For today’s Gen-z kids, The Big Bang Theory and Friends might be some of the shows that they feel are iconic. But long back in the 80s, aired a show that changed the definition of sitcoms and grew a massive fan base across the US.
Yes, we are talking about NBC’s Cheers, which ran successfully from 1982 until its series finale in 1993. Critically acclaimed and loved by many during its original run, the series is one of the best sitcoms.
Cheers is hilarious, intelligent, fast-paced, heartfelt, peopled by unforgettable characters, and consistently good. The story revolves around a Boston bar, owned by Sam Malone (Ted Danson), a former relief pitcher, and has several other main characters, who either work in the bar or visit it regularly.
Decades later after its final run, let’s take a look at where some of the Cheers‘ major cast members are now!

In 2012, when "Star Wars" fans heard that, at long last, we were getting a new film trilogy, many of us were over the moon of Endor. Whatever you thought about what we actually got isn't the point here. Sure, some people were worried about being burned, like they thought they were when the prequels came out, but for lots of us, the prospect of more "Star Wars" was a true gift.
That wasn't necessarily the case for one of the actors in the franchise. While the rest of us were pulling our "Star Wars" toys out of storage (if they'd ever been put away to begin with), the late Carrie Fisher, who played the iconic role of Princess Leia Organa (later General Organa), was heading to set for her first day of shooting. As it turns out, that day wasn't easy for her. In fact, she called it the "worst" of her career,...

Jim Jefferies: High n’ Dry is a comedy special starring the always great Jim Jeffreries.
If you enjoy stand-up comedy, you will love this guy who has been doing this for years and who comes from Australia, after coming from the U.K. and finally, with an American nationality, offers us a variety of international themes, that for us, are very attractive.
He starts his special show with something that lots of us were talking about and which for all of us silently felt: we were fed up with the facemask. He goes on with koalas and a thousand other subjects with this humor of anecdotes which is always entertaining and which is especially enjoyable and frequent in streaming lately.
You probably know Jim Jefferies because of the FX Legit series or his own show he headed from 2017 to 2019.

Jim Jefferies is back on Netflix next month with his fifth stand-up special for the streamer, “High N’ Dry.” The special premieres globally on Netflix on February 14, just in time for Valentine’s Day. The stand-up follows previous specials “Jim Jefferies: Bare” (2014), “Jim Jefferies: Freedumb” (2016), “Jim Jefferies: This Is Me Now” (2018) and “Jim Jefferies: Intolerant” (2020). Scott Zabielski directed the new special.
“High N’ Dry” is actually Jefferies’ tenth TV standup special all together, which goes back to “Contraband” in 2008. According to the logline, “In the special, newly married and loving life with his wife and kids, Jefferies sounds off on the laziness of koala bears, the injustices of male pattern baldness and the reason why he’ll never drink again.”
Jefferies, Tim Sarkes, Alex Murray, Brian Volk-Weiss and Cisco Henson are executive producers of “High N’ Dry.”
Jefferies is currently on the road for his 2023 “Give’em What They Want Tour.

Andrew Lloyd Webber has made no secret of his distain for Hollywood’s movie adaptation of his long-running musical “Cats.”
Though the cinematic version offered up the rarity of A-list talent like Taylor Swift, Judi Dench, Jennifer Hudson, Jason Derulo and James Corden pretending to be full-sized felines, “Cats” was widely panned and flopped at the box office in spectacular fashion. It was so “off-the-scale wrong” that Lloyd Webber, who composed the Tony-winning show, bought a therapy dog to cope with the trauma.
There was a singular bright spot in an otherwise catastrophic experience, the 73-year-old composer now admits — and that was writing the song “Beautiful Ghosts” with Swift. Lloyd Webber revisited the making of the cinematic disaster at Variety Legit: Return to Broadway presented by City National, an event that brought out stage stars such as Beanie Feldstein and Sharon D. Rodriguez, Case and Dibai executive produce with Haddish via She Ready Productions and Evan Silverberg and Daniel Rappaport for Management 360.
Rodriguez was one of six comedians whose half-hour stand-up specials were featured by Haddish in Tiffany Haddish Presents: They Ready for Netflix.

Universal Television, where Hazy Mills and Martin are under overall deals, will produce.

NBC has given pilot green light to two comedies, multi-camera Jefferies, starring Jim Jefferies, from the stand-up comedian, writer-producer Suzanne Martin and Sean Hayes and Todd Milliner’s Hazy Mills; and single-camera American Auto, from Superstore creator Justin Spitzer and Aaron Kaplan’s Kapital Entertainment. Both projects hail from Universal Television where Hazy Mills and Spitzer are under overall deals.
Jefferies and American Auto both had a put pilot commitment at NBC — six years apart. Jefferies was pitched this past fall, while Spitzer and Kaplan originally teamed up and sold American Auto to NBC in 2013. The script did not go to pilot back then, and Spitzer went on to create another single-camera blue-color workplace comedy series for the network, hit Superstore, now in its fifth season. Unapologetically crass Australian stand-up comedian, actor, writer and political commentator Jim Jefferies has upgraded his residential circumstances in Los Angeles with the $3.15 million purchase of a newly built house in a leafy pocket of Studio City. Described in marketing materials as a “modern farmhouse,” the board-and-batten-sided family-sized domicile has five bedrooms and 5.5 bathrooms in more than 5,100 square feet protected by an extensive, camera-equipped security system.
The front door opens directly into a cavernous, loft-like combination living and dining room with matte-finished wide-plank floorboards and wood beams across the ceiling in the dining area. Anchored by a minimalist marble fireplace, the living room has a vaulted ceiling. A pass-through butler’s pantry connects the dining area to a gigantic, double-island kitchen fitted with every culinary bell and whistle money can buy. The kitchen is open to a spacious dining area and family room that features a fireplace set into an ebony-tile wall.

Jim Jefferies has a secret to tell about Brad Pitt. The movie actor has shown up several times on Comedy Central’s “The Jim Jefferies Show” as its unofficial weatherman, casually sharing the horrors of climate change. But here’s the truth: Pitt hasn’t dropped by in a year.
“This is the one that went viral, even though it was recorded a year ago,” Jefferies said of a recent Brad Pitt segment. The show had leftover footage of Brad doing a LeBron James joke, which felt timely because of the NBA playoffs. Slayer guitarist Kerry King happened to be on set, so they put him in front of a green screen, and it looked like the musician was a fan trying to talk to him.
“And then Gayle King is on the news going, ‘Wow, Brad Pitt must really love Jim Jefferies, he’s back on the show!’ I...

Every week, IndieWire asks a select handful of TV critics two questions and publishes the results on Tuesday. (The answer to the second, “What is the best show currently on TV?” can be found at the end of this post.)
This week’s question: What is the best TV show — former or current — that handles mental illness well?
Joyce Eng (@joyceeng61), TVGuide.com
“Bojack Horseman,” especially Season 4, is almost peerless when it comes to a raw, honest portrayal of mental health. His depression and anxiety aren’t deployed as plot devices like we’ve seen plenty of times elsewhere; they’re just part of him and none of it is rubbed in your face. He’s allowed to be, break down, self-destruct, and the show never offers quick fixes or easy answers. “Stupid Piece of Sh*t” is a brutal depiction, even if you don’t suffer from depression or anxiety,...

With so many new specials out there, instantly accessible, it can sometimes feel like the smaller fish in the pond are getting short shrift. Amy Schumer, Dave Chappelle and Jerry Seinfeld have all been featured this year alone: with only so many column inches (and so much screen space) to occupy,...

Jim Jefferies isn’t actually the kind of comedian that you’d expect to get a weekly “news” show, even on Comedy Central. Now, before you start arguing, there are a few reasons for that.
One, he’s not the sort of comedian who is going to parlay his stand-up into a wholesome sitcom that takes over the cultural awareness and is loved by everyone, like Seinfeld or Roseanne. For one thing, “Jefferies” is a goofy title, and “Jim” can’t stand alone, but more importantly, he’s the sort of comedian who makes a show like Legit, which was hilarious, and naturally didn’t last that long.
Two, –
Not to put too fine a point on it, but we’re not exactly mainstreaming some shit here. Jim Jefferies is a lot of things, but “for everyone” ain’t one of them.
The show is presented in the semi-unique format...

Every week, IndieWire asks a select handful of TV critics two questions and publishes the results on Tuesday. (The answer to the second, “What is the best show currently on TV?” can be found at the end of this post.)
This week’s question: In light of the recent “Roseanne” revival news, which sitcom would you like to see a revival of? (Let’s assume this is feasible from a network, talent, production, etc. standpoint.)
Liz Shannon Miller (@lizlet), IndieWire
So many great sitcoms are personality driven, which makes it hard to remember great premises worth reviving. (And also, when I think about some of my ‘90s favorites, like “Step by Step” or “Friends,” it’s like… Oh, maybe there’s nothing new under the sun.)
But, beyond my eternal wish that someone would remake “Almost Human” as an adorable rom-com about Karl Urban and Robot Michael Ealy falling in...

Following a string of misfires, critical failures, and box office disappointments, it looks like Eddie Murphy is preparing to star in another movie. But for those of you hoping that it might be a triumphant return, temper your expectations: Brett Ratner is directing.
THR says the two — who previously worked together on 2011's Tower Heist — are reteaming for Soul Soul Soul: The Murray Murray Story, a fake documentary about an iconic '60s soul singer named Murray Murray (Murphy). The logline: "After a hot new artist samples his hit 1962 song, Murray attempts to get his old band back together in the hopes of taking down hip-hop." That could be promising, but Ratner being behind the camera is a massive red flag. He's much better at producing and financing films than he is directing them, and Murphy seems to have completely lost whatever star power he once had. (The script comes from writer Chris Case,...

Despite passing on "Supernatural" spin-off series "Bloodlines," The CW president Mark Pedowitz still has hopes for a potential spin-off of the long-running show with discussions about the matter to take place in June and July.
Pedowitz told reporters today: "We believe that there's a real brand in Supernatural. We had six really good pilots this year. We felt that Supernatural [spinoff Bloodlines] just didn't quite get there, though we do know that people would come to it based on what we saw that night. I've already spoken to the creator and the studio. They know that we want to develop once more next season, a Supernatural spinoff.

Fxx and FX are joining in the fun with announcing shows that will not be returning for 2014-2015. Fxx has confirmed Legit is over and will not be around for a third season. The comedy first aired on FX, but was switched to Fxx for a second season. While that was a sign that the show was not a success story, fans still held out for hope about a third possible season. Even the series star, DJ Qualls said that he hoped for a third season back in February. However, he has shown that he was just happy with what the show had given him.
FX is also axed their animated series Chozen. It premiered in January of this year and lacked the draw that they hoped for. Fox and their related channels have become a prime spot of adult, animated shows-but Chozen‘s serious story with attempt at humor fell flat.

Didn't the summer used to be a quiet time in telly-land?
No longer - now the sunny months are packed with top TV and the Tube Talk Q&A is working tirelessly all year round to provide you with teasers, scoop and the latest UK air dates for your Us favourites. Hope you appreciate all of our hard work.
Is there any news on Les Revenants season 2?
News has been scarce on the Les Revenants front of late - that's The Returned for any folk less fancy than DS user Adamsk.
But here's what we do know - Channel 4 have acquired the rights to a second series and originally planned to air new episodes in late 2014. However, production on the next run of episodes has now been postponed - until September at least - meaning that The Returned won't return to its French home Canal+ until 2015.
So it's looking...

Fxx has pulled the plug on Legit after two seasons. Tonight's episode will also serve as the comedy's series finale.
Legit revolves around a fictional version of Australian stand-up comic Jim Jeffries who's made it big on the comedy circuit in the Us and now wants to grow up. His friends and Venice, CA roommates are his divorced and alcoholic best friend, Steve (Dan Bakkedahl), and Steve's brother, Billy (DJ Qualls) who suffers from muscular dystrophy. Episodes are based on Jeffries' stand-up routines.
The series has struggled in the ratings, particularly once it moved from FX to Fxx. As a result, the cable channel has decided they don't want a third season.
In a post on his Facebook page, Jeffries wrote, "Legit has been cancelled. Sorry to everyone who was a fan of the show, please watch tonight it's the...

Animated comedy Chozen has been canceled by FX after one season, and comedy Legit on the young-adult skewing Fxx will not be returning for a third, it was announced Wednesday.
The cancellations aren’t surprising as both shows had been struggling in the ratings. Chozen was the first original series ordered for Fxx and centered on a white, gay rapper just out of prison, voiced by Bobby Moynihan. The series had its finale March 31.
