Because of the limited budget most of the locations were donated to the production provided filming could be completed outside of business hours. Most were only available for a single day meaning that every scene, from any episode that took place there, had to be completed in rapid succession. Despite this, the production never once went over the industry standard 12 hour day and no scenes went unshot.
Ben Bledsoe originally recorded all of Gizmo's dialogue as scripted. Then, after a rough cut of each episode was assembled with his dialogue in place, it was sent back to him with suggestions for areas he might like to improv something. The best parts of each recording session was used in the final cut.
