It's a black clover non-canon movie, so you get pretty much exactly what you'd expect.
The movie's story is pretty mediocre. It doesnt really create any major plot holes and is self contained, but it doesn't do anything good either. It is just very basic, with quite a bit of bland and stupid dialogue, but it at least doesn't hurt to watch.
The action is what you should really come for. The movie starts with a battle, and pretty much continues with them all the way through. Powerscaling wise, some of them are a more than a bit questionable, but personally, I didn't find it distracting from the fun you get in return.
Lastly, the animation is decent enough. It's a movie, so of course a lot of the fights will look pretty good, but don't expect anything mind-numbingly amazing. There is quite a bit of CGI used in this movie (especially for backgrounds), but it's still okay, and it doesnt affect the major fights. I'd say the animation isn't at the level of the best black clover episodes, but it is definitely very enjoyable. Again, compared to other modern anime movies, it's pretty okay.
Overall, this movie is fun to watch if you go into it without expecting a deep, compelling story or fights reaching new heights in the industry. You will not be blown away, but it's good fun.

Sum... This movie is packed with great animation and somewhat good storyline. Feels a bit rushed though hence i gave it 8/10.
I watched this movie after finishing last season 2 weeks ago, i didn't read the reviews and didn't bother my self to check i just wanted to chillax and and entertain my self. I can really say that i was surprised!
Firstly... great animation and effects! I was shocked that this movie had this level of good frames and animation. It felt as if i was watching a Disney / Pixar grade film. Everything exceeded my expectations to be honest. Don't listen to what other say about this movie. Feels sad when i can really see and feel that theres been good amount of work put into this move and still some rate it 1 or 3 stars. Like what the hell at least appreciate the load of work put into this somewhat masterpiece! I Really enjoyed this movie and would highly recommend it to those who fished the series of at the last season.
Secondly... The choice of music was super and really felt what the producers wanted us to feel when watching the movie. My eyes 👀 got a little blurry, if you know what i mean . The only thing I didn't like was how they introduced the new characters! Everything happens fast in the beginning and I struggled to know who is the enemy and what their motive was. They didn't get enough time and had little to no backstory at all, that made it difficult for me to fully grasp the whole conflict and situation. In the end it was a bit more clear as I progressed through the end but still wasn't enough i think. That's why i rate it a 7.5 - 8 stars.
Watch it and I promise you will enjoy it and don't bother with the low rating, most of them are either haters or really just grumpy party killers / Karen's who doesn't care or appreciate others hard work.😎
Can't wait for the next season.

I would just like to clarify that I absolutely love Black Clover and it's easily one of the best modern shonen anime.
After watching so many non-canon anime movies I've accepted that none are gonna be anywhere near masterpieces. However, this movie does do a very good job at purely giving fans amazing action sequences, but that's about it. I'm not joking when I say this but the only thing this movie has are fights. THAT IS IT. Sure most are very fun and have gorgeous animation but oh my days it gets so repetitive. I'm struggling to properly structure these sentences together because I honestly don't have any other positives to say about this movie except from the fights and...the fights? Did you know there are fights in this movie? Really? Well guess what: there are fights in this movie! Character development? Nah not needed. An interesting original story? Nope. Well characterised villains with emotional backstories and a great motive? Absolutely not. Emotion? No. EMOTION??? No. Even the dialogue is poorly written and unbelievably repetitive. The characters just say the same things over and over and over AND OVER AGAIN. For example:
"I must destroy the country!" "No don't do it!" "But I must!" "No you can't!" "Nobody can stop me!" "Yes I will!" "I'm about the kill everyone!" "I'm gonna stop you!"
You see what I mean? This is literally every single interaction between a hero and a villain outside of like one conversation near the end (and it has nothing to do with the main plot). Even the dialogue between other characters have no depth and is just words that everyone has already said. I can't even give any other examples because all you have to do is think of the most basic script and you've got Black Clover Sword Of The Wizard King. I'm just shocked that a movie with this much hype and this many characters can have such a lackluster...well, everything. At least with the My Hero Academia movies there's actual interesting new characters and have emotional heights that hit (a matter of fact, as I'm writing this I've just realised this movie is basically MHA Heroes Rising just with different characters and without the emotion). This movie just has mindless fights that (whilst look very cool) have little emotional depth. Even smaller things like the comedy was basically no existent and the music was underwhelming. This is Black Clover which is known to consistently have some of the best anime songs in the modern anime scene.
Incase you couldn't tell, this movie has no emotion (outside of visual hype) which I find is absolutely crucial when considering if a movie is a masterpiece or not. I thought maybe the villains would get some well thought out backstories that make you feel some sort of sympathy or anger for/towards them but no and instead we're left to imagine for ourselves why each of them have the EXACT same goal and why we should actually care. Sure they all have cool powers and, again, well animated fast paced fights but that's just it. And what's worse is that Asta has nothing new going on. His goal is the exact same and says the same things he does in all 170 episodes of the show. Nothing in this movie influenced any part of his character even for a short period of time adding little to no investment and EMOTION.
The one thing I will say though is that this is the first Black Clover movie so I guess it's understandable that the plot is the most basic it can get. I'm just concerned that this is all non canon shonen anime movies will be from now on which is just sad. I know they technically can't do anything that would impact the main story but still I just want something. This is why you add new characters and give them some sort of development or an interesting relationship with the main characters even if its really predictable. One Piece Red introduced Uta who wasn't the greatest character in the One Piece universe but still had enough depth and relations to other characters for the audience to be invested in. This movie basically just had "Asta but evil" with no intriguing conflict aswell as 3 filler villains who...existed I guess.
So if you love cool fights that look visually amazing, you will love this movie and I'm happy for you. But if you focus on literally anything else then you probably won't have a good time and I'm so sorry for you. I'm getting the feeling that most people who have given this movie a 10/10 are probably just biased for Black Clover. Like I said I absolutely love the show but I'm not delusional enough to say that this movie was basically perfect. I'm giving it a 6 since as a spin-off anime movie it's absolutely amazing but just as a movie that requires people to consciously engage in, it's awful. If the characters were given better development or emotion then this would be way higher but since it lacked any of that I just can't do it.

Black Clover is finally receiving the fantastic animation that it deserves! I've missed these characters being on my screen and the music is perfect! The fights were incredible and the voice acting was top notch! Everyone brought their A game for their performance with a few stand outs like Noelle's VA. If I had to have a single negative about the film it's that I wished it was longer so we could spend more time fleshing out the villains but with the time we're giving they serve their purpose and we get an understanding of their motivation. If you love Black Clover and haven't watched the film yet go watch it now! Oh and if you've already watched it go watch it again!

Its has been a long 2 years, but we finally got this master piece in animation, from sound effects, to eye pleasing spell casting. The voice work in both the English and Japanese dubbing were amazing, I give props to both teams. All the previous Wizard Kings were all amazing, I hope one day Tabata will illustrate and shows us what all 28 wizard kings look like and what there magic was.
By the way this is all Canon, it counts as volume 23.5, witch was given to people who went to the movie screening, and to anyone who sees it in theaters in Japan. Lets hope we hear something about season 5 soon.

Animation was great. It is 95% action that never stops. But because of that the writing and story was meh. Story was rushed, and they dropped some exposition like they were expecting people to be introduced to the show through this movie. But in my opinion there wasn't enough exposition to really catch anyone new up to where they wouldn't still be confused. They show glimpses of all of the villain's backstories but it's never enough to actually know their motivation. Since everything is so rushed, it just makes the movie feel like a couple of episodes of filler, even though there's limits being surpassed.
On the same note, it's more Black Clover, so that's great.

Thank you for the movie! I have missed the anime and have been waiting for more Black Clover for so long! So now the question is when is the next season coming?!
The movie is great, classic Asta, love Yami and they brought in other Wizard Kings! It's nice to see that other Wizard Kings thought the same thing, they wanted everyone in the kingdom to be treated equal. They definitely aren't going about it the same ways but at the core they all want the same thing. They know the kingdom needs to change and eventually come to see that it may be slow but that their dreams for change in the kingdom is starting to come about in the new knights. Sekke ha-ha is self serving as always but I like the story, animation and how it all comes together! Great job, please bring back the anime now although I have the manga I want to see in anime what happens next, you can't leave us with this HUGE cliff hanger!

Great animation really nice story. Wish it was abit longer since I felt it was quite abit rushed but loved it regardless. I seen it with a friend who haven't watched black clover before and he managed to understand it which I wasn't expecting tbh since it takes place at around the 158th episode. The animation was top tier from start to finish something we aren't very used to in black clover they also nailed the characters designs. There were a little bit of foreshadowing for what happens in the manga but nothing that people who haven't read it will notice. Overall definitely give it a shot if you're a fan of fantasy magic and an MC who will stop at nothing to achieve his dream!

Black Clover is one of my most favorite anime's. I have been waiting for something to come out! The cliffhanger that we were left on leaves an immense season to come. This move good but not amazing, this movie was obviously completely centered around Asta but there were some aspects that were brought into the movie that haven't been hinted to before. The backstory could've been worked on for the villains that were introduces but other than that the amazing animation is what drags me in further and further. I look forward to what's to come, and cannot wait for the next season!
PS: Stay away from Netflix!

I didnt know an animation could look more realistic than reality itself. Black Clover:Sword of Wizard King has truly outdone itself. The plot is also captivating and the villains just never seem to go down. Everyone not giving up on their dreams and goals because they all want peace and prosperity for Clover Kingdom. Truly splendid and astonishing, so far the biggest scale of anime fights. Ahh yes Haruka Mirai is always there to save the day with Asta swinging his sword against the biggest threat he has faced so far. I hope the series will continue with the breath taking manga that is going beyond even this movie.

Black Clover is one of my favourite anime's ever and I missed these characters so much. Every single character has a special place in my otaku heart.
Peak visual and art style with smooth and flawless animation. Anime is transforming rapidly as qualitywise and I can't wait for the future.

What the hell the was that? Just finished watching. All heroes acts in the way they have never acted on TV show. They just looks the same, but they are other guys. I have feeling that those who were working on movie, have never seen TV show. I don't remember situations when captains just watching Asta fight and do nothing.
Dialogues are so stupid, that you can turn off sound and you will lose nothing.
Story is also really primitive. All the story you can understand in first 15 minutes. After that only fights.
The only thing I hope is that next TV show season wouldn't be so bad. Please don't let those guys who was working on this movie to work on TV show.

This movie has set a really good example in anime movie world. Really loved the story line and action animation. Loved how they handled the pace of the whole movie with perfect execution of character story, fight scenes, humour and suspense. It was a movie worth waiting for every second. The soundtracks for the movie is also top notch. If you're wondering about the animation then rest assured, as you will find one of the best animated works . You won't feel lost to watch the movie even if you haven't watch the whole anime. Really well written and animated. Let's give the Black Clover team lot's of love .

Non-canon piece, so there's minimal character development. The story is rushed and the plot has some nonsensical parts to patch the story, but it's good action so save it for when you have some downtime. It'll give fans a bit of feels from being able to see the characters in a new story, but really doesn't contribute to the characters long term or the series arc. Characters mostly end the movie the way they started, just with a bit more battle experience. The only possible contribution to the main arc might be calling up the new characters in from the movie into the main arc in the future.
It is it entertaining though, seeing the Black Bulls' epic teamwork again, Yuno's effortless elegance, and Asta's persistence. Now bring on Season 5 already!

One of the best anime films oat, unbelievable animation and such a good story for the time period it's set in the black clover verse.
This film takes place during the time skip period in the black clover anime just before the invasion from the Dark triad of the spade kingdom devils, just before captain Yami and the captain of the golden dawns is captured by the triad In the anime show.
The story of this film is captivating and don't get me started on the animation ... INSANE, stupid perriot really pulled out all the stops for this and let's hope it continues when the anime returns in the near future.
None stop action with unbelievable animation in the Clover Kingdom. 10/10.

Black Clover gets a lot of hate for being a Naruto rip off. As a major Naruto fan I have to say so much of this hate is undeserved. Sure there are a lot of nods to Naruto among others that people are fiercely protective of (and rightfully so) but I can't help but love it! The writing is great the characters are fun and dynamic and have great redemption arcs. It's everything I love about all my favorite anime's.
This was the best anime movie I've seen. I've watched all of Naruto and while it pays homage to it and so many other great anime's it deserves its own place. Both the series and the movie are fun and the characters are amazing.
Just watch it! You won't be sorry.

The title pretty much sums up the film. Two groups fight one another for over an hour and a half while spouting cliche lines about the power of friendship and tenacity. Once in a while, the villains will hint at some philosophical or political issue, such as the oppression of the poor, which the heroes rebut with the equivalent of "Nuh uh," "No you," and "You're just saying words." Very convincing arguments from both sides. Of course, we aren't given the slightest glimpse of these character's society to know if either one is correct or not, but only one side continuously brings up "never giving up" and friendship and stuff so I suppose we're to assume they're the heroes.
After an hour and a half in, I decided to try to figure out what exactly I missed, and then found that this is a two-hour long slugfest which fits into a separate anime. Not to worry though, the reviews helpfully assured me that the film would be perfectly comprehensive and didn't require seeing the series beforehand. Which I suppose is probably correct, if all we need to understand is "two sides fight, one side good guys."
It may seem unfair to review it absent seeing the series, but I'm a firm believer that movies should stand on their own. I always found it silly when someone might claim you need to read a book, for example, to understand a film adaptation of it. The film should stand on its own. If it's simply not meant to be watched on its own, then I'm sorry, but that should have been made clear before viewing. If the advertisements and poster art and so on didn't feel the need to inform me I'd be lost without viewing the source material, then I shouldn't be expected to need to. If the film was intended to draw in new audiences, I have a feeling it failed spectacularly on that front, since it left me with no desire whatsoever to watch the series and find out what I missed.
After feeling like almost two hours of my limited time was stolen, I can't see me spending any more of it trying to redeem what I saw by watching a series.
For fans of the series, those that watched up to the point at which the movie begins, you might find this to be an excellent entry. For those that are unfamiliar with the source material, I find it difficult to believe anyone else would have a much different reaction to it than I did, unless they simply like grandiose fights and do not care about any background plot. If that's you - enjoy.

Black Clover Sword of the Wizard King takes the shonen genre to new heights, leaving One Piece Film Red far behind. This movie showcases an exceptional story, riveting narrative, perfect pacing, phenomenal villains, and stays true to its roots as a genuine shonen film.
The story of Black Clover Sword of the Wizard King is an absolute gem. It effortlessly weaves together action, adventure, and heartfelt emotions, creating a captivating narrative that keeps you engaged from start to finish. It challenges Asta's dream to become the become the Wizard King and challenges his ideals through trials, self-discovery, and unwavering determination, resonating with fans on a profound level.
Unlike One Piece Film Red, which strayed into a misguided musical cash grab with the inclusion of Shanks, Black Clover remains committed to its shonen essence. The film celebrates the power of friendship, the strength of its characters, and the importance of never giving up, which are the core tenets of the shonen genre.
One area where Black Clover Sword of the Wizard King truly shines is its pacing. The movie expertly balances intense action sequences with quieter, character-driven moments, ensuring that viewers are always on the edge of their seats. The pacing allows the story to unfold naturally, creating a satisfying and cohesive experience.
The villains in Black Clover Sword of the Wizard King are nothing short of exceptional. They are not mere caricatures but rather complex individuals with depth, motives, and backstories. Their presence elevates the stakes, providing formidable challenges for our heroes to overcome. The clash between the protagonist and the antagonist is breathtaking, leaving a lasting impact.
Comparatively, One Piece Film Red fails to deliver a compelling narrative, relying heavily on the allure of its popular characters. The inclusion of a musical theme centered around Shanks feels out of place and detracts from the overall experience.

This movie was fantastic, great story line, good characters development. This movie would be considered a side mission like it would not affect the series but also it was an opportunity for the characters to get stronger and show us what they capable of. I love how Asta is getting stronger and how everyone acknowledge that he is a pretty big deal, but even so he still himself and his camarades the same, he listen and work with them. I was crying and screaming because of how good and happy this movie made me feel. Overall this deserves a 10/10, it wasn't something I wanted but something I truly NEEDED. You should definitely watch it.

The movie overall was alright not the best, we didn't get enough action from all the magic knights, and we defo didn't see astra go full god mode, by completely using jacks power, but the first appearance of jack was near the end and we didn't really see him help much it was a very good moment in the movie where it goes over what each clover is - trying to not spoil it. The movie however overall is still good but could have been better and slow paced although the movie was an hr 53. I'm hoping the new series does come out soon after this movie not knowing whether the movie is part of the manga and story which i'm assuming not, as in the movie asta still hasn't fully tamed jack.

The black clover movie had everything your standard shonen movie should have and more fights,God like OST,peak antagonists, character outstanding moments, heart and chills
It was just an awesome experience from start to finish especially the animation. If you are die hard fan of the series you would know one thing black clover doesn't have as it's strong suit is goof consistent animation but with this movie the studio really showed if given the resources and good time schedule they can produce a mouth watering feast for the audience to admire in awe. If not the rating stopped at 10 I would have given it 100 what a great film.

I loved the movie a lot, the story is good and it presents the past wizard kings in a great way, they were not defeated in battle, it was in the script, and that was well put, it shows that they are really powerful and that impression is left in the movie whole, great fights, I loved the princia funnybunny, looks like esdeath, I loved the fights a lot, I love mereoleona, I loved everything very much, the movie is very beautiful frame by frame, the battles were beautiful, unfortunately it looked a little rushed, but if if it was too long it would seem boring to attract a new audience, the black clover anime will return I believe a lot and I'm happy about it.
