Between the live action reboot of Mortal Kombat and my growing appreciation of the animated Batman films it was pretty much a given that I would check out another of Warner’s animated offerings, Mortal Kombat Legends: Battle of the Realms.
Mortal Kombat Legends: Battle of the Realms begins with a couple fleeing through deserted streets before being confronted by a trio of nasty looking creatures. They kill the couple but Raiden (Dave B. Mitchell; Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous) arrives in time to save their baby whom the mother names Liu Kang with her dying breath.
We’re barely a minute in and already there’s a decapitation and a pair of eyes exploding from their sockets.

Originally titled Where the Devil Hides I offer you The Devils Hand. Im not terribly fond of either title but my complaints are obviously far too late. With more than a passing debt to the 1981 Wes Craven semiclassic Deadly Blessing this film places us in a tightknit strict and dangerously religious small town called New Bethlehem. Complete with a powerhungry and outoftouch leader (Colm Meaney here and the legendary Ernest Borgnine in Deadly Blessing) as well as supernatural goingson and the alluring draw of the outside world into this thinlyveiled Amish community the comparisons are ripe for the picking. Not to mention a scary barn sequence in the hayloft (remember that ubercreepy scene with Sharon Stone yes that...

According to Deadline, Frank Dillane and Alycia Debnam Carey have been cast in the pilot for AMC's The Walking Dead companion series, which is to be directed by Adam Davidson (The Day Trippers). The show will be set around the same time as events of The Walking Dead but take place in a different location, and will focus on a male divorced teacher and a female guidance councillor trying to survive the zombie apocalypse. Apparently Dillane and Debnam Carey will play this unnamed woman's son (who has a drug problem) and daughter (described simply as "ambitious"). There are no more details on their roles at this time. Dillane, 23, is a British actor best known for playing Owen Coffin in In The Heart of the Sea and Tom Riddle Jr. in Harry Potter & The Half-Blood Prince. Aussie Debnam Carey has appeared in movies such as The Devil's Hand and Into...

The devil loves tormenting good Christian communities.
From Roadside Attractions, “The Devil’s Hand” stars Rufus Sewell (“Hercules,” “Gods of Egypt”), Alycia Debnam Carey (“Into the Storm”), Adelaide Kane (“Reign”) and Colm Meaney (“Star Trek: Deep Space Nine”).
Here’s the synopsis:
Something very strange happened in the small village of New Bethlehem, a devout community kept under the tight reins of the town's vigilant Elders. Six girls born on the same day to different mothers. Perhaps a coincidence or as most believe a chilling omen of something yet to come. Now, on the eve of their 18th birthday, the young women are mysteriously disappearing one by one and feared dead. Terror has overtaken this quiet community. Could this be the work of a serial killer, one of the village elders or a horrific prophecy come true?
Latino-Review had an exclusive phone interview with actress Adelaide Kane on the release date for the film.

Have you heard of the new horror movie, The Devil’s Hand? No. Okay, how about Where the Devil Hides? Or maybe The Devil’s Rapture? If none of those ring a bell, then surely you’ve heard of The Occult. The last one is the original title, dating back to March 2012, when an official announcement was made and production commenced. Now that it is finally coming out, the title changes and long gap between production and release make perfect sense.
We begin in a birthing room. 6 girls are being born on the 6th day of the 6th month. This is very bad. There is talk of a prophecy and Satan and how “one will emerge.”

Devil possession and the Amish seem to go hand in hand so well that I'm a bit surprised this is the first time I've seen a horror movie with this setting and even more surprising, one that doesn't look like a total write-off.
Directed by Christian E. Christiansen (who previously made the terrible Single White Female rip-off/update The Roommate), The Devil's Hand (previously known as the equally generic but far more forgettable Where the Devil Hides) stars Rufus Sewell, Colm Meaney, Jennifer Carpenter and a slew of relative newcomers as the six girls at the center of this story. They were all born on the same night and according to prophecy, all but one will die and the last remaining survivor will become the titular Devil's Hand.

Dexter's Jennifer Carpenter stars in a new horror movie called The Devil's Hand. The story centers on six young Amish girls who are accused of being "Satan's children" because they were a born on the sixth day of the sixth month. Since they have the 666 factor working against them, they must fight for their lives when their devout community elders insist they be "cleansed" before turning 18.
I'm not expecting this to be an amazing film, but I hope it will at least provide some fun and creepy entertainment. Here's the official synopsis:
When six girls are born on the sixth day of the sixth month to different mothers in the small, devout village of New Bethlehem an ancient prophecy is set in motion -- on their 18th birthday one of the girls will become the Devil’s Hand. As the day approaches and one by one the young women begin to disappear,...

A new one-sheet for Christian E. Christiansen's new demonic thriller 'The Devil's Hand' (previously known as 'Where the Devil Hides') has emerged. It's a tad uninspired I'm afraid to report and unfortunately has to rely on oversized text to give it some impact. It does however feature a number of the main cast members that includes Alycia Debnam Carey, Adelaide Kane (below) and Leah Pipes. Director Christiansen, who directed the Leighton Meester and Minka Kelly 'Single White Female' styled thriller 'The Roommate', helms from a script penned by Karl Mueller. Rufus Sewell, Thomas McDonell, Jim McKeny, Katie Garfield, Ric Reitz and former 'Dexter' actress Jennifer Carpenter also star. Check out the poster below....

Zombies. Superheroes. Sequels. Hollywood’s obsession with all three is at an all-time high. Why a money-hungry producer hasn’t stumped up the cash for a zombie superhero sequel is beyond me. Another trend that’s growing thin is the endless stream of Devilish dirge. Granted, there are some films with ‘devil’ in the title that just happen to use beelzebub’s name – but are actually original, interesting movies regardless. What about The Devil’s Hand, then?
In production since 2012, it’s dallied with a title involving the lord of darkness in some capacity. First called The Occult, that was switched out in favour of Where The Devil Hides before the current title was settled on. We’re not certain that the title matters, especially with such a dodgy sounding concept.
In a tiny Bible belt town, six girls born on the sixth day of the sixth month to different mothers – a terrible prophecy begins!

"My birthday's at midnight. You have to kill me before it's too late." After dealing with a serial killing brother on the Showtime series "Dexter," now Jennifer Carpenter finds herself confronting evil as part of a small, Amish-like community in The Devil's Hand. A group of six girls have been born on the sixth day of the sixth month, prompting a worrisome religious prophecy for one of them to become possessed by the power of the devil. But is there actually a supernatural power involved here, or is someone behind the disappearance of the girls as their birthday approaches? It's PG-13 horror so don't get too excited. Watch! An official one-sheet for Where the Devil Hides (formerly The Occult and The Devil's Rapture) has arrived, and it's just as creepy and subtle as the last bit of eye candy we brought you back in April of 2013. Really good stuff!
Directed by Christian E. Christiansen, the flick stars Jennifer Carpenter, Alycia Debnam-Carey, Rufus Sewell, Thomas McDonell, Adelaide Kane, Leah Pipes, Colm Meaney, Stacey Edwards and Ric Reitz.
The film is heading into this year's Efm so hopefully we'll have some distro news soon.
Synopsis
Something very strange happened in the small village of New Bethlehem, a devout community kept under the tight reins of the town's vigilant Elders. Six girls born on the same day to different mothers. Perhaps a coincidence or, as most believe, a chilling omen of something yet to come. Now, on the eve of their 18th birthday, the young women are mysteriously disappearing one by one and feared dead.

The film formerly known as The Occult has a bunch of things changing. The film is now entitled The Devil’S Rapture, which just sounds dreamy, and instead of opening in February, the Jennifer Carpenter vehicle won’t open until October!
October 11th to be exact. The film is directed by Christian E. Christiansen (The Roommate), who has proven more creative than his parents, from a script by Karl Mueller. The cast, after Dexter’s Carpenter, includes Alycia Debnam-Carey, Rufus Sewell, Thomas McDonell, Adelaide Kane, Leah Pipes, Colm Meaney, Stacey Edwards, and Ric Reitz.
