HBO’s latest hit series The Last of Us now officially has a soundtrack for its first season, a massive, 66-song compilation of all the music scoring the post-apocalyptic tale. Check it out below.

After working on the original The Last of Us video game, composer Gustavo Santaolalla returns for the HBO series, joined by fellow artist David Fleming. In an upcoming interview with Consequence, Santaolalla describes his approach to the soundtrack, saying, “The process of adapting, it was more in a way like craftwork than actually a new creation, because the themes were there, those things are there, like the characters, it wasn’t about creating a new job, it wasn’t about finding what is interesting. For example, in seeing how Pascal and Bella, they’re different than the actors that played the voices, but at the same time, they keep the soul of the characters intact.”

Shout! Studios has acquired U.S. and Canada rights to Studiocanal and Working Title’s cross-cultural British romantic comedy “What’s Love Got to Do with It?” with a view to releasing it in late spring, it was revealed at Berlin’s European Film Market on Tuesday.

Directed by veteran Indian filmmaker Shekhar Kapur (“Elizabeth”), “What’s Love Got to Do With It?” follows documentary-maker and dating app addict Zoe (Lily James), for whom swiping right has only delivered an endless stream of Mr Wrongs, to her eccentric mother Cath’s (Emma Thompson) dismay. For Zoe’s childhood friend and neighbor Kaz (Shazad Latif), the answer is to follow his parents’ example and opt for an arranged (or “assisted”) marriage to a bright and beautiful bride from Pakistan (Sajal Aly). Exclusive: The Agency has signed Rūrangi co-showrunner and director Max Currie for global representation.

Currie will join a roster of clients at The Agency already including Sally Wainwright, Russell T Davies and Sam Mendes.

His New Zealand-set drama Rūrangi won the International Emmy for Best Short Form series and a second season is due to launch this month.

Currie’s next directing project is Refuge, which is being produced by Craig Gainsborough. Arlo Green (Nautilus) wrote the script and will star in the feature.

As we reported in December, Hulu acquired U.S. rights to season two of Rūrangi, which is due to launch this month. Prime Video has taken it in the UK.

Rūrangi is set in New Zealand and follows the story of transgender activist who returns to the small rural community he’s from with the hopes of reconnecting with his father. Currie was co-showrunner alongside Briar Grace-Smith.

This Sunday’s Madam Secretary (CBS, 10/9c) focuses on the plight of a group of foreign lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer refugees seeking asylum — a storyline dear to both the political drama’s hotshot strategist Kat Sandoval and the actress who plays her.

The post-apocalyptic thriller Refuge has completed its film festival run. Now, this title is heading towards a Video-on-demand release, via Gravitas Ventures. In the new independent horror movie Refuge, Carter Roy, Amy Rutberg, and young actress Eva Grace Kellner play a family trying to survive in a post-apocalyptic world where the population has been almost entirely wiped out by disease. Given recent, panic-causing news events, the film could hardly be more topical. So what is it like to have made a movie about a global pandemic just as people are reaching for their face masks? "It’s incredibly coincidental that it’s peaking right now," says Refuge director Andrew Robertson, whose film recently played the Toronto After Dark and L.A.-based Screamfest genre festivals.

Screamfest is about a week out in Los Angeles. Per usual, it will bring a handful of promising new genre titles and Refuge is one we've got our eye on this year.

Directed by Andrew Robertson, the film is a post-apocalyptic thriller set amid the ruins of a collapsed America.

Refuge chronicles a family's struggle to survive and rebuild a life in the wake of a great catastrophic plague. Living in isolation, within an old boarded up home, they do their best to maintain a sense of normalcy amidst a lawless world of roaming gangs and dwindling resources.
