A24’s psychological horror Heretic, starring Golden Globe-nominated Hugh Grant, is now available to watch at home. Directed by Scott Beck and Bryan Woods, the film combines creeping dread with a thought-provoking exploration of faith, control, and human resilience. Fans can stream it today and pre-order a special edition Blu-ray or 4K Uhd featuring exclusive behind-the-scenes content.
Set against a chilling winter backdrop, Heretic follows Sister Barnes (Sophie Thatcher) and Sister Paxton (Chloe East), two Mormon missionaries sent to the secluded home of Mr. Reed (Hugh Grant), a reclusive and enigmatic man. What begins as a routine visit takes a sinister turn as Reed traps them in his house, forcing the women into a twisted experiment in faith and survival. With a haunting mix of manipulation and cruelty, Reed’s motives—and the horrifying truth behind them—unravel in a series of shocking revelations.

Despite stiff competition on that year’s rock-legend road-show circuit—the Grateful Dead touring the massive Wall of Sound speaker system, Csny reunited, hitting the sheds, and de-uniting in record time—there was only one outing anybody meant when they said Tour ’74. That January and February, Bob Dylan and The Band reunited for 39 shows in 21 cities, their first jaunt together—and Dylan’s first, period—since the notorious 1966 world tour that would feed rock’s early bootleg industry.

Bob Dylan and the Band brought their reunion tour to arenas all across North America in January 1974 before touching down in New York City at the tail end of the month for three sold-out shows at Madison Square Garden. Demand for tickets was feverish, and a handwritten spreadsheet at the Bob Dylan Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma, shows that Yoko Ono, Miles Davis, David Bromberg, Bob Gottlieb, Allen Ginsberg, Murray The K, Mary Martin, Noel “Paul” Stookey, and Sid Bernstein were all on the guest list. (Paul Simon’s name was crossed out.

Fifty years ago, Bob Dylan reunited with the Band for an arena tour where they performed 40 shows in just 42 days, often playing two gigs a night. The double live LP Before The Flood featured recordings from their concerts in New York and Los Angeles, but that represented just a tiny fraction of what they captured on tape throughout the run.
The rest is finally coming out September 20 on the 27-disc, 431-track box set Bob Dylan—The 1974 Live Recordings. It features newly mixed recordings of Dylan’s complete set at 27 concerts,...

The adventures of space bounty hunters, also known as Cowboy Bebop, have been an inspiration to many for almost 26 years. The series created by Shinichirō Watanabe is considered one of the best anime series out there to this day. It had twenty-six episodes and ran for almost a year, but it still managed to leave a mark on the anime industry.

The mark was so big that Cowboy Bebop fans are still waiting for any kind of spin-off series or movie of the story, even after 26 years. While there were some hopes of potential sequels and spin-offs, nothing was confirmed until now, when Koichi Yamadera, the voice actor of the protagonist, Spike Spiegel, gave fans the bad news.

The movie begins with a black screener, while what seems to be a newscaster is reporting a work-related accident that led to the death of two workers. It turns out that the sound is coming from the car radio of a man who is parked in an area where he is looking for a specific house he was asked for by a wealthy lady, along with another man, his assistant, Seong-tae. The area is in Daegu, within a forest and includes houses of traditional style. The two discuss various matters, from whether the boss, Yong-bae, is sick and the assistant's knack for buying lottery tickets, when their employer appears.

For many anime fans, Cowboy Bebop is the ultimate anime experience. The one-season series became a massive hit and a proper cult classic, with basically everyone citing it as one of the best anime series ever made. And while a movie was released and we also had Netflix’s failed attempt at a live-action revival, Cowboy Bebop is more or less a thing of the past as the original series has been untouched and unfazed by the recent revival and reboot craze. And while there has been some activity there, with merch coming out and even a remaster of the original Ost, the 25th anniversary of the anime once again raised the hopes of those hoping for another Cowboy Bebop work, but it seems that this is not going to happen.

First, the spoiler-free pitch for one editor’s midnight movie pick — something weird and wonderful from any age of film that deserves our memorializing.
Then, the spoiler-filled aftermath as experienced by the unwitting editor attacked by this week’s recommendation.
The Pitch: Ain’t It Just Like the Movies to Play Tricks When You’re Trying to Be So Quiet?
As if assembling the greatest songbook in the history of Western music through six decades (and counting!) of nonstop creative growth and experimentation wasn’t enough, Bob Dylan has made a surprisingly large impact on the world of film. In 1966, he helped launch the cinéma vérité movement — and captivated audiences with the mystery of who broke that fucking glass — by allowing D.A. Pennebaker to follow him for the landmark documentary “Don’t Look Back.

On May 12, 1976, Bob Dylan’s Rolling Thunder Revue played a gig at the Municipal Auditorium in Austin, Texas, that left little historical mark. Newspaper clippings from the week reveal that furious fans protested with signs outside the hall (“Boycott Rolling Thunder Ripoff”) when they learned plans for separate early and late shows were scuttled at the last minute, creating a general admission melee where seat assignments were suddenly meaningless. But it’s one of the few shows from the 57-date Rolling Thunder Revue that never surfaced in the collector community...

Fifty years ago this week, Bob Dylan and the Band launched their landmark Before the Flood reunion tour with a pair of shows at Chicago Stadium. Dylan had been off the road for eight very long years at this point, and demand to see his return was so intense that promoters received 5.5 million ticket requests via a cumbersome mail-order system. To put that in perspective, that was four percent of the entire population of America.

Mj Lenderman, who plays guitar for our April 2023 CoSign Wednesday, has shared the new solo single “Knockin.”
“Knockin” was first released on a self-recorded EP Lenderman shared in 2021, and has since become a frequent fan-favorite highlight of his live shows.
“I was spending a lot of time watching John Daly videos and came across a rendition he does of Dylan’s ‘Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door,’” Lenderman explains of the track’s origins in a press release. “Daly’s version includes an extra verse about golfing. My ‘Knockin’ became a staple of the Mj Lenderman & The Wind live set and it felt like a good idea to re-record it professionally.”
The newly-released “Knockin” has all the hi-fi benefits of professional recording, but still retains that DIY charm. Driven by a languid beat and embellished with a good dose of pedal steel, the track finds Lenderman lovelorn: “Loneliness is simple/ Not much...

Bob Dylan has been writing songs for decades. While he has had quite a few hits under his own name, other musicians made some Dylan songs more famous. He also wrote songs with other artists that he never released himself. Here are seven surprising songs that Dylan wrote.
‘Wagon Wheel’
In 2004, Old Crow Medicine Show released “Wagon Wheel,” the lead single on their debut album. Since then, musician Darius Rucker released a popular cover of the song. While Ketch Secor, the lead singer of Old Crow Medicine Show, wrote the verses to the song, he borrowed the chorus and melody from a 1973 Dylan demo entitled “Rock Me Mama.”
“Bob Dylan cast a spell with every song he made, particularly in 1973, when he wrote that chorus,” Secor told Relix. “I’m convinced that he put down his legal pad after he wrote that chorus, and he scrapped it because he wrote ‘Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door.

Paul McCartney’s “Live and Let Die” is an epic anthem and still one of the best James Bond songs ever. It’s a challenging song to perform, as a large orchestration is involved, but Guns N’ Roses accepted the challenge in 1991. The Guns N’ Roses version of “Live and Let Die” was different in several ways, and a few of their creative decisions made it “complex” to record.

Guns N’ Roses was one of the most prominent bands of the 1980s and 1990s. Johnny Cash was one of Bob Dylan’s earliest supporters. He became a fan of the younger artist from the moment he heard him, and he went out of his way to support Dylan in his career. They performed together, and Cash covered several of Dylan’s songs. Cash said that whenever he listened to the other artist, he felt slightly jealous. He wished he could translate his thoughts into lyrics as Dylan did.

Performing live is exhilarating, but for these musicians who wiped out onstage, it can also be dangerous. Sometimes, an onstage fall barely even slows down a concert. For other musicians, it can land them in the hospital. Here are nine artists who have taken a tumble during a performance.

In 1975, Alice Cooper was performing in Vancouver when a prop sent him careening off the stage.
“I was using a toy box as a prop and it fell over and knocked me off the stage,” he said, per Ultimate Classic Rock. “I cracked my ribs and hit my head on the cement floor. I put my hand on my head and it felt like a baseball. But we came back on in that old ‘show-must-go-on’ bit.”
He returned to the stage for a few more songs despite having a concussion and broken ribs.

Many musicians have recorded covers of famous Bob Dylan songs. Dylan is aware of most of them and has varying opinions of these artists’ renditions of his music. One rock legend who covered a song of Bob Dylan’s is Bruce Springsteen, and the singer thought it was “incredible.”

Bob Dylan doesn’t have many hits in his career. He’s never had a No. 1 hit, and he only has four top-10 hits. However, “Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door” came close to reaching the top 10. Dylan wrote the song for the 1973 film Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid, but it was released two months before its premiere as a single.
While it peaked at No.12 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100, it was a top 10 hit in a few countries, including Ireland, Australia, and Norway. It’s...

It's been over a year since Netflix's live-action adaptation of "Cowboy Bebop" began then ended, but it was clear the project was a misfire long before now. The series was canceled three weeks after premiere, lightning speed even by Netflix standards. It turns out that one of those disappointed was the anime's primary creator, animation director Shinichirō Watanabe (he and his team are collectively credited as the creator "Hajime Yatate").
Before Netflix's "Cowboy Bebop" premiered, Watanabe revealed he'd been asked for his input: "I read the initial concept and provided my opinions, but I'm not sure if they will be reflected in the final product." He added that his suggestions being ignored would "leave a bad taste in [his] mouth," but to avoid making the crew's jobs tougher, he would simply hope it "turn[ed] out good." His hopes weren't met.
Watanabe recently spoke with Forbes. Topics ranged from how he...

Expanding the diversity of Spain’s film-tv sector, Moroccan-Spanish director, Swel Noury Cazorla’s “Azahar Baby,” is 10 of ten projects pitching at San Sebastian first Creative Investors’ Conference, which is co-organized with CAA Media Finance.
Written, and to be directed, by Noury, the feature project is the first out of the gate for Noury and executive producer Sonia Ziadi Trives, who is also Moroccan–Spanish, at their Madrid-based joint production venture,Two Flavours Productions.
“Azahar Baby” weighs in as a coming-of-age dramedy. It tells the story of Yusef, an aspiring filmmaker who is making a documentary to make sense of his identity as a second-generation Moroccan immigrant.
Th project shows a vision of Arab Spain that is very realist, yet far more nuanced and more upbeat than most depictions, the two filmmakers said.
“We felt it’s a bet on us to be selected for the conference. It’s the...

Eric Nam is everything. A multi-hyphenated talent, Nam keeps adding to his eclectic list of accomplishments: a hit singer-songwriter, TV personality, podcaster, and now film actor–he was recently announced to star in the Forest Whitaker/Nina Yang Bongiovi-produced psychological thriller, Transplant. With his reach blanketing many arenas, it shouldn’t be a surprise that he’s amassed over four million followers on Instagram alone. But as his fans will tell you, the Atlanta-born, Korean American singer’s ubiquity isn’t what sets him apart. It’s that, despite his global success,...

The Japanese science fiction anime “Cowboy Bebop” is a 1998 twenty-six episode television series which takes place on Mars in the year 2071. Highly acclaimed and popular in the West, it’s about the adventures of a bunch of bounty hunters who fly around in the spaceship named “Bebop”. The aspect of connecting with one’s past, loneliness and lost is a reoccurring theme through the series. Furthermore, thanks to the amazing jazz soundtrack and action sequences, this is a memorable production indeed.
In 2001, “Cowboy Bebop: Knockin on Heaven’s Door” hits the big screen with more action and a bigger budget, however, it’s internationally known as “Cowboy Bebop: the Movie”, a full length feature film set near the end of the original series concerning a terrorist releasing a deadly virus on Mars. The reward for capturing him in is too tempting for our favorite bounty hunters to...

Netflix has turned into a great destination to explore unique anime series, both in terms of classics as well as the next big hits. Netflix is now playing host to Thus Spoke Kishibe Rohan, which is a four-episode Ova (Original Video Animation) series that’s connected to the long-running JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure franchise. Thus Spoke Kishibe Rohan presents four contrasting stories that form a collection of disturbing and suspenseful examinations of the human condition.
The series operates like a highly atypical animated anthology program and its compelling art design combined with the fact that it’s only four episodes long may leave many curious to check out the odd series. However, it’s understandable that some may be intimidated to give Thus Spoke Kishibe Rohan a chance if they’re not familiar with the anime that it’s spun off from. To help make the exciting new Ova series as accessible as possible,...
