Sanjay Leela Bhansali Had A Tough Casting Choice For Black ( Photo Credit – IMDb )
Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Kareena Kapoor Khan’s fates have crossed together like a mystery. They have always come too close to do a film together, and things have always fallen apart. Right from Bhansali approaching Bebo for Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam to Devdas and then Black. She was also approached for Ram Leela, but we’ll take a long pause at Black since a lot happened during the casting.
Bhansali has always been in awe of Kareena and repeatedly tried casting her till they came on common grounds for Black, and everything was sorted as per both of their temperaments. But what could have been a career-defining role for Kareena vanished in a jiffy from her periphery!

Remember many a club tracks that were picturised on Parveen Babi and Zeenat Aman back in the 70s and then early 80s as well? Or those disco numbers that were picturised on Mandakini and even Madhuri Dixit right till the late 80s?
Well, that’s the sense one gets on watching ‘Zindagi Meri Dance Dance’, the recreated version of the 80s song that has been put together in Arjun Rampal’s Daddy. The girl in question? Serbian model, dancer and actress Natasa Stankovic.

Yes, you've seen it right. That is Kareena Kapoor puckering up with Arjun Kapoor for the poster of R Balki's Ki & Ka. Hadn't Kareena said no to on-screen kissing after her marriage? When offered Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Bajirao Mastani she made it very clear at the outset that she "can't do all that with Ranveer" now that she is the Begum of the Pataudi khandaan. In fact in Prakash Jha's Satyagraha, Kareena's one intimate sequence with Ajay Devgn had to be drastically reduced.
Now we see Kareena happily puckering up with her co-star Arjun Kapoor.
So what gives?
Director R Balki shrugs off all suggestions of special concessions from the dignified diva. "Kareena and Arjun play husband and wife in my film. So what do husband and wives do? They show affection with a kiss, right? How else should Kareena and Arjun behave while playing man and wife?...

Is Kareena Kapoor Khan getting insecure about her career? Is she willing to take on any and every part that comes her way, provided the role is opposite a hot-and-happening superstar? Sources close to the Eid blockbuster Bajrangi Bhaijaan claim Kareena has a negligible part in the film. Says a member of the film's core team, "The actual leading lady of Bajrangi Bhaijaan is the little girl Harshaali Malhotra. Bebo is not there for more than 10-15 minutes. The core drama of the film is about Salman's character and the little girl who journey together from India to Pakistan. If there is a third character who is important, it is Nawazuddin Siddiqui who accompanies Salman and the girl." Apparently, Kareena's role is brief enough to qualify as a "guest appearance" in Bajrangi Bhaijaan. However, Amar Butala COO of Salman Khan Films negates the same saying, "Kareena Kapoor has a very...

After Ajay Devgn who played him in Prakash Jha's Satyagraha, it is the very talented Deepak Dobriyal who is all set to be seen in a role closely modelled on Arvind Kejriwal. 10. Chitrangada Singh (I, Me Aur Main)
Beginning her career as a model in Delhi, Chitrangada Singh made her debut on the Bollywood screen with Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi (2005). Her performance as Geeta Rao, firstly a student caught up against volatile political and social issues in India and then a woman who chooses to be with the man she loves, rather than her husband, had won her critical acclaim.
The year 2013 saw Chitrangada as Anushka Lal opposite John Abraham in I, Me Aur Main (Dir. Kapil Sharma). Playing the role of a girlfriend who is frustrated at her boyfriend Ishaan for the lack of responsibilities and maturity he shows, Chitrangada gauged the conflicting emotions gracefully. She emotively portrayed the fine balance between assertiveness and her broken feelings.
9. Huma Qureshi (Ek Thi Dayaan)
Huma Qureshi had stolen many hearts in through the critically acclaimed Gangs of Wasseypur Part 1 and 2 (Dir. Anurag Kashyap; 2012). She...

The gorgeous Kareena Kapoor-Khan's career seems to be heading into an exciting new level.
Phase 2 in Kareena Kapoor Khan's career begins now. Post-marriage she seemed to flounder in her choices with her half-hearted crusader's role in Prakash Jha's Satyagraha and the totally inane social activist's role in Gori Tere Pyaar Mein.
With Dev Benegal's film entitled Bombay Samurai, Kareena finally seems to have got her post-marriage formula right.
According to sources, the film is, "a crazy zany rollicking roller coaster ride with amazing twists and turns. There are 7-8 pivotal characters. But Kareena and Farhan preside over the show. They play a couple like no other seen before in our films. They are wacky and unpredictable. The two actors will have a ball playing their outgoing zestful characters."

L ipstick Under My Burkha is one of the twenty-three films selected for the co- production market of Film Bazaar 2013. We spoke to the director Alankrita Shrivastava:
Alankrita Shrivastava
Tell us about your project. What language will it be in?
Set in the crowded bylanes of small town India, Lipstick Under My Burkha (Lipstick Waale Sapne) chronicles the secret lives of four women who dream small dreams of freedom.
Dodging prying eyes, battling fear, they go about their days, reading what they shouldn’t be, singing what they shouldn’t be, feeling what they shouldn’t be and wanting what they shouldn’t be wanting. Through the colourful kaleidoscope of their world, we see these women secretly trying to live a little of their small lipstick dreams. In essence the film is about their search for freedom. Through the four stories, I want to dig deep into what it means to be a woman.

‘Satyagraha’ has done decent business at the box office. After a good weekend, it hung on through the weekdays and brought home more moolah. In the process, it managed to cross the 50 crore mark and also managed to surpass the 54 crore first week total of ‘Raajneeti’. Standing at 55 crore, the film has now enjoyed the highest ever opening week collections for a Prakash Jha film.
A lot has been said and written about the budget of the film with some obscenely high numbers being thrown around. However, the production cost here is in the range of 50-55 crore (excluding the print & publicity cost) which means eventually this multi starrer is a plus outing for all involved. Of course no one was expecting ‘Satyagraha’ to be a 100 crore affair, considering the fact that till date only one non-masala film, ‘Barfi!’, has managed this feat.

Prakash Jha’s Satyagraha brings to the forefront the following questions: Can violence ever be avoided when fighting for one’s rights? How powerful is non-violence in the face of violence? The film explores Gandhi’s philosophy of ‘satyagraha’ in a modern day context. Gandhi’s presence shadows the film throughout through Amitabh Bachchan’s character (Dwarka Anand; Daduji) and also through photographs of Gandhi in the backdrop at poignant moments. The parallel between Daduji and Gandhi provokes not only the realisation of how disappointingly corrupt India has become, but the question: will it take another Gandhi to destroy this corruption in India? To a certain extent, yes. But the ultimate message of the film comes across as, real change can only come through masses united. Daduji’s ‘team’, is comprised of Manav (Ajay Devgn), Yasmin (Kareena Kapoor Khan), Arjun Singh (Arjun Rampal) and Simran (Amrita Rao).
