Margaret Colin, who portrays Tom Selleck's character's girlfriend in Three Men and a Baby (1987), also stars in this similarly titled movie as Barbara Brenner, mother of the three wise men.
Co-writers Paul Campbell and Kimberley Sustad both appear in the movie, Campbell starring as Stephan, one of the three men, and Sustad in the small role as the ER doctor. They have starred together in other made for Hallmark Channel movies, Christmas by Starlight (2020), Wedding Every Weekend (2020), and A Godwink Christmas (2018).
The doctor makes the statement that "you can't write these things". The doctor is played by Kimberley Sustad, who co-wrote the script with Paul Campbell, who played Stephan.
When Paul Campbell's character first meets the baby, he says, "Well isn't this shaping up to be an unexpected Christmas." Just as with this film, An Unexpected Christmas (2021) was written by Campbell and co-stars Tyler Hynes with a walk-on appearance by Andrew W. Walker.
As an homage to Three Men and a Baby (1987), the three brothers re-create that film's "tossing the baby bottle" scene.
