Nikhil Dwivedi will be making his comeback with Suryaveer Singh Bhullar’s Tamanchey releasing October 10th.
The actor who was last seen in ‘Hate Story’ in 2012, is now playing the lead opposite Richa Chadda. The couple play criminals, on the run from the law with several twists and turns- A bad boy falls in love with a bad girl.
Even though the movie releases tomorrow, several critics and members of the industry, who attended an early screening had great things to say about Nikhil’s performance.
“Nikhil in fact delivers a heartbreaking performance as a simpleton who flips for the siren and is willing to go to any lengths to get her. At times his baba-in-the-woods act reminded one of Raj Kapoor in Sri 420. Here is an actor, who has repeatedly proved himself to be better than many so-called stars in Bollywood. Wonder what keeps him from getting there,” said critic Subhash K Jha.

If Shahid Kapoor and Vishal Bhardwaj wouldn’t have staked their claim over Kaminey, Kaminey 2 and more, Nikhil Dwivedi would have certainly wanted that title for his Tamanchey. Reason being that he is pretty much playing the kind of character that the expletive suggests. Moreover, with his partner-in-crime (well, literally) Richa Chadha not being far behind in making sure that her characterization is on the same lines as his, there was a common consensus amongst one and all that Kaminey – in any permutation or combination – was just the right fit for Tamanchey.
“If Kaminey wouldn’t have already been used, we could have well have called our film one. Perhaps, even ‘Do Kaminey’ would have been just the right fit,” winks Nikhil, who is arriving on the big screen after a hiatus.
He goes on to explain his fascination behind the term ‘kaminey’.
“See, we have always seen love stories of good people on screen.

Now this is the reason why surprises are always welcome. In the middle of all the hype surrounding the music of some of the multi-crore biggies (some of which have impressed, and some which haven’t), there is a dark horse in the form of Tamanchey which has scored a hat-trick in quick time. What seemed like a one off instance, courtesy the superbly done new version of ‘Pyaar Mein Dil Pe Maar De Goli’, has taken a full-fledged avtar, courtesy ‘In Da Club’ and now ‘Dildaara’ striking the right chord too.
Of course to begin with, all eyes were on the chartbuster song ‘Pyaar Mein Dil Pe….’ from Amitabh Bachchan’s ‘Mahaan’, which created a first major impression when heard along with the well cut promo of Tamanchey. With young ones like Nikhil Dwivedi and Richa Chaddha in there, the quirky theme of the film – what with con, heist...

Nikhil Dwivedi is a happy man indeed. Promo of his upcoming film Tamanchey has got a good response across board, what with a good deal of endorsement coming in from none other than Salman Khan. While that has been a good boost for the film, the very fact that he is being seen in an altogether different avtar when compared to where he started six years ago with My Name Is Anthony Gonsalves', is a big deal indeed for Nikhil who has been picking his films very carefully. Fashion TV films and Wild Elephant Motion Pictures launched the very first trailer of the movie Tamanchey. The movie has Richa Chaddha (as Babu) and Nikhil Dwivedi (as Munna) starring in the lead. The trailer opens with a crashed police van which was transporting the two convicts (aka Babu and Munna) who then escape authorities but can’t seem to escape from each other. Eventually, the two fall in love but this is not your normal run-of-the-mill love story.
When asked about how Richa prepared for her foul-mouthed, rougish character she said, “Mumbai roads were a big teacher. Whenever I am driving, my mind is constantly clouded with such words and language. I have been living in Mumbai for five to six years and so, I was well prepared.”
Tamanchey is set to release on the 19th of September this year.

Abhishek Bachchan is thrilled to hear that the upcoming film Tamanchey is using the classic song ‘Pyar Mein Dil Pe’ as its tag line.
The original song, from Amitabh Bachchan’s 1983 film Mahaan co-starring Waheeda Rahman, Parveen Babi and Zeenat Aman was a huge success and is one of Abhishek’s favorites. It was sung by Kishore Kumar and Asha Bhosle, with R.D. Burman’s music direction.
Suryaveer Singh Bhullar’s Tamanchey is now reviving the classic with Bappi Lahiri. The version clearly shows how music has evolved over the last 30 odd years. While the song has a new age feel to it, it still keeps the essence of the original classic, making sure to attract Bollywood fans of all ages.
Tamanchey stars Nikhil Dwivedi and Richa Chadda and is directed by Navneet Behal. It is produced by Wild Elephants Motion Pictures in association with Fashion TV- marking its entry into the Bollywood film-making business.

Richa Chadda certainly has made an impression in her relatively new career in Hindi films. The young actress first came on the scene as Dolly in Dibakar Banerjee’s Oye Lucky Lucky Oye, but it was her second film that made everyone sit up and take notice. As Nagma Khatoon in Anurag Kashyap’s Gangs of Wasseypur Parts 1 and 2, the actress received critical acclaim, raves and applause from audiences, and even took home the Filmfare Critics Award for Best Actress with her outstanding performance. For her next role, Richa is taking on something new in Hindi cinema, that of a female Don in Mrighdeep Singh Lamba’s comedy Fukrey. We got the great chance to chat with Richa, who says she always, 100% wanted to be an actress! It was a fabulous conversation about acting, Fukrey and what’s coming next.

The raw and feisty Nagma Khatoon in Gangs of Wasseypur played by Richa Chadda perfectly complemented her gangster husband Sardar Khan (Manoj Bajpai). In her second ever role, Chadda got noticed by the industry and reviewers alike. She doesn’t want to limit herself to offbeat films, but says that ‘masala’ films aren’t her cup of tea either. Richa Chadda in a conversation with Nandita Dutta:
How do you look back at the experience of shooting Gangs of Wasseypur?
It was the most fun experience of my life. I had never imagined I would get such a big break. The film went to Cannes, it won acclaim there. Now it’s doing well here. I am getting good reviews. It’s like a dream come true for any newcomer.
How was it working with Anurag Kashyap?
It’s anybody’s dream to work with Anurag. He is very polite and warm person.
