she learned skills that allowed her to thrive and survive.

Rodriguez, Case and Dibai executive produce with Haddish via She Ready Productions and Evan Silverberg and Daniel Rappaport for Management 360.

Rodriguez was one of six comedians whose half-hour stand-up specials were featured by Haddish in Tiffany Haddish Presents: They Ready for Netflix.

NBC has picked up a pair of comedy pilots for the 2020-2021 season.

The first is the multi-cam “Jefferies,” which will star Australian comedian Jim Jefferies as a fictionalized version of himself. Jefferies will also write and executive produce along with Suzanne Martin. Sean Hayes and Todd Milliner of Hazy Mills will also executive produce along with Tim Sarkes and Alex Murray of Brillstein Entertainment Partners. Universal Television, where Hazy Mills and Martin are under overall deals, will produce.

Jefferies most recently hosted “The Jim Jefferies Show” for Comedy Central, which ran for three seasons. He also co-created and starred in the FX single-camera comedy series “Legit,” in which he also played a version of himself. His most recent comedy special, “Jim Jefferies: This Is Me Now,” was released on Netflix in 2018.

Jefferies is repped by UTA and Brillstein. Martin is repped by Hansen Jacobson.

Comedy Central has canceled weekly series “The Jim Jefferies Show” after three seasons, TheWrap has learned exclusively.

“‘The Jim Jefferies Show’ will air its final episode on Nov. 19, concluding a brilliant three-year run on Comedy Central,” the cable channel told TheWrap in a statement. “We thank Jim and the team for bringing us a unique and international approach to culture and politics. We look forward to developing more projects with Jim in the future.”

Reps for Jefferies did not immediately respond to TheWrap’s request for comment from the Australian comic.

Jim Jefferies isn’t actually the kind of comedian that you’d expect to get a weekly “news” show, even on Comedy Central. Now, before you start arguing, there are a few reasons for that.

One, he’s not the sort of comedian who is going to parlay his stand-up into a wholesome sitcom that takes over the cultural awareness and is loved by everyone, like Seinfeld or Roseanne. For one thing, “Jefferies” is a goofy title, and “Jim” can’t stand alone, but more importantly, he’s the sort of comedian who makes a show like Legit, which was hilarious, and naturally didn’t last that long.

Not to put too fine a point on it, but we’re not exactly mainstreaming some shit here. Jim Jefferies is a lot of things, but “for everyone” ain’t one of them.

Beloved Star Wars actress and writer Carrie Fisher has passed away at the age of 60.

Fisher has been entertaining since she first appeared on one of her mother, Debbie Reynolds', television specials in 1969 at the age of 12.

Fisher experienced a medical emergency on Friday on a flight from London to L.A. After landing, she was taken to a Los Angeles hospital where she remained in critical condition. 

She passed away on Tuesday morning. 

Fisher is best known for her iconic performance as the beautiful and feisty Princess Leia in the original Star Wars trilogy: Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back, and Return of the Jedi.

She also appeared in Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens which was released in 2015 as well as Star Wars Episode VIII which will be released in theaters at the end of 2017.

Supernatural

Despite passing on "Supernatural" spin-off series "Bloodlines," The CW president Mark Pedowitz still has hopes for a potential spin-off of the long-running show with discussions about the matter to take place in June and July.

Pedowitz told reporters today: "We believe that there's a real brand in Supernatural. We had six really good pilots this year. We felt that Supernatural [spinoff Bloodlines] just didn't quite get there, though we do know that people would come to it based on what we saw that night. I've already spoken to the creator and the studio. They know that we want to develop once more next season, a Supernatural spinoff.

Fxx and FX are joining in the fun with announcing shows that will not be returning for 2014-2015. Fxx has confirmed Legit is over and will not be around for a third season. The comedy first aired on FX, but was switched to Fxx for a second season. While that was a sign that the show was not a success story, fans still held out for hope about a third possible season. Even the series star, DJ Qualls said that he hoped for a third season back in February. However, he has shown that he was just happy with what the show had given him.

FX is also axed their animated series Chozen. It premiered in January of this year and lacked the draw that they hoped for. Fox and their related channels have become a prime spot of adult, animated shows-but Chozen‘s serious story with attempt at humor fell flat.

Is there any news on Les Revenants season 2?

News has been scarce on the Les Revenants front of late - that's The Returned for any folk less fancy than DS user Adamsk.

But here's what we do know - Channel 4 have acquired the rights to a second series and originally planned to air new episodes in late 2014. However, production on the next run of episodes has now been postponed - until September at least - meaning that The Returned won't return to its French home Canal+ until 2015.

Fxx has pulled the plug on Legit after two seasons. Tonight's episode will also serve as the comedy's series finale.

Legit revolves around a fictional version of Australian stand-up comic Jim Jeffries who's made it big on the comedy circuit in the Us and now wants to grow up. His friends and Venice, CA roommates are his divorced and alcoholic best friend, Steve (Dan Bakkedahl), and Steve's brother, Billy (DJ Qualls) who suffers from muscular dystrophy. Episodes are based on Jeffries' stand-up routines.

The series has struggled in the ratings, particularly once it moved from FX to Fxx. As a result, the cable channel has decided they don't want a third season.

Animated comedy Chozen has been canceled by FX after one season, and comedy Legit on the young-adult skewing Fxx will not be returning for a third, it was announced Wednesday.

The cancellations aren’t surprising as both shows had been struggling in the ratings. Chozen was the first original series ordered for Fxx and centered on a white, gay rapper just out of prison, voiced by Bobby Moynihan. The series had its finale March 31.
