Another arbeit movie. This director's first feature is an agreeable surprise, a convincing family drama with some substance in dealing with the children of the generation who devoted their lives to German reconstruction and now find themselves at odds with their children, whose incentives are more personal.
Un-shaven manager chemist Kockisch (known for his lead in a German TV cop show) gets up quietly and takes the train to Berlin to see his three children. Turns out that daughters Strecher and Müller and son Diehl are not living the lives he believed.
Side swipes at industrial relations courses, the suburbs and the work ethic. Vivid characters and plausible settings convincingly delivered without a cop out ending.
