At the first Godzilla Fest, I guess the man of the hour just appeared and didn't do too much else, but it was better than nothing.
In 2021, he fought Hedorah, and that was fun.
Now, in 2022, he takes on Gigan, and it gave me most of what I'd want out of a Godzilla short. It was keeping the Showa era alive and focusing on little else beyond a well-executed fight.
Some of it's creatively shot, the suits look great, and there are a handful of standout moments, like the camera passing through the office and out the other side of the building, all the while tracking the two monsters and their fight. I was a little sad when it all ended, just because of how entertaining it was.
If anyone were to edit all these Godzilla Fest shorts into one eventually, that would be tons of fun to watch.
