In June 1976, Kerry Packer decides to declare war on the cricket establishment by secretly signing about 50 of the world's greatest players to form a break-away rebel tournament for salaries much larger than those offered by the cricket boards. The birth of World Series Cricket would change public opinion and challenge the establishment.

With attacks from the establishment and the media and a conflict among the players putting his plans for World Series Cricket into disarray and threatening to ruin him financially, Kerry Packer and his team take their most radical steps yet in a bid to win over both the players and the public.
