The initiative runs now through April 17 in Provincetown, Massachusetts, and will be followed by another residency later this autumn.
The Gabrielle A Hanna Film Institute, an initiative of the Provincetown Film Society (Pfs), launched the women’s residency programme.
The project will allow female film-makers from around the world to work in the Cape Cod locale during the off-season alongside other artists and writers.
Pfs, in collaboration with local businesses such as Land’s End Inn, Roux and Sage Inn & Lounge, will provide lodging and meals and an inviting environment for film-makers to foster their work.

English-born Australian actor Nic Bishop has joined the cast of Covert Affairs, the Us spy drama series that airs on Foxtel.s Universal Channel.
Bishop plays Ryan McQuaid, a former Navy Seal-turned-private contractor billionaire who forma an uneasy alliance with CIA agent Annie Walker (Piper Perabo). The show is in its fifth season on the USA Network. It's filmed in Colombia and Toronto and will be in production until October.
The La-based Bishop starred in the WB/Fox series Past Life which he won after his first Us audition, secured through Nikki Barrett Casting.
He went on to star in ABC's medical drama Body of Proof and has appeared in CSI, NCIS: La, Hot in Cleveland, Necessary Roughness, Castle and The Glades.

Bellflower producer Vincent Grashaw gets into the director’s chair for Coldwater, a drama-thriller about a teenage boy who is placed in a “wilderness juvenile center” overseen by a malevolent army veteran. Produced by Grashaw, Kris Dorrance, Dave Gare and Sarah Farrand and co-written by Grashaw with Mark Penney, Coldwater was originally slated to shoot in 2004 with a different director at the helm and a high-profile cast. Now, Grashaw is directing with a cast of unknowns including P.J. Boudousque (above in an exclusive shot from the film), Chris Petrovski and Scott MacArthur. Filming throughout California, Coldwater is being produced by Gare Farrand Entertainment, Skipping Stone Entertainment and Flying Pig Productions.
