A Japanese saw the film "Upendra" in Bangalore was impressed by the movie so much that he admitted it similar to Buddha ideology and the concept of Maslow's hierarchy of needs. Later, It got released in Japan as well. It was screened at Yubari International Fantastic Film Festival in 2001.
