It has been announced that Doc of the Dead will be making its world premiere at South By South West 2014. SXSW 2014 will take place from March 7 – 16 in Austin, Texas and they started announcing details on the upcoming festival this week. We don’t have screening details yet, but we’ll be providing readers with more SXSW coverage over the coming months.

Doc of the Dead is a zombie culture documentary that is being directed by Alexandre O. Philippe (The People vs. George Lucas). The documentary is expected to be wrapped up later this year and we have an update on some of the horror icons that have filmed segments.
We previously told you that Simon Pegg and George A. Romero have filmed segments. On top of that, we’ve been told that you can expect interviews with Max Brooks, Stuart Gordon, and Sid Haig. Other horror-related actors and filmmakers are expected to take part and we’ll have another update when they are officially confirmed.
Additionally, we’ve been told that they’re planning a trip to Haiti to cover the voodoo zombie origins with an expert on the topic. A release date has not been announced, but it’s been revealed that the film will be wrapped up by the end of the year.
