On October 18, 2012, the show was canceled after eight episodes. It was replaced by the return of the show Whitney.
The monkey was originally going to be named Dr. Zaius, after the orangutan scientist in Planet of the Apes (1968), but the producers couldn't get the rights to that name.
According to TVLine, Amy Huberman played Dorothy in the unaired pilot, but was let go for creative reasons.
