In 1967 Joan Mascaró met George Harrison. The encounter took place at the David Frost Programme of London Weekend Television. Mascaro began a correspondence with Harrison, and eventually sent the musician a copy of his book "Lams of Fire" (1961), suggesting that he read certain verses by Tao Te Ching from the book and consider putting them into music. George Harrison adapted the lyrics from the Tao for his song "The inner light", he recorded it in Bombay and it was released as the B-side of the "Lady Madonna" single.
