This is the the first theatrical Sesame Street film where Big Bird and Oscar are not worked or voiced by their long-time puppeteer, Caroll Spinney, following his death in 2019 and his official retirement from puppetry after nearly 50 years.
It is the third theatrical film based on the "Sesame Street" franchise following "Follow That Bird (1985)" and "The Adventures of Elmo in Grouchland (1999)".
This is the first Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer's family film to be rated G by the MPA since All Dogs Go to Heaven 2 (1996).
First Muppet-related film since Follow That Bird (1985) to not have any Muppets puppeteered by Steve Whitmire, following his retirement from puppetry in 2014 and 2017.
This is the first film under Sesame Workshop.
