"Mandje" was chose as the film title because it is a word used in the fairy tale to summon the fish. It has been translated to possibly mean basket or "little man", which ties along with the main character very well... As he is continuously ignoring his own feelings about his wife's wishes.
The blood used in this film was chocolate syrup, similar to films of the time period. This was the "fake blood" of choice for the film industry back then.
The film's original poster was hand drawn by the director Cameron Currin's mother, Suzanne Mills.
